Ag's Perspective
XXXXX
It's been a day since we've been summoned here. Many are rightfully upset. I would be lying if I said I was upset as well. The will of the Flame still burns within me, and I will perform my duty no matter what world I find myself in.
Myself and the panther Catfolk happen to meet at the castle armory as we wanted to refit our selves with new equipment. The place was in total disarray. It seems the returning soldiers cared little for order when a celebration was being held on their behalf just upstairs. We trudged through swords, spears, and shields.
"This is unacceptable." I state. "I'm going to organize this." I may be a high paladin, but I'm not above a little cleaning.
"Here, let me help too. It's the least I could do." Spoke the cat.
"You're Bounty right?" I ask as I've always had trouble recognizing people, or sometimes just noticing when people are around me.
"No... It's Whistle. You know, the one you saved? Thanks by the way."
I've fixed so many wounds in my time everything he mentions is a blur to me. "The Flame only saves those who are willing to keep fighting. It was by your own resolved that you stayed alive."
"Well tell that flame of yours that I owe it one." He smiled. I swear I can almost hear a soft purr.
We've been cleaning for about half an hour now. The weapon racks are all properly sorted, and the floor is actually walkable. Whistle then made what I assume was a joyous cat noise. "Ag look here!" He pulled a pink wine-dyed hip quiver from a foot locker. "The servants said they couldn't find it when we got our gear back. I guess one of guards thought he could take it for himself."
I walk over for a closer look. He too is inspecting further as he's pulling out glass arrows, as well as a book from a pouch made along the belt fastener. "I've never seen arrows made of glass." I say as I hold one up to my eye. It looks well made, even the cracks in it look purposeful.
"Where I come from the primary magic is polarity. Just about anyone is able to manipulate the magnetism of metals, even the way their bodies react to said magnetism. Some people still use metal arrows, which are fine, until all of them are pulled from your quiver and stabbed into your back. Glass arrows can't be effected but they break easy."
"I want to see these arrows first hand." I always like to see new weaponry... "Shoot them at me." ...especially when it's used against me.
We stand apart facing each other in the training field. A few of the castle guards were at first wherry, but now gathering around us curious. "Are you sure about this Ag?" He asks across the way. A longbow in hand with a glass arrow knocked.
"Absolutely!" I pound the chest of my rose-gold plate mail as small fires appear ingulfing my hands. A sign of my enthusiasm and drive. "Hit me with everything you got!"
The first arrow caught me by surprise. I barely saw him draw his bow as one of the arrows slammed into my chest plate. The armor got scratched at most, but small slivers slashed along my chin and the side of my face drawing blood.
I can see the second one coming as I wave my hand in front of me as I emblazon magic symbols in the air as they forms into a wall of fire. I'm merely spattered in melted glass. I stand ready for another arrow to come through, but out of the corner of my eye I spot him. He's maneuvered around me to my right flank firing another one.
I didn't have time to throw up a spell so I braced for impact with my forearm. I felt the impact as I was suddenly covered in a black and sticky liquid the instantly caught fire. Did he just hit me with oil? I didn't know those arrows could contain liquids, but now I do. The flames didn't effect me but my overheating armor did as I quickly roll onto the ground to get as much dirt on me as possible to snuff out the flame.
"Ag! Are you alright!? I didn't know I still had a trick arrow in there! Ow!" He burned himself touching my armor, but it felt lukewarm to me. I admit I was a little upset, not at being ingulfed in flame, but the fact a fire like that could conceivably start anywhere. I stand back up grabbing his arm. "We're going to do something about those 'Trick' arrows. Something much better."
