Angela ran so fast out of that restaurant hoping that no one would follow her. Not leaving room for crying or thinking just running, just getting away. She made it to her destination it was a nature park. It was the only place she felt safe, the only place she could really call her own. Walking the paths she let the flowers brush by her hands as she looked at all the nature beauty.
Most nature parks got dark and people would stay away not here. When it got dark here paths light up from the rocks. In the day time they look so real. The rock lights showed the perfect rock trail and they had lights in the trees making it look like fireflies. If you kept walking it would lead you to a beautiful Greek fountain. It had just the right amount of vines to make the fountain look antient. Yet the person or people that owned it kept up with the place keeping everything perfect.
Every time it rained the rain threatened to make the fountain overflow, and every time it rained it never did. After everything that was said and explained that still wasn't her favorite spot. Her favorite place wasn't known by many. You had to leave the public trail and venture into the woods. The park had ropes to keep people out of the forest there was no sign saying you couldn't it was just more of a respectable warning. A warning that there were no man made trails, or lights, and nobody really knew what lived in the woods.
She didn't need lights, man made trials, and she dared any animal to kill her. She got up to the ropes and looked around knowing if anyone saw her she could get into trouble and or kicked out. Once she was convinced it was clear she went into the woods followed the darkness all the way till there was a clearing, a look out on the edge of a cliff. As you looked out you could see all the lights. If you dared to imagine it could even look like a galaxy. She imagined what was beyond the lights of New York City.
This place was the only place left that she could still dream. She let the tears flow as she felt her face. It didn't hurt anymore than usual it just merely surprised her. He never hit her in public she really screwed up this time. She ruined James chance for a partnership of a life time he would for sure kill her this time.
She wasn't afraid though, nor was this the reason she was crying. The reason was one word the Nite's well technically that's two but still. Maybe things weren't perfect, maybe things could have gotten better. From the second they stepped in the restaurant and into her life they destroyed everything, everything that she worked so hard on. No that wasn't the reason either it wasn't their fault James would get worse eventually it was only a matter of time. If anything they did her a favor.
The only person to blame was herself in believing that she could be happy, letting her guard down hoping someone would save her. What was wrong with her? She stopped making those mistakes a long time ago probably right around the time her mom left. She just took off one day and never came back. No note, no goodbye, and no matter how much Angela called, and prayed her mom never came back. She learned a valuable lesson from that, being that nobody really stays. You can't keep someone around if they don't want to stay. The saddest part is you can believe everything is fine, you won't even know what you did wrong, you would even change if it meant that they would stay. So Angela shut people out, people can't leave you if you never give them the chance. So why where the Nite's different? Why did she almost make the mistake?
Angela was getting cold from the rain and about to leave when she saw a plane fly close by. She put her hand to her mouth as the memories came in waves that she sure thought would drown her. There was only one other time in all her twenty-eight years had she seen one that close. It was when she was little.
She had met a boy who followed her wondering why she got off the trail. He was the only one that she new also knew of that spot. She was furious and screamed at him to go away, and he did. It made her feel guilty and horrible she didn't see him again for weeks. One day she saw him in the park and wrote him a note to meet her by the fountain at dark. She didn't think he'd actually show up, but he did. She took him to the lookout, yet the whole time he complained and it made her laugh.
Once he got out there he asked a million questions, who was she, did she know him, why was she here, but he got silent when he saw the lights. It was like being in another universe sitting down in the grass they both stared at the lights and talked for hours. When a plane flew by his mouth fell open and Angela told him to make a wish. She closed her eyes making one only to open her eyes and see him staring at her. Pretending to be angry she slapped in the arm and told him it was for not making a wish. Unable to hide the laughter Angela bursted out laughing.
The young boy explained how he did not understand why he was supposed to make a wish on a plane only to be asked if he dared to imagine the lights as a galaxy what does a fast moving light represent? He didn't respond because he couldn't think of the answer only to have her laugh at him again and be told it was a shooting star. He started to make a wish but Angela cut him off once the shooting star passes you don't make a wish everyone knew that.
The boy put one of his fingers to his lips shushing her and made the wish anyways that the night they were having could be every night. His wish was so pure and so heartfelt that it got him hit again, but this time hard and not jokingly. He held his arm in pain asking why she responded telling him that if you wish out loud it would never come true. Even though Angela knew the wish was silly at the end of the night they made a pact to go every night. If something came up they would let each other know.
They saw each other for months talking about dreams, school, everything except for each others names. They like that the other was mysterious. Yet one day knowing he wouldn't be there the boy let Angela know she was okay with it as long as he promised to go the very next night. He promised and went back the very next night, but nobody knew what would happen. Angela's mother moved her away and for weeks she wasn't able to go back. When she finally did he wasn't there. They never saw each other again as the plane passed in front of Angela like all those nights ago she closed her eyes and made a wish this time she wished she could see him one last time.
Knowing going to the restaurant was suicide and home was complicated Angela called her friend Sarah, Sarah Jay. Sarah worked for a company for seven years and out of the blue decided to switch company's and started working for a rich asshole or so she thought based off what Sarah told her. Angela would be happy with her friends decision as long as Sarah was happy. Sarah always wanted Angela to leave the restaurant but Angela never listened. Sarah never left Angela's side though.
Once Angela called Sarah and decided not to go to the restaurant is when she received a text from James. He told her to fix things or she could kiss the restaurant goodbye. She would lose her job and have nothing. Angela so tired of his bullshit completely turned off her phone and went to her next destination she didn't even get a block when Sarah was there to pick her up.
