Chapter 14 - Bloodbath

"YOU FOCKING WOT!?" Bounty yelled slamming his hands onto Julia's desk. His accent as thick as his anger. Him and Dian were gathered in Julia's office looking at a crystal ball with Zackaria's face depicted on it.

"It's just a temporary thing..." Zackaria spoke from the other side of the crystal. "I knew some you would be a little angry with there suddenly being no way home for you."

"A little angry?" Dian jumped in. "That's the greatest understatement of the fucking century! Get your ass back her before I personally track you down and feed you to the lizards!"

"I don't think they would eat --"

"You haven't seen what I've seen in my time. The white one has been staring at Reggie since this morning. I wouldn't be surprised if there's only 9 of us by the end of the night." Her anger turned a little more humorous.

"I hope he shares..." Julia said quietly, licking her lips. "It's so hard finding a young man that tastes good." Both Bounty and Dian gave Julia a concerned look. Julia was rightfully embarrassed realizing she accidentally just said that out loud.

"Anyway..." Zackaria picked back up again. "I'm not just doing this to avoid an imminent demise. I'm looking for things you guys can do to help with the whole 'great conflict' thing. I'll be back with something in a few days." He started making a crackling noise with his mouth. "Oh it looks like -- krkrkrkrkr -- breaking up."

"That not how magic balls work you bloody drongo!" Bounty grabbed the crystal ball. "Don't you dare hang -- Fuck he hung up on us."

Dian stomped her boot in frustration which startled Calypso, Julia's Siamese cat, causing an upset Julia. "Alright you've had your fun yelling at the old man, now out! I have my afternoon appointments to get to."

"Oh yeah, and what are we supposed to do, mate?"

"I don't know... train, help the servants, do anything but leave. You all live here for the time being so you might as well help around the house."

The two left and wandered the halls in silence. Dian took a more formal demeanor to reflect her noble birth. Bounty however, was slumped over sulking with his hands in his duster pockets. "Bounty..." She looked down at him with a cold yet inquisitive tone. "You seem very upset about this. Much more than some of the others."

"Because I actually want to be apart of the war!" He shouted, stopping in the middle of the hall. "Everyday I track down and shoot assholes who do some minor crime, and I have to take them in alive! Do you know how difficult it it to line up a non-lethal shot with a MAGICAL GUN!? But in a war I don't have to worry about it. I just point and shoot! Only thing on my mind is how fast I can load in the next round! But now what are we supposed to do? Sit around a castle while our one ticket out is gallivanting across some beach somewhere?!" Without realizing it Bounty's hair was sticking up and his claws extended as he was bearing his teeth.

"Wow. He gets really upset when someone takes away his chance to shoot people indiscriminately." Dian thought. She then sighed placing a hand on his shoulder. "I understand. I too am missing out on a good blood harvest..."

"Blood harvest?..." Bounty calmed only to be confused and worried. "Don't tell me you're like some sort of vampire or cult fanatic?"

"Oh gods no! I'm a hemomancer. I use blood to power my spellcasting. My stock was dumped out when we got put in the dungeon, and I need a refill. I could use my own blood, but that puts me at a risk of killing myself."

Bounty let out a sigh of relief. "Ok good. She's just scary AND crazy!" He thought as he continued walking again. Though his face was written like an open book.

"Awww..." Dian said quietly to herself, letting Bounty get some distance away. "I scared the poor kitty. How cute."
