After the festival, Einne directly went to their villa. She nearly lost this time as she took a cab to home. Eden welcome her on the living room as soon as she entered the house.
"Coreen, looked at the dresses I picked for you. You must looked breath-taking tonight as we attend your dad's colleague birthday."
"Attend a banquet? I will decline. I am too exhausted in attending parties." she answer and she sank on the couch.
"But your dad specifically request you to bring the party. Don't fight your dad or you will be fashionably dragged if you defy."
Einne recalled how cruel Coreen's dad could be and remember about it put her shivers in her spine. She must fled abroad as soon as possible.
"Alright mom."
She just nodded in frustration and let Eden choose her dress for tonight's event.
The banquet was grand that it was held on a cruise. Different conglomerate and celebrities attended with flashy apparel. She stood behind Eden and her dad and obediently followed them where they go. Einne was exhausted with many introductions and formalities among elite. All she wanted is to either return to her passive life or escape from this chaotic novel. Business smile exhaust her even more after introductions among strangers. Finally excusing herself for a breath, she find herself staring in the vast sea in the dock as the party merrily conducted in the hall. She leaned towards the bars and a waft of fresh salt flooded her nose.
"Better!" she exclaimed.
"I wonder what's better, I find it very confusing Ms. Lin," a voice she is very familiar indeed. She is no surprised with sudden meetings, they are of the same league, Coreen's league.
"Now, I feel suffocated, thanks to someone." she tried to walk away.
"Is there you way to gain my attention? Shows no concern to me in the slightest?"
Her brows knitted as she was about to vomit with what she heard. Gain your attention? My everest paper works. She boldly faced at the hero of the novel then she shook her head.
"I believed I was traumatized and was out of my mind when I said I like you. Your face is indeed remarkable but your character rots. What a waste of time."
"I meant it when I say, I don't like you now that I know how a brilliant person like you can be swayed with feign tears. It seems angels descended sometimes."
He quickly grabbed her hand as she tried to walk away.
"How could I trust what you say?" She wasn't sure with his expression-annoyance or disgust. But she is sure of one thing, it is not hate.
"You don't have to trust me. We don't have to see each other around anyway. You should celebrate it with Carmen, an eyesore was eliminated. I offer you my congratulations."
"Ah one more thing," she turned at him " You said earlier that you know me since childhood yet you were wrong. You never knew me since the beginning. You were just defining me on your own terms."
David grit his teeth and clench his fist as he looked at her vanished in his sight. It seems a gap in his heart started to expand with her leaving.
"Wish harder!" her words echoes in his mind as snickered at him.
