Elijah POV
Seeing Lucien standing there helpless and unable to fight back against the verbal slew that fell from Kain's mouth lit an angry fire in me. Decker had come running out of his room and towards us. 'He hit Uncle Luc. The bad man hit Uncle Luc and is yelling at him' with tears in his eyes. I knew that Kain would do whatever it takes to get what he wants.
"What gives you the ability to hit my brother, Kain Hasapi ?". I asked in a cold voice. Lucien had his head down. It bothered me quite a bit that Kain walked around the mansion as if it was his (belatedly realising that he is the true son ), but he had no right to treat Lucien like dirt.
Kain was stuttering in shock having not expected me to be present in the house Which gave me a great deal of satisfaction. " Eli, you are mistaken. I did not hit Lucien but rather I was patting his cheek a little too hard." It was so obvious that Kain was trying to cover up. "Liar, you were yelling at Big brother Lucien and called him names." Decker's voice yelled out from behind me.
Kain's face turned purple from rage. It was honestly amusing. I also noticed Lucien's shoulders shaking with laughter as well as the soft chuckles from Denver and Clive. Kain suddenly zeroed in on Clive's face and then, something flashed through his eyes that unsettled me greatly.
"You are brother-in-law Clive, right ? Delia's ex-husband, aren't you ?"
Clive instantly stiffened upon hearing those words as did Decker. " You know, you are a right bastard. You divorced my cousin just because of some trivial thing and also ensured that she gave up her parental rights. Shameless man. He needs his mother with him and you are...." I couldn't believe the words that he was spewing. My eyes turned red in rage. I was itching to slap him when I noticed Lucien's face. He was not pleased at Kain's mouth and his eyes were cold with anger. He looked over to me and we communicated silently.
I knew in that moment our bond as brothers is stronger than ever before and will remain so for as long as we are alive. Lucien looked at him and " Hey, idiot. What did you just call my God brother ? Do you really think that you are the best ? What a joke. You are not even worthy of being the same as him. You are just a third rate actor and an even poor model."
Kain paused in shock at the words and I have to admit that it felt good to hear Lucien stand up for himself and for Clive. I then realized that he called Clive 'God brother ' which dissatisfied me and made more determined to make Clive my husband and Decker my son. With that in mind, I decided that it was time to kick Kain out.
"Kain, leave now before you get into more trouble ". He gulped, shot a murderous look at Lucien and strode out of the room. Decker ran up to Lucien and hugged him. I knew right then that we would be protecting them for good. I looked over to see Clive thanking Lucien and pulling him in for a hug which Lucien reciprocated.
We both shared a smile.
The time has come to protect our family and friends for good and we will not stop until the obstacles are eliminated.
