Chereads / Protectors : Human & Demon / Chapter 36 - The Basement Room

Chapter 36 - The Basement Room

What they see behind the iron door is a room with 4 people currently inside. Two of them are standing near the door on the right side and the left side of the room. One of the people is sitting on a chair that could only be said as the only nice piece of furniture in the room. And the last one could be seen squashed underneath the heavy iron door, with its head and chest could particularly be seen sunken down, indicating that the bones underneath are broken and punctured the organ beneath it.

The two bodyguards of the boss are lucky enough that they are positioned at the right side and the left side of the door, giving them enough reaction time to completely dodge the flying iron door, while the middle one seems to be unlucky that he wasn't able to dodge it and his reflexes is not quick enough for him to use fusion to strengthen himself to take the blow.

Seeing their friend who has been through thick and thin together with them is now lying lifelessly on the ground with his head squashed, the two bodyguards can't hold in their anger and charge straight to the three intruders, aiming particularly at the stone-masked kid who is at the most front, assuming that he is the one who blasts the door open and killed their friend.

With their experience as an assassin, who excelled in ambushes and quick assassination, their dash is very fast to the naked human eye, and although they attacked directly from the front, their movement should be fast enough that it should be unseen for ordinary human and even a blur for people that already have their second job.

The two bodyguards are really proud of their attack speed and their jobs and skills are also speed-oriented, assuming that their enemies also have reached their second job or worst case their third job, they are confident that they will be faster than him, who should have jobs and skills oriented to strength, seeing that he can easily blast through an iron door with his bare hand.

They launched their attack perfectly at the moment when their enemy was not paying attention, their skills activated, and years of assassination experience told them that their dagger will successfully kill the stone-masked kid in front of them.

But when their attacks are directly in front of the kid, what they feel next is not their dagger cutting through flesh, but instead, they feel an immense pain striking their chest. And without being able to do anything their bodies are thrown away to the side and they laid face up on the floor.

"Hey, I can deal with that kind of attack on my own, no need to interfere."

"But I want to be useful too, I won't let you do all the fun parts on your own," Faust said as he retracted the two earth pillars that he conjured from the ground to counter the two bodyguards' charge.

"Now just to be safe." Faust then binds the two bodyguards to the ground by conjuring earth magic to restrict their limbs and their chest from being able to move.

"Now sorry, for taking a long time here. But are you the boss?" Faust asked the man who was sitting at the nice chair.

---

The boss looked at the two kids who were wearing a stone mask to cover their faces. Although he knew that there are three intruders this time, the third face of the intruders is someone that he knew very well, he had researched her for weeks and she is the one who made him come to this village in the first place, it was the village mayor's daughter, the target of his mission.

The boss is trying to be calm and observe the situation around him. He sees that his three bodyguards that he has his pride in are now unable to do anything. One of them is brutally killed by the flying iron door and the two of them are easily knocked out because of one skill from one of the intruders.

He also noticed that the kid at the back conjured spells without saying any chants or hand signs or whatever, he just waved his hand and the earth just bends to his will. 'He must be a high-ranking mage who focuses on earth attributes magic,' he thought to himself.

'If he is really a high-ranking magician, it is better for me to just not mess with him and let this incident be bygones.' Although the incident this time caused a lot of damage to the organization, he could always rebuild the organization again from the ground up, and they still have other assets in the other cities so he won't be really starting from zero, but if he died here, everything that he worked hard for so far will disappear just like that with him. So he decided to talk his way out of this incident.

"The honored magician gentlemen, it seems that I have made a mistake and made a mess in your turf, can you please just forgive this misunderstanding and let me go and leave and I promise I won't ever come near here again for the rest of my life. Let us leave this misunderstanding as bygones."

"So you will just leave like that?" The kid at the back asked.

The boss assumed that they asked for compensation so he replied with a smile, "Of course I will give you guys the necessary remuneration for all the problems that I've caused you guys."

"No, no, you are misunderstanding something here. We are currently given a mission to clean up a rat's nest that causes us problems, and now that we got to properly deal with the rat's leader, you told us to leave that rat and let it make another nest and cause problems elsewhere? Of course not right? Now that you already understand your situation, do you want to do this quickly which won't be fun for us but it is acceptable because you will be saving our time or do you want to give us yet another problem, but of course we will thank you for giving us the entertainment that we needed right now."

Seeing that there is no other way out, the boss decided to give his all and fight the two of them while searching for an opportunity to escape from this predicament.

"Don't get cocky you little bastards!" He used earth fusion which further strengthened his body. His current job is an advanced monk which is the higher ranked version of the monk job that specializes in strengthening their body to use them as a weapon itself, with his skin as tough as a steel plate that can deflect a sword slash, and his bones and muscles are as tough as a magic bear.

"Are you done?" Angra asked the boss.

Hearing Angra's taunt, the boss launched his body forward and struck Angra with his steel-like hand. For the first time, Angra needs to really put in an effort to deal with another human. All of his tough fights in this world so far are only against magic beasts and he always had Faust to back him up and they are able to defeat even stronger magic beasts than themselves, but right now that he found an opponent that can be considered quite strong and can trade hits with him, he is actually pretty excited, then he said to Faust

'Faust, can you let me handle this alone? It's hard to find an opportunity to fight humans that can exchange blows with me.'

'It's okay, we actually got plenty of time since we did the mission stealthily, we won't be discovered by the villagers or anything. But if you need help, don't be shy and just tell me.'

'No, thank you!'

Angra dodged and parried the boss' blow and counter attacked with his own punch and kicks. Both of their limbs are so tough that when they hit each other, it doesn't sound like a clash between bones and flesh, but instead their fist vibrates and bounces against each other as if a solid object are hitting another solid object.

"You're good old man! The me from a month ago surely won't be able to keep up with only using earth fusion!"

"Don't mess with me, you must also have your monk skills to temper your body, it is impossible to break through that steel door and parry my attacks with only earth fusion."

"Sorry to disappoint you, but I only have my first job and it's barbarian. And I don't have any chance to use the bloodlust skill."

"No way you're only on your first job! Your tricks and bluffs won't work for me!"

The boss thought that the kid in front of him must be joking, although he doesn't really believe that they are kids anymore and they must be small-people or a human-dwarf hybrid, since no way that a kid will be this strong. He actually didn't know if the kid is telling the truth or a bluff, but he knows that he won't be able to deal with the two of them and he needed to find his opportunity to escape from here as soon as possible.

He looked around the room and noticed something. The other masked kid and the mayor's daughter are currently only watching the fight, so the other masked kid must have been tired from using his magic earlier, and since he is a mage that mainly used earth attribute magic, the kid should not be able to dodge his charge if he suddenly attacks him and since he is a conjurer type mage, his body should not be strong enough to withstand his attack and thus creating his opportunity to escape. So he made a plan in his head and waited for the right moment to use his strongest skill to deal with the other masked kid.
