Chereads / Tryhard / Chapter 2 - Breakfast

Chapter 2 - Breakfast

Greg woke up from his slumber, he checks the clock and its 7:15 in the morning.

He quietly rushed to his fridge to check what to eat.

On his fridge, there's only a considerable amount of food that can last him a week.

Greg is doing his best to be frugal about the food supply he have and tried to extend it to 2 weeks.

As he was eating his sandwich with only a ham and ketchup, he opened the tab he have when he killed his first ever prey.

Greg is thinking on what's the best paper to pick on his current situation.

"Considering the fact that I only have a kitchen knife, this will do."

Greg picked the

"But how do I apply this to my kitchen knife?" Greg asked himself

Then a tab appeared soon right after.

"Convenient, somehow I am calm despite the world is in chaos right now."

As Greg said that, he applied the paper on his kitchen knife.

<[Paper of Sharpness I] successfully applied!>

Greg sighed as he finished his sandwich and he heard a loud scream.

"HELP!!!" a scream of a man.

Greg walks towards his window on his second floor to check who's making the noise right now.

He sees a man on his 20s running away from zombies and he was screaming for help.

"I don't want to be involved by that guy." Greg jinxed himself.

The man saw him through his window and rushed to his house's door."

"Open, my good sir! please, help!" The man is knocking on his door loudly.

The man tried to open the door with the doorknob but luckily for him the door was not locked.

Greg came down with a serious look on his face.

"Why did you come here?" Greg staring daggers towards the man.

"Well.. I saw you through your window so I thought I'll be coming here."

The man sat down on the floor, panting and sighed of relief.

"So, what now? you brought the zombies to my house." Greg said with a bit of a serious tone.

"At least they did not chased me here." the man stood up.

"My name is Mark, What about you?" Mark held out his hand signaling Greg for a handshake.

As soon as Greg tried to reach out his hand to give him a handshake, Mark pulled his hand and tried to elbow him.

Greg's reflexes were a bit faster than Mark's elbow and dodged it with a duck.

Greg followed up with a punch from the liver but Mark backed away before the punch connected.

"Well, well, aren't you fast?" Mark is now on what seems to be a battle stance.

"I knew you were up to something as soon as you came here." Greg pulled out his kitchen knife that he have enhanced with the paper.

"Ain't that a cool knife, it's shiny." Mark slowly and slowly, walking towards Greg.

"Z-Zombies!" Greg looked frightened as he looked on the door.

"W-What?!" Mark immediately looked through the door.

There was nothing on the door, not even a single soul.

"W-Where?!" Mark looked back to Greg but he saw his side of his chest that's protecting the heart pierced.

"D-Dirty bastard!" Mark fell down on his knees.

Greg took out the knife from his chest and immediately covered Mark's mouth with a handkerchief.

Mark tried to scream but he couldn't. Greg closed his mouth really tightly with the handkerchief.

"i think the word you're looking for is, smart."

Greg took action quickly, he dragged Mark's body towards the dumpster behind his house, luckily for him there was no monsters on the way there.

"I killed a fellow human, that was faster than I anticipated."

Greg went back to his house but an unexpected guest appeared right in front of him.

"S-Skeleton?" Greg looked baffled as he see a skeleton standing on his hallway of his house.

Greg, slowly and stealthily went inside and closed the door.

Sneaking behind the skeleton, with his knife out.

The skeleton seems to be unaware of its current position.

as Greg creeped out behind him the skeleton faced his direction.

"?!" Greg surprised and hid behind his couch

the skeleton noticed him and tried to rush him with only its bony hands.

Greg then rushed the skeleton with the surprised attack, stabbed the skeleton through its skull.

Luckily for Greg the skeleton apparently died with only its skull damaged.

"That was anti-climatic.."

Greg see not one but two

"Wait what? I only killed one skeleton though?"

As Greg opened the tab, what he see from the tab was.

Pick a reward

The knife have poison effect, the damage depends on the target's immune system!

An ability that lets you see the stats of weapons, if it reaches a certain rank it can even see the status of other life-forms.

A robe that's imbued with a little bit of mana, it can give you a very slight boost of speed as you run, it's cloth might be a bit harder than wood, but the weight remains the same as a normal robe.

Greg looked stunned.

"It's the second day, and no one has ever killed a human being? I don't like the feeling of this."

Greg sat down on his couch and stared at the rewards for the time being.

"These three are great.. The knife for some good start but it can just be taken away if my guard is down, same with the robe.. the skill is convenient but I don't know what to do with seeing the stats of objects if I can't get even use them."

"Screw it, I'll choose this." Greg picked the

a tab appeared

"So there are stats now? What, is this a RPG game or something?."

"How can I use this skill of mine.."

a tab appeared

"I don't like the gist of this, seems like God is watching me right now."

Greg looked to his kitchen knife to check status.

It's sharpness surpasses of that regular kitchen knife.

DURABILITY: 102

SHARPNESS: 5

"The fact this is just a I rank, I wonder what does H rank do."

Greg took another kitchen knife and checked its stats.

DURABILITY: 105

SHARPNESS: 4

"Huh, so kitchen knives have a fixed durability of 105? that's neat." Greg went to his room again, it's been two hours since he ate his breakfast.

"I wonder how well I can do this in this new world"
