Aidan P.O.V
The school day was coming to an end, and the class was quite boisterous. After Felix had suggested a trip to a beachy place as a class, no one could settle down, especially not the girls. Lunchtime was filled with their excited voices, all squealing about what swimsuits they would wear and whether their crush would like them. God, they might be eighteen, but they still act like teenagers.
Now, we all sat in the last class of the day, anxiously waiting for the teacher to stop talking so that we could go back to the dorms and search for a decent place to go. There were ten minutes left, but they had asked us to type up an answer to a scenario question that we would then email to them to mark.
Glancing over at Caleb, I saw him resting a hand on his stomach and using the other to rub his temples before he returned to writing. Now being four and a half months pregnant, his stomach was bigger than in his third month, though it was still considered small for twins. I supposed it was since he was so lean before the pregnancy, and the doctors had reassured us that was the reason for it.
I smiled at my boyfriend before turning back to my laptop screen and returning to work. Just as I finished up my paragraph, the teacher clapped his hands together to signal the end of class. Hastily, I shut my laptop down and placed it into my bag, heaving a sigh as I zipped it up and slung it over my shoulder before shuffling to Caleb's desk and helping him stand up.
"Thanks, Aidan,", he chirped, bending slightly to grab his bag off of the floor.
"You know, I can do that for you. There's no need for you to push yourself when you have people to help you, especially since you've already got back pain and your morning sickness still hasn't gone away,", I complain as I grab his bag and place it over my other shoulder before he can stop me.
"Aidan,", he whined, dragging my name out. I turned to face him, shrugging my shoulders and biting my lip. He blushed, crossing his arms and walking past me. I followed after him, a chuckle bubbling up as I watched his cute little stomp down the corridor. We had left the class a little later than everyone else, so they were empty, and they made him look so small.
"Come on, babe. You can't be mad at me for carrying your bag for you,", I laughed, but he just kept walking. "Oh my god, Caleb. Look at me, please,", he turned slightly, cheeks puffed out. "I'm just trying to help. I worry about you, okay? You're doing all the work in this pregnancy, and I want to be able to help you out in any way that I can,".
His face softens, and he makes his way over to me. His arms slithered around my body and he rested his face in the crook of my neck. I hugged back, kissing the top of his head and testing my chin atop of it.
"I'm sorry. I thought you were viewing me as weak, and I hate when people assume that,", he mumbled. I rubbed his back and pulled away, looking him in the eyes.
"It's alright. We've had a long day. How about we get back to the dorms and you just have a little nap, yeah? I'll take care of dinner and packing for the group trip,", he nodded gratefully and yawned before grabbing my hand. I reached up to ruffle his hair, smiling at his tired state. "You're too adorable, you know that?"
"Thank you, but I feel like a whale,", he airily replied as we walked. Frowning, I squeeze his hand and bring it to my lips, kissing the back of it. He laughed, bringing our conjoined hands to his stomach and resting mine flat on top of it. "It's worth it for these guys though,", the corners of my lips turned up, and I rubbed my hand soothingly over the area.
We reached the dorm quickly, spending the rest of the journey in comfortable silence. As soon as we walked through the doors, I kissed Caleb goodbye, and he headed straight to my dorm while I went to the kitchen.
"Hey, Aidan! How's Caleb doing?", I heard a cheerful voice echo behind me as I entered the kitchen, turning to see Felix's enthusiastic face. I offered a slight smile while I walked to the kitchen counter and grabbed a few things from the fridge.
"He's doing alright. He's still got morning sickness and his back hurts, but he's dealing with it all quite well,", I assured him. He nodded in understanding before sitting down at the breakfast bar in front of me and folding his hands together on the table.
"I'm glad he's doing good. What about you, man?", I paused a little bit, hands placing the knife I had been holding down on the table. Tufts of hair shaded my eyes from sight as Felix shook a tanned hand in front of my face. "Aidan? Dude? You there?", I shook myself out of my trance, resuming my cooking preparation.
"Sorry, I spaced out for a second there. I'm doing okay, thanks. I guess I'm just worried about Caleb, even though I know he'll be okay,", he looked at me in understanding, and I could only shrug a little and finish off chopping the ingredients.
"You sure you're doing okay, Aidan? With all that's happened, I'm sure you must be feeling a little overwhelmed too,", I nodded, shooting a friendly, genuine smile his way in thanks for being concerned.
"Seriously, Felix. I'm alright. I've had my fair share of shit, but I can handle it, and Caleb is always there when I've needed him,", he stood up at that, walking around the counter to rub my shoulder. I tensed up slightly and, noticing this, Felix removed his hand, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Sorry, sorry. I forget you're not one for physical contact. But I'll leave you to your cooking now. Oh, and we're leaving for the trip in three days, we decided on a beach nearby and booked some hotel rooms. Sound good?", I nodded, waving at him slightly as he left the room.
I finished off my cooking quickly, making a pasta dish with a mix of chicken and vegetables in it for Caleb and me. Then, after grabbing a few water bottles, I set off upstairs, staring lovingly at my boyfriend when I opened the door and saw him sleeping peacefully.
Setting everything down onto the table, I turned to the bed and sat next to Caleb's figure, gently shaking one of his shoulders until he stirred awake. He groaned softly as he screwed his eyes shut, his delicate hands pulling the blanket further over his smaller frame and resting above his head.
I rolled my eyes but, regardless, lowered myself down to kiss his cheek and run a hand through his hair. "Caleb, love, it's time to wake up. I made food for you. Come on,", I prompted, making him shoot up in his seat.
"I love your cooking. Where is it?", I passed him a plate and set a water bottle beside him, making his face light up. "Thank you, babe,", he smiled, digging straight into his meal.
"Anything for my three favourite people. Also, the trip is in three days, so I'll start packing tomorrow after school,", he nodded, resting his head on my shoulder as he continued his meal.
"You know, we could've just gone on a separate trip"
"Yes, but this will be some of our last free time with the class before the twins come along, love. Plus, I'm sure it'll be nice to go somewhere and spend more time with Jordan and Riley,"
"Good point. But can we still have some time away from the group?"
"Of course, baby. I love you, and I'd do anything to see you happy,"
