Chereads / The Strange Happenings of Caleb Micheals' Life / Chapter 21 - Chapter Twenty One

Chapter 21 - Chapter Twenty One

Aidan P.O.V

The morning after meeting my mother for dinner, I woke up to Caleb somehow still asleep. Normally he'd be up before me because of his morning sickness and cramps, but it seemed as if he was too exhausted to have woken up yet.

I leaned down, placed a soft peck on his forehead, and ran a hand through his hair before getting out of bed carefully and leaving the room. Since he was asleep, that gave me some time to make a couple of phone calls while cooking his breakfast. Walking to the elevator, I dialled my brother Grayson's number, letting it ring for a couple of seconds before he picked up.

"Hey, Aidan. Why'd you call?", he asked, sounding half-asleep.

"Hey, Gray. Are you free today?", I replied, my voice full of hope. We had yet to tell them about the pregnancy, and I didn't want to leave it too late since Caleb was already in his fourth month, so I'd rather them not find out from my father.

"Yeah, I should be. Why? Is everything okay?", he sounded more awake this time, probably having had a chance to wake up properly.

"Yeah, yeah, everything's fine. I just needed to know because me and my boyfriend wanted to meet you, Judy, Ethan and Toby for some coffee or something, if the others are free,", I assured, walking to the kitchen with my phone in hand. I gave a small wave to the few people sitting on the couches before carrying on to the other room.

"Oh, alright then. I'm pretty sure the others are free, so I'll text them the details. How does the coffee shop near your favourite restaurant sound? And at 1?", he suggested. I contemplated for a moment before deciding we'd both probably be up and ready by then.

"Sounds perfect. We'll see you in a couple of hours,", I mumbled, my phone held up by my shoulder as I bent down to grab some pans from the cupboards.

"Alright! See ya, little bro,", he said happily, and I heard the call cut out a few seconds later. I placed my phone on the counter before continuing with my cooking, listening to the Netflix show I had playing on my phone and occasionally glancing at it to see if I had any messages from my other siblings.

I awoke to an empty room, the only evidence of Aidan even being there is the outline of his body on the mattress cover. Groaning, I sat up and placed a hand on my growing stomach, the other shooting towards my back to try and soothe the pain I felt.

I stood from the bed slowly, my muscles aching more than ever before. I knew I'd get back pain, but this early on? I was only in my fourth month, and I felt the pain would worsen as the pregnancy progressed.

"Where is that boy when you need him?", I whined, sitting back down and grabbing my phone to call someone. I didn't know whether Aidan was busy or not, and Ry is always asleep until late on a weekend, so I decided to call Jordan.

He picked up on the second ring, which was very quick for him. "Hey Caleb, you good? Do you need anything? Did your dumbass boyfriend hurt you? I swear to god if he did,", he fumed, and I could hear him shuffling around, most likely leaving his room.

"No no, he hasn't done anything, you don't need to hurt him! I was just wondering whether you could come to his dorm. I don't know where he is and I can barely move, my back hurts,", I frowned.

"I'll be there in a minute, hang tight,", he huffed before putting the phone down. I said a quick thank you before putting my phone down and grumbling again, the pain irritating me way too much. Before long, the door opened, revealing my grumpy blonde friend with what looked like an ice pack in his hand.

"Hey, Jordan!", I chirped, clutching the bedside table to help my efforts of standing up. He shuffled over, pushing me back onto the bed gently and rolling me over. "What are you doing?", I asked, laughing.

"Helping you with your back pain. Brace yourself, this is gonna be cold,", he replied, sticking the ice pack onto my back. I shrieked in discomfort at first, shocked at the sudden temperature drop, but soon relaxed into it, seeing as it was helping to ease the pain.

"Thanks,", I smiled, looking over my shoulder at him to see that he was on his phone, texting angrily. "Who are you texting and why do you look more aggressive than usual?", I chuckled to myself. He looked up from his phone momentarily, shooting a quick sarcastic smile before looking back down.

"Your useless baby daddy. He should be here for you during this, not me, but he said he's making breakfast so I'll let it slide,", he shrugged, leaning back beside me. I turned over, hands reaching for his hair. He used to let me play with it all the time, but we'd hardly been friends again for long, so I hadn't gotten the chance. He leaned further down, allowing me to entertain myself with his spiky blonde hair for the time being.

"Your hair is always really fluffy, I swear. It just looks like it might take you out at first glance, but it's pretty,", I rambled on, his hair somehow distracting me from both my back pain and recurring morning sickness.

"Trust me, I wish it would take some people out most of the time. Especially Felix; he can be a right thick-skulled idiot,", he complained, rolling his eyes at the thought of our classmate. I laughed, knowing Felix could be quite the character most of the time; we once took him shopping and he ran to the kid's section, jumped on a small go-kart and drove past people saying "Broom broom, bitch".

"Hey, thanks for keeping me company. I have no clue how he's taking so long to make breakfast, but I'm glad he is. We haven't done anything in ages,", he scoffed at my words, most likely thinking of how he could do better than Aidan. They have a friendly rivalry, so it's not too serious, they're both just competitive.

"Whatever. And when will this guy be coming back?", he asked.

"I have absolutely no clue, but he better hurry up or I might just faint,", I mused.

"Whatever you do, don't faint on my watch. I'd never hear the end of it,", we both laughed before hearing the door open. My eyes lit up upon seeing my boyfriend walk through the door, a few plates in his hands, Riley following closely behind him with a couple of cups. "Speak of the devil,", he muttered, moving to greet his boyfriend.

Aidan put two plates down, bringing the other two over to me. He handed me one, bending down to place a kiss on my forehead and sitting down by my side. I smiled and leaned my head on his shoulder, making sure the ice pack stayed on my back.

"Good morning, love. Did you sleep okay? You looked peaceful this morning, so I didn't want to wake you,", he smiled, looking behind me and noticing the ice pack. He picked it up and looked at it closely. "What's this for?"

"Morning Aidan, and yes I did sleep well. That's an ice pack. My back hurt this morning, so I asked Jordan to come and help me and he brought that,", I shrugged, watching as a frown formed on his face. "Is something wrong, babe?"

"Oh, no. Nothing is wrong, my love, don't worry. I'm just upset you're getting back pain this early on and there's nothing I can do,", he rubbed my back and held the ice pack up against it. "But if you're not feeling well, I should probably cancel our plans and reschedule them,".

"Plans?", he nodded, holding a fork of food up to me. I ate it, watching him intently as he began to explain.

"Well, I thought we could meet up with my siblings and inform them of the pregnancy. We don't have to, though. I don't want to put you through any more discomfort,", I shook my head at him, swallowing what I had in my mouth quickly.

"We can go! I'm going to have back pain regardless of what we do, and they deserve to know. Let me eat, and then I'll get ready to go,", I insisted, turning my head so he couldn't argue back.

"You're so stubborn, baby. But fine, we'll go. We're meeting up with them at 1"

"Alright. And you know you love me, Aidan,"

"That I do, babe. That I do,"
