Chapter 2 - SUPERFICIAL

She had a wonderful dream. It was Kent, her fiancée, stood at the center of the fountain in the park adjacent to her company with his dazzling smiles that captures everyone's heart. He was so dreamy with his clean look as if he was waiting there for her. Einne was ecstatic to meet him unexpectedly, overwhelming surprises layer on another as their wedding as fast approaching. She would retaliate with his surprises as she hid herself in the prying crowd and let him wait for few minutes.

Can't resist him wondering and searching for her amidst the crowd, she tried to reveal to him, waiving at him but she was too surprised with the next few seconds. A woman make her way to the crowd and rushed towards Kent and kissed him as if she was he was waiting for. She must be confused, she assure herself as she also tried to make way but Kent responded at that woman too intimately and handed her the bouquet she thought that was hers. As they merrily celebrate with intimate attention, their eyes met. Kent stupefied and can't look at her in the eyes.

Knowing that Kent choose to look away and setting her confusion, she left amidst the cheering crowd dejected with clouded mind. She was his fiancée and they are about to get married in few days. Everything was already set from wedding reception, invitation and sponsors. What would she say? The wedding is cancelled off because the groom was snatched away?

Einne walked aimlessly wherever her confused feet brings her. It seems her 10 years relationship was already in ruin. The length of their affair is already defeated by mere woman whom she didn't recognized. She wanted answers too for she was too blind not to notice his betrayal. Kent was too perfect that she didn't believe that he could exchange him with other woman. Was she too boring? Was she too reserved? Was she too replaceable?

Her phone rings in the middle of her contemplation, it was speaking of the devil. She answers the call and let him explain with whatever excuses he could come up.

"Einne, I'm sorry." his apology echoes in her mind but she strengthen her composure. Perhaps his confession will comfort her and they may reconcile again.

"I...." she was in the middle of her reply but she was interrupted.

"Let's cancel the wedding." As if he cancel some menu or an item.

"I don't understand Kent, why would we cancel our wedding as if she was more important to you. Am I lesser valuable to you?"

"But I loved her." he cried on the other phone as if she was a thorn in their perfect affair.

But I loved you too, she whispers in silence. Should I paved my way to her?

"How long have you been together?" Einne asked. It must be short knowing they spent most of time together.

"Well, it is already been three years."

Three years? She scoff in disbelief. He was to pre-occupied flirting and dating while she tried her means to help him land a prestigious job. This is unnerving. He was not the man she was always supported of with his passion and dreams. She was conned and scammed.

"I understand." she muttered and turn off her phone.

It was a loud thud from the heels wakes her in reminiscing her past and dragged her back in this cliche novel. She looked at Carmen one last time and reminded with that same victim player and that douchebag. What a perfect match to ruin her tranquil life.
