Caleb P.O.V
My hands trembled as I heard the voice on the other line. It's Aidan's father. The one who had abused him ever since he was a kid, and he had the nerve to call me? Why was he calling me now? 'Wait, has he hurt- no. Don't think like that,', I thought, taking a deep breath before replying.
"What do you want?", I muttered into the speaker, trying my best to keep my voice steady. From what Aidan had told me, he can pick up on weaknesses. No way was I letting him suss me out, especially not when this could be to do with Aidan.
"Well, my boy, I just so happen to be with my son right now and he has informed me of some... shocking news,", he started, tone full of pride. My breath hitched. 'He didn't tell his father, did he?'. A shallow laugh could be heard on the other line, and then he continued speaking. "I've just discovered you're carrying my grandchildren by some miracle, no?", his words brought the nauseating feeling back to my stomach, and I had to fight off the urge to end the call right then and there.
"What would give you that impression, sir?", I finally asked, acting oblivious.
"Don't play games with me, boy. We both know the truth. Now, I'm going to get straight to the point. I would like to meet you tomorrow and discuss some arrangements for when my grandchildren are born. Aidan will be back at the dorms soon. Good chat, Caleb.", he finished, ending the call before I could get another word in.
The phone slipped out of my hand as I sunk into the couch, processing everything that Aidan's father had just said. How could one man be so scary yet so pathetic at the same time? My hands found their way to my face, and I pressed my fingers to my temples, stressed out.
The silence of the common room was deafening. I couldn't stand it any longer. Slowly, I grabbed my phone again, sending a message to Riley, asking him if he was awake. He replied within a minute, saying he'd be downstairs with Jordan in a second.
True to their word, I heard the elevator open a minute later, revealing my two best friends with worried looks on their faces. Flashing a small smile, I wrapped the blanket around my shoulders and walked over to them before engulfing them both in a hug.
"W-what the hell, Caleb? You woke us up for this?", Jordan asked, but returned the hug, regardless. I didn't reply, simply hugging them both tighter before relating them from my grip. By now, my rage had faded, leaving my eyes swarming with tears. "Hey! Why are you crying, dumbass?"
I wiped my eyes, lowering my head slightly. "He knows...", I whispered, fiddling with my hands. They both remained silent, unsure of what I meant. I blinked, turning to walk to the kitchen and grab a drink. After pouring myself a glass of water, I took a sip and regained my composure.
"Aidan's father knows about the pregnancy, and he wants to meet with me tomorrow to discuss the future of his grandchildren,", I said blankly, watching as the water in my glass rippled. A few seconds later, the sound of a wall being punched echoed in the room, jolting me to look up and see Jordan, his fist bleeding and a hole in the wall right next to him.
I dropped the glass, scurrying to the kitchen and grabbing the first aid kit so that I could patch up his hand. From up close, I could see the rage on his face. His nostrils flared with every breath, and he had his lips pursed into a thin line.
Riley stood awkwardly by his boyfriend's side as his hand was patched up, keeping a comforting hand on his shoulder. His hand was bandaged in a few minutes, and we all sat down on the couch.
They sat patiently, letting me explain the phone call I had with Aidan's dad, then suggested that I talk to Aidan when he gets back. I reluctantly agreed, knowing he would want a say in this considering it's his father. Plus, if he already knows about his father, we could go together.
Before long, it was 10:30, and I decided to send Riley and Jordan back to bed, saying that Aidan would be back soon. They agreed as they both felt tired, and I resumed my position on the couch, watching the door again.
My eyes fluttered closed, and I awoke sometime later to the sound of a door opening.
Aidan P.O.V
I pushed the door of the dorms open, still seething from seeing my father again. I was perfectly fine without him, but now he's interfering with my family. He has no right over my kids and he's not going to be a part of their lives.
I stepped foot into the building, only to notice an asleep figure on the couch. I began walking towards them with some hesitation, a soft smile falling onto my face when I realise that it was Caleb. When I saw his face, it was as if all my worries faded away. With utmost tenderness, my arms reached underneath him, scooping him up so that I was cradling his body in my arms.
His eyes fluttered open, but I simply shushed him, placing a feathery kiss on his forehead. An angel-like smile broke onto his face, and his hands gripped my shirt before he fell back into a light sleep. Resisting the urge to pinch his cheeks, I held his body closer to mine and walked to the elevator.
I pushed the button to my floor (with a small struggle), then waited until it got to the correct floor. Then, I unlocked my room, placing his small frame gently onto the mattress so that I could change into something more comfortable.
After grabbing the first thing I saw, I changed, throwing the clothes from today into the laundry basket. Sudden exhaustion took over me, and I found myself crawling into bed next to my boyfriend, my arms holding his body close to mine as my hands planted themselves onto his stomach.
A content smile stretched onto my lips. 'This is my family. I don't need my father interfering with that, so I'll protect them with all I have,', I silently promised myself, determined to be the best I could be for Caleb, and our kids.
Taking one last look at his sleeping figure, I allowed myself to settle down after a difficult day of dealing with my dick of a father, my mind drifting into a content state.
"Night, baby,", I whispered, closing my tired eyes.
