Chapter 3 - (Chapter 3) Walking Is Appreciated

Astrid had spent a whole day in her new body. All she had done is eat and sleep. But at least she knew how her body's condition now.

"My baby needs to get better soon. Okay?" Mr. Tuhs was currently sitting next to Astrid rembling about her health. Making sure she ate, slept and became healthier...

Astrid looked up at her father. "Okay." She lightly nodded with acknowledgment.

Mr. Tuhs stiffened slightly. Then he gave a wide and booming smile. "Mmm, eating and resting will be the best way." He answered with a slight choke in his voice.

Astrid looked down on to her cover. She knew her legs could barely keep her body weight up. While she was eating a strange food which did seem to make her feel better...

Despite Astrid's knowledge from her previous life, she didn't know about human medicine.

"When you get better you can go back to school. Didn't you always enjoy going?" Mr. Tuhs spoke with his eyes gleaming. He was just being hopeful, but a parent would always wish the best for their children.

Astrid then was a little surprised. Given how badly Astrid was treated in school... Did she enjoy it?

Going by the old memories, Astrid formerly hated school, she would try to avoid going without fail...

'For a man so rich, he didn't know his daughter was being bullied? He must have not kept her under supervision.'

Given their over-protective feelings, Astrid's parents would have sent someone to make sure she was safe. Unless they believed in freedom or privacy.

"Father, mother is calling for you." Astrid informed with a croaky voice.

Mr. Tuhs lightly chuckled. *Cough* "Alright, just make sure to eat and recover. Don't be too rash now. Have a goodnight baby." He lightly ruffled Astrid's hair. Her hair was clean and given care. Courtesy of Mrs. Tuhs.

Astrid just nodded. As she prepared herself to sleep off the wariness.

.......

"Chairman, today he left a meeting early to go home. We couldn't follow but it was most likely related to his daughter." An expressionless man with sunglasses reported.

In this office, it was spacious. With a mahogany theme. It looked lavish with extra items worth plenty of money. At a chair to a desk. A grey-haired man sat smoking a cigar.

"Fwoo, as expected, the man cares for his family deeply." The man spoke with an uninterested attitude.

The man wearing sunglasses gulped. Despite being a man bearing at 6 foot 4 inches and having muscles showing through his shirt. The man in front of him was terrifying to him...

"Hmm, take no further action for now. Continue to monitor." The man ordered as he put out his cigar.

The muscular man nodded. "Understood sir. With the young master's situation..."

The old man sighed with an emotion only known to him. "Just keep protecting him. His flashes of brilliance don't match with his attitude... Honestly, my son spoilt him too much!" The old man slammed the table. Showing his distaste to his grandson.

The muscular man secretly agreed with his boss. Not daring to voice his opinion, he stayed quiet.

"Alright, having him gain life experience would be the best way for him to learn how to act." The man waved away the muscular man.

'Ah Howard, no matter what you can do, you can't escape my clutches. Heh.' The man rubbed his chin with a smile.

.......

A week passed with Astrid being stuck in bed. She had been dutifully eating and sleeping. With such care, she had gained enough strength to at least stand without collapsing.

"Baby... Do you need help?" Mrs. Tuhs asked with a bright look in her eyes.

"No." Astrid lightly said, as she had been at least speaking in response to her parents. It didn't sound so wispy as before, also with her throat hydrated better, her voice started to sound more like a female.

Astrid took one step, her foot connecting with the warm carpet. Her legs were small enough to get your hands around. So thin and weak... Watching her daughter struggle to walk. Tears came to Mrs. Tuhs eyes.

'Look! My daughter is so strong! She is walking on her own despite being so ill... Sob.'

For Astrid, this was something inevitable. She had long been listening to both her parents going on about her health. So she needed to follow their wishes. She also needed to respect Astrid's original memories.

Astrid slowly walked over to a vanity table in the room. She leaned on to the table once she reached it and took a deep breath.

'Mm, walking is appreciated.' Astrid wanted to at least walk to respect her new parents...

*Sniff* Mrs. Tuhs watched as Astrid slowly stood without any support. It was like watching a toddler learn to walk again...

"Mother, isn't it time for dinner?" Astrid asked while looked at her mother. As she stood with some confidence.

Mrs. Tuhs nodded. "Let me help you to the table." She knew her daughter wanted to show her father she was well.

Astrid took some slow but steady steps to her door. Opening it, she saw a spacious hallway that was a dead end.

Mrs. Tuhs walked beside her, as Astrid walked only a couple of metres before going into the main sitting area for the house.

Of course, the Tuhs are rich. They gave their daughter a room downstairs previously so she didn't have to walk downstairs. But with her poor health, she slowly stopped leaving her room.

"Are you okay? Should be have a break?" Mrs. Tuhs asked in a spoiling tone, she noticed Astrid's perspiration on her forehead.

Astrid shook her head with some rough breathing. "No." She gave a small smile to her mother. She was extremely caring...

As a maid opened the door for the mother-daughter duo. A room with a small dining table was shown. Sitting down was Mr. Tuhs, with food ready on the table.

He was beaming, he couldn't remember the last time he had dinner with both his wife and daughter at the table. He watched with pride as Astrid slowly walked to the table.

Mrs. Tuhs guided her to her seat. As Astrid finally sat down, she felt revitalized. With her body as it is, walking exerts so much energy...

"Mm, let's eat." Mr. Tuhs spoke with a teary voice. Oh dear, was he crying?

Eating was quite peaceful and quiet. It was painfully obvious how much her parents cared for her as Astrid was given plenty of food, along with an atmosphere without any maids in sight.

Astrid ate her strange soup that smelled slightly like blood. And also some other vegetables.

She slowly started to understand why the soup smelt like blood. She became sure that she had some kind was of deficiency of some sort. But she didn't know what. With her going into a new body, she still didn't know if this was the world she knew or not...

Astrid managed to get the hallway back to her room before needing her father to help her back. She quickly fell asleep, with both her parents looking at her with endless amounts of pride.
