Chapter 4 - Strangers

Tasha held her husband back. He was like a lion who just saw his enemy cross his land. She squeezed his leg from under the table knowing if she couldn't get his mind off Angela he would soon regret it. She did not know how to comfort her husband did the next best thing and squeezed his leg. He shook his leg to get her to let go, but she wouldn't finally after he couldn't handle the pain reached down and squeezed her hand. Not caring if she tried to help or not. To hide the fact her hand was in so much pain Tasha took her glass and drank it. James didn't let go until her hand was numb.

Not so very far away Angela had finally let go of her fake smile and cried. It wasn't a very loud cry if you weren't looking at her you couldn't tell she was crying. She got behind the bar and the waitresses, the cooks everyone that saw her did nothing. Just watched her slowly break inside and out.

Angela dug through the cupboards looking for another glass not finding any. Then headed to the sink rummaging through a sink filled with water she finally found a glass and washed it. slamming the now clean cup on the counter the tears started to flow again. She was feeling sorry for herself until she heard more low talks and whispers. Out of anger she screamed at them inside her head asking if they never seen a woman cry before, but knowing that if she did that James would kill her. Worse would have enough and fire her. She instead looked up to see a man soaked from the rain in a black formal trench coat.

His hair was messy from the rain and his eyes, eyes that were so deep she thought she would drown in them. They looked sad why did he look so sad. His eyes watched her as he walked over, but it was different than when Nathan did it. His eyes never left hers. Not once to her knowledge did he look at her body.

As soon as the stranger got up to Angela she couldn't help but ask. "Couldn't help but saw you sad is everything alright?"

He smirked at this. "You were crying and yet want to know if I'm okay?"

She smiled lightly embarrassed that he saw her crying "Really Sir it's nothing."

"How could you tell I was sad?"

"Well your coming in from the rain soaked, hairs a mess." As she grabbed a towel to dry off the glass she continued. "You don't bother to fix it."

"What if I just don't care what people think?"

Once again Angela smiled at his ridiculous answer, but could tell he was serious. It was kind of the face she would normally wear. Straight not to happy, but not to serious. Yet his eyes gave him away. She learned growing up about sadness. Two things actually, one you could cover it with a smile. Which was always a chore and got exhausting. Or you could act like everyone else and just be numb to the world. The eyes when she was sad she would look into the mirror and smile. Most people would buy it for happy and she did the same thing when she was happy realizing just cause the smile was the same didn't mean the eyes were. They were sad. When she got good at controlong her eyes as well she looked happy almost all the time. She couldn't tell this to him though. So she came up with something logical.

"Well there are only two reasons people don't care one because they have enough money, or they are sad."

The stanger stood there thinking for a moment not saying anything.

In the moment of silence it gave Angela time to clear her mind and finish drying the glass. Once she was done she looked up again to see him hand his coat to another man. to reveal a dark grey suit. He had fixed his hair it stuck together a bit as it laid smoothly against his head. You could tell he had abs and was the type to dress fit, snug, but never flexed. his facial hair was there for looks it made him look mature and somewhat dangerous. Yet she still got lost in his eyes. If he hadn't interrupted she probably would have started drooling.

"Better?"

She snapped out of it and looked back down at the cup. "I thought you didn't care." Realizing if she kept her head down he would thing something was wrong.

"Who said I do now? Why were you crying?"

Why did Sabastion Nite care if she was crying? Is it because there were people around? He needed to look good well she wasn't going to play along. She already had enough if the Nites for a life time. Not even noticing she glanced at the table where the Nites and Smiths were chatting. He looked over and looked back at her his eyes once again looked sad. Why was she feeling bad for him. He was Sabastion Nite. The eldest Nite brother son to the billionaire Alexander Nite. Not to mention owned a few businesses himself and at the age of twenty-nine was also a billionaire. While she the of twenty-eight didn't have a place to call her own. Worked in a run down restaurant working for an abusive asshole.

Ignoring his question she responded. "You must be here for the meeting, Mr. Nite they are in back."

"Yes I saw that, but actually I am quite thirsty do you mind getting me a drink?"

She looked down to look at the champagne glass in her hands. Only reminding herself of what happened right before Sabastion walked in causing all the happiness to disappear. Sabastion looked down, looked back at his family to see his father drinking champagne. As also the rest of the party and put two and two together.

"I'm sorry I'm late was that for me?"

Angela looked up in shock, but the tears started back up in her eyes. Leaving her face red and speechless all she could do was nod.

"If its no trouble could I change my champagne to a scotch.

This made her burst with laughter as tears rolled down her face she cleared them and asked neat or on the rocks, or do you like it with a twist?

Now it was his turn to be shocked. "I didn't know you knew so much about alcohol."

"I'm not just a pretty face you know."

"Well then I'll take a scotch on the rocks no twist."

"Man of my taste." She laughed again as she began to make it.

"Really?" He asked just studying her.

"I'm not implying that I'm an alcoholic just that I think it taste better on the rocks, but I'm more of a twist kind of girl."

"Is that so?" He grabbed his drink and laughed along side her. "Well maybe we should head in there before you get into trouble."

"You should worry about yourself more mister Nite. Won't your father be furious?"

"Yes, but my job isn't riding on tonight as to yours am I correct?"

Angela's face started to fall when Sabastion quickly responded. "Wasn't trying to upset you I'll be fine thank you for working though."

She turned to do more dishes as he started to walk back to his father. He turned back around and up to her once more. "I don't know how to get there will you show me?"

"Mr. Nite its right back ther...." She then thought best not argue and told him to follow her. They got to the doors and she opened them.

"Well its nice of you to finally join us." Alexander said with razor sharp eyes digging into his son.

"Hey were did you get that?" Johnathan piped ip after a long conversation with the Smiths.

"I got it from this talented young woman."

Again Angela's face turned red in embarrassment even more after crying.

"So she's a waitress a bartender, and she's beautiful." Nathaniel said which made both Tasha and Shelby jealous. James always furious with Angela, and Brice ignoring the rest of his family having a nice glass of champagne. What could go wrong?

"Well if you don't mind I'll take a whiskey." Johnathan said and Nathan ordered a scotch and winked at her. She asked if Alex needed anything else he declined politely while he enjoyed the glass of champagne.

Angela walked back out feeling better than she had the last time. She got the drinks ready just in time to see James storm out of the doors towards her.
