Chapter 36 - Beginning of an end

Amira stood up and stretched, she had been lying down under the tree for what seemed like forever, Aya had disappeared to God knows where since ages ago (well not ages ago but five days definitely felt like ages to Amira in her dilemma),with a promise of bringing back a solution to the highly irritating and nauseating feeling she had been having since two weeks ago. It just started as a mild morning sickness and then it increased it's threshold gradually.

What Amira couldn't even understand was now her bizarre desire to drain the life out of some people with the least provocation. She had nearly killed her own sister, Takoa the other day just because she objected to them cooking dinner together. Amira felt frustrated and as she stretched her muscles, she could feel raw power brimming underneath her skin, begging to be let out. Her skin was dangerously pulsing, it felt like her skin was going to break open any moment and allow the energy below out. Right after she finished stretching, Amira felt a strange shift in the air, it was like a domineering aura had suddenly engulfed her. Then when she had prepared herself for any kind of attack, Aya morphed into view but she seemed different, she was Aya alright but it seemed like she had another being in her, like she was Aya but not Aya.

Amira discarded those thoughts away and demanded "Where have you been all this while?"

"Just here and there" Aya replied offhandedly with a shrug.

Amira cocked her eyebrows, ready to pry into matters more but sealed her lips to tend to a more pressing matter "So did you get any solution at least?"

"Yes I did" Aya said with a sigh and sat on the mat Amira was laying on earlier " But first tell me something" she looked up to Amira.

Amira frowned but hummed and nodded her agreement.

"Have you been a little restless lately, like you want to expose your power or something? " Aya tilted her head.

" Hmmm" Amira hummed for a bit " I guess so" she nodded.

"Then what about wanting to shed blood or have you tried killing someone?" Aya pressed on.

" Yes, I almost did so to Takoa" Amira nodded but then her frown deepened, almost furrowing her eyebrows together " Is there something I'm supposed to know?"

Aya sighed dejectedly and bowed her head for a moment and then exhaling, she weighed what she could say and what she could not " Yes, absolutely" she raised her head up to Amira with a smile.

" So tell me what I need to know"

" Whatever is happening to you is an indication that we have fully merged as one being, so that means now you are so much of a goddess just as I am and whenever you feel like bursting your powers out, feel free to do so even if it means killing someone, in fact I'll condone some few sacrifices here and there"Aya said with a knowing smirk which threw Amira off balance.

"Wait, wait?!" Amira raised her hand in the air " You are really not telling me to kill people right? "

" Were you having water in your ears? " Aya glared at Amira.

" But how am I supposed to do that, besides killing others would bring nothing profitable to me! " Amira cried already at the verge of the greatest combo of frustration and confusion, she had ever found herself in.

"That's where you are wrong, dear Amira" Aya stood up, directly facing Amira " Every god or goddess needs an offering to stay alive and grow more in power. Mai has her humans praying to her and giving her offerings, the thunder God feeds the water bodies, and we as a battle goddess are supposed to have our sourc of offering and in your case it is scarification of humans so your power will grow as a new goddess , simple"

" I still don't get it" Amira shook her head with a desperate confusion on her face.

"All that I'm trying to say is that if you want grow in power then you'll have to succumb to the bearings of your power so you can be as powerful as any other goddess" Aya placed her left hand on Amira's shoulder with another sigh, Amira noticed that sighing had become Aya's habit over the past few days.

"So basically, I'm supposed to kill in order to fully access my power?" Amira questioned.

" In a nutshell, yes" Aya nodded.

" But won't I get caught and eventually get punished?" Amira threw her hands around with another cry " And why do you seem so calm about this?"

" First, you forget I'm here to help you so trust me,you won't get caught by any mortal being and second, nothing good comes on a silver platter,it demands great sacrifices"

" Alright if you say so but just know that I'm not doing so willingly" Amira threw to Aya.

" Of course" Aya beamed " And I have a little something for your morning sickness problem and also a little something to help in getting your 'offerings' with ease"

She beckoned Amira to give her her hand and when Amira did so, Aya closed her eyes and muttered a spell, Amira felt her hand growing hot and then it cooled down suddenly making her hand cold and then finally get hand's temperature returned to normal and then a smirk graced her face.

Amira felt so full and the irritating nausea was gone, rather she felt good and full of power. Her doubts about getting her offerings as Aya put it were now all gone replaced by an absolute mentality of getting what you need to survive and her case, the villagers better watch out for the new goddess.

"Now shall we get our first offering?" Aya smirked to Amira.

"Of course why not"

But just as they were about to go, Amira husband spoke out " Amira, what are you doing there?"

Amira's heart leaped into her throat as she turned slowly with wide eyes to face her husband "What do you mean?"

"Why are you standing and singing under the tree, gazing into the sky?" Her husband asked again amused " I hope you are not forgetting that you are not still a young maiden" he chuckled.

Amira's heart settled down and she exhaled in relief giving a chuckle of her own " No, but I guess even the old ones can be allowed to dream after all"

Her husband laughed and proceeded out of the compound " I'm off to see a friend" he called over his shoulder as he disappeared behind a hut.

Amira turned to Aya with a confused look "Why didn't he see and hear us?"

Aya laughed one of her maniacal laughs " You forget I'm always ready for anything, I already placed a spell here so they see what I want them to see and in this case, your husband just saw you singing and dancing under this tree"

" It's a good relief"

" Don't worry, the spell is permanent, I casted it the first time we talked privately and so anytime we meet or talk ,mere mortal beings can see and hear what I only want them to see and hear"Aya laughed again.

Amira nodded.

" Now say, do we have target in mind" Aya smirked an evil smirk.

" Of course and you definitely who we are going after" Amira smirked back.

"Oh" Aya laughed " You seem so scary with that smirk and that calm voice"

" I know right?" Amira laughed too.

Then within the blink of an eye, Aya transported them through thin air to whoever was to become the first target for Amira's sacrifices.
