Chapter 1 - Seraph

Ring. Ring.

A decrepit looking greyish wood oak door, a hole was on the outside of it. It was slightly open, the doors original color an elegant brown had been washed away after the years making it brittle and easy to break with the slightest of slams and punches, even the lock wouldn't work anymore making it eternally half open.

There was the slight bit of trash that peaked out the room, it fought with the sweet aroma and the gentleness of the hallway. The doors across from the broken door had brand new paint white, pink, or plain brown and the doors even had cute names with cute little signs that hung off their door handle for a gentle homey effect.

Ring. Ring.

Peaking through the hole in the wooden door, a small mattress was on the floor with only a small blanket barely covering a tall skinny person. Looking to the side there was a small laptop directly next to the small mattress still open, with a flashing screen text that kept on flashing the colors black and white with the small number font on the screen that read 7:00 am.

Looking more into the room, there were anime posters decorated above the small mattress; the decorator seemed to like the anime a lot and decorated them all around the room. The skinny person looked agitated slightly and with a grunt rolled to the side shivering. Then he opened his dark gray eyes.

Ring. Ring.

Leaning forward on the mattress he turned his gaze toward the laptop and pressed a small button which immediately turned it off. His face still felt moist, he could still feel the stings from the bruises that were littered across his body like the trash that was so carefully littered across his room.

"My eyes burn." His voice was emotionless.

Touching the bottom of his eyes, he wiped away the moisture and turned his gaze to a pile of books in the corner. That is if you could call these books 'books' anymore, they were torn, wet, some of them had a mysterious white substance that made them stick together, and a few of them were slightly burnt.

'This is my room.' Seraph reminded himself. His gaze never left the books.

He had cherished these books for years, they weren't dirty books. They were books just meant to zone him out of reality for a few hours of the day… Looking at these books he felt his eyes water again but his expression immediately turned sour as he remembered the bad memory associated with these books. He raised his arm and using his wrist wiped away the moisture from his face and eyes again.

He then got up, his body still racked with pain as he moved. He picked up the trash bag at the doorway and then proceeded to walk around the room picking up the individual pieces of garbage littered across the floor.

Seraph remembered the events of last night with perfect ease, his step brother and sisters enraged over some reason or another… he couldn't keep up with the reasons these days. Had come into his room, beat him, taken his books, thrown trash in his room and then returned his books the way they are now in an act of "Good fortune." euugh, he could almost picture his step brother saying those words again.

After cleaning up the trash, he placed it near the doorway and washed his face in his bathroom, then dressed himself. He spotted a hole in his closet door, his step sister had kicked him into the door and the brother simply 'finished him up a bit'. Bad Memories.

He finished dressing, his school attire was all black with the exception of the stripe that went from the collar to the shoulder. It would've been pretty fitting and pretty unless you discounted all of the scratched dirt spots on his uniform.

Seraph wasn't poor, he had reminded this to himself as he walked toward the door and picked up the trash. He was just unable to access some basic needs the house provided.

The only time he was able to access the washer was when his parents were home, which they rarely were. He opened his already open door, to be greeted with the not so soothing hallway of his home.

He flinched slightly when he saw the door of his step siblings, He then quickly walked to the stairway at the end of the hallway which led to the living room. Each door had a room which he didn't have not so soothing experiences in.

Once he reached the downstairs, he saw three people sitting around the dining room eating breakfast. Two Girls, Hannah and Josyln. They were his step sisters, they were also very beautiful girls with slender fitting bodies and black hair that went all the way down to their waist.

Hannah was the older one, she was tall and more fit. Josyln was the younger one, she was shorter than Hannah because of the age difference of one year but because of how short she was Seraph thinks she had something to prove. She always lashed out in rage whenever Seraph did anything for her and made sure to humiliate him whenever she saw him.

'She's just mad that i'm taller.' Seraph deduced that as the problem.

Now there was one other person sitting around the table and that was his step brother, Charlie. Charlie was the worst of them, he inflected the most physical pain on to him as much as he possibly could. It also didn't help that Charlie was a big muscle centric guy.

Seraph had to only walk forward in order to get outside, throw away his garbage and then go to school. However, the layout of his house still put him directly in the eye sight of his eating siblings.

He didn't bother running, running would just make it worse. He walked forward and just as expected he heard a sweet yet harsh voice say "Stop!"

Immediately his hands started trembling, but he then turned around and first bowed his head in the direction of his eating siblings and said "Good Morning, Big Brother… Big Sisters."

Seraph was older than the oldest sister by a year, however. They had quickly deemed him autisitc and said that his mental age was attributed to a '7 year old' and had him demoted.

He felt something hard hit his gut causing him to tumble over while holding his gut, He looked up and saw just in time as joslyn raised her foot and kicked hard against his head. His face kissed the floor and he was forced to kowtow in front of her. The trash bag flew from his hand. He gripped his fists tightly, he desperately wanted to retaliate but seeing charlie right behind her he didn't dare to do anything rash.

"You were totally going to leave without saying anything to us!" she raised and slammed her foot repeatedly against him, his past bruises received another set of new bruises. "Say your sorry!"

Seraph knew they weren't going to go hard on him because of his school clothes, However, he also simply didn't like pain at all so he quickly began apologizing "I'm sorry! Forgive me!" Between each breath he grunted, Joslyn had never stopped kicking him.

"Are you sure?" She did another heavy kick to his side causing him to begin holding his side in pain. He was forced to turn over.

He looked at her with desperate eyes, but apparently the moment their eyes reached eachother she shivered and her rage increased two times. "Bastard! Idiot!" she shouted these words at him. Seraph could only cover up in a ball.

The kicks were more vicious, he had bruises however that was it. She wasn't an athlete and seraph was sure if he really did retaliate he could take her. Sooner or later she soon got tired and her curses and insults grew ragged.

"Y'know that looks fun sis," Charlie said from behind "But aren't you supposed to go to school soon, you might get late if you don't hurry up."

She stopped, turning to the kitchen table she then picked up her school bag and left out the front door. Seraph could hear one by one them finishing up, picking up their bags and leaving. He began to slowly lower his guard but was met with a hard kick to his gut once more.

This kick left him breathless, he almost vomited. He looked up and saw that it was Charlie "Clean the mess up or go die."
