Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Two love birds

They rushed to he classroom with their new deal in mind. Now they would lean on each other. They were romanticizing their situations. Both desperate to have something, to have someone they can keep and cry to when it gets hard. But Miles isn't the type to trust on this kind of thing. He's a wall with many cracks all over it.

They discretely got to the classroom door hiding away from other teachers and securities, when they walked in together, as usual in a classroom, everyone turned around to look at them blankly for no reason in unison too. But the scene was actually different this time. To see these two different worlds walking in as one after what had just happened was confusing. He felt some pressure with so many eyes weighing in on him but being in back of her alleviated that weight. He was still processing the deal he just sealed with a kiss. Mr Barbick was staring at them putting two and two together but he let it slide.

"Go ahead sit down you two." He said with a look of relief .

They took their seats. While Miles' blood pressure was through the roof and his heart beat out of rhythm and skipping beats at the thought of what had just happened.

-we kissed.- crossed his mind after a little thinking.

-we kissed.- repeated in his head. Over and over and over again. Questioning its reality, if it was a real situation or if this was all a dream. He simply couldn't believed it had happened. This was far too odd. He wondered if they were a couple, at least an unofficial one. His first girlfriend. He couldn't believe it was the girl he dreamed of this whole time.

His head was filled with these thoughts until the class ended and the bell rang. Exiting the classroom he wondered if he should walk her to class, or just say bye, he was confused and inexperienced. But she came out of the classroom and pushed him from behind in a playful way. He turned his head around to look at her, and saw her smiling, holding on to his backpack straps and tucking in behind him. Looking up at him and he couldn't believe he had her.

"C'mon, let's go to my class." She said enthusiastically. He could play that sentence in his head over and over.

Many people were staring at them, many guys seemed mad and confused. Many guys wanted her to be like that with them but the depressed hoodie kid had her for some reason. Didn't really make sense, it was like looking at a cat getting along with a mouse kind of odd. But regardless all they could do is swallow it up and move on. Now it was time for him to walk her to class.

Once they started walking side by side he started feeling awkward and even walking rigid. He didn't know how he was supposed to act. He had forgotten the feeling of being with someone in general but this was also a whole new situation.

-….-

"Hey!"

-?-

She called him out of his trance and he looked over at her and she had that same smirk as always.

"Your nervous aren't you?" She questioned seeing as he was completely out of it.

His mind was still blank as they were walking and he was barely noticing how he was so awkward at the moment unlike the other days when they were together. But he felt a little more at ease when he thought to himself -She's mine.- and he fixed himself enough to say-

"Yea, but well, this is a sudden situation I'm in."

"Don't think about it so much, just act like you always do." She said putting him at ease.

Still, the two love birds remained mostly quite throughout their little walk to class. And once they reached the classroom door, she gave him a quick shy side-hug while blushing and walked away into her class waving goodbye. From the corner of his eye he could see people staring at him, like wolves looking at another when it has food. But this time he didn't care. All his worries were leaning on her and hers were leaning on his. He felt atop the clouds, at the peak of Everest, indestructible and didn't care how they stared. Wether he heard laughter or insults he wouldn't mind. He walked away and went to his classroom. This time, he had his head up high.

His day went on as usual. The chain remained and got quite a bit heavier. It was blethering a bit. So he decided after school to go there. And he didn't see her for the rest of the day. He didn't see her after school either so he just walked home. He should have looked for her but he was love-high and didn't want to stress himself out so he just went.

-I want to tell them, I've got to tell Ashlyn and Avighna about this. I followed along to what they said and it all worked out.- he thought like a kid waiting to tell a parent how they won a game at school. So he took the detour past his house and walked to the tree where the chain had taken him. The hole at the roots still remained. He dropped his backpack on the ground at the roots of the tree. And started going into the hole.

This time, he was feeling for the fall,-not going to fall again.- he thought. He felt the fall and turned around in the tight space and wiggled out until his feet hit the ground. The cold dry ground. The vine covering the entrance were there still. He could see small rays of light entering through them, and after taking a deep breath he went out.

-?-

There wasn't "anyone" around. He started to walk around. The place. He walked aimlessly and his fear started to rise. The whole place was shades of white and black. So dead. He couldn't remember the path to the field or the playground. He only had the chain to follow. So he followed it.

For a couple minutes he walked looking down at the chain watching his feet. Feeling the cold of the dry forest through his hoodie cooling his eyes making them watery. Then he came across a building after a thick fog. He kept walking towards it little by little with caution as he didn't know what could be behind that fog. As it cleared, he kept walking and in on more step it all turned clear, as if he walked through a wall.

And he saw a cabin. A small cabin, brown, beat down, old and barely standing. With a porch and 3 wooden old chairs around a small table.

-????!!-

A loud creek sounded. Getting Miles on guard. He stood in a position perfect to run away. And then then the door fully opened of. He still couldn't see what it was that was behind the door as the door covered it. Then he saw a hand reach for the of the door. And softly step forwards and close tte door behind them.

It was yet another woman.

-…- his mind again went blank. As he just stared at her. She caught him staring from the corner of her eye. She closed her eyes. Tilted her head up and then to the side to stare at him, slowly, with a benevolent yet eerie smile on her face and her pupils dilated as soon as she saw him properly. Bright red pupils staring at him like a predator looking at their prey. But there was something off about her.
