Chapter 10 - [10] The Second Young Master

Brooklyn stared at Carlyle. It has been months since he woke up and started rehabilitation and psychotherapy. Every single time Carlyle was there and never missed a time nor was late. It was more common that Carlyle would arrive early and assist him. David as usual was following behind Carlyle.

He didn't like Carlyle. His heart was full of bias towards the man. He gave the man the hardest time of his life during their first week. The avoidance was made easy because the previous Brooklyn's body would start hyperventilating or trembling whenever he sees Carlyle and worse if Carlyle touches him.

It took him a lot of training and persistence to subdue the psychological trauma. The process took a lot of his mental strength that he was almost asleep all the time. He needed to train the body to stop hyperventilating otherwise his lungs would be bothered and trigger an asthma attack which he abhorred. The first time he experienced the attack it was alienating and gobsmacking.

His lungs would feel like an inverted t-shirt with heavy pressure and a tingling sensation at its most inconspicuous corners. It was suffocating to the point that even coughing couldn't help him. Aside from that, it would prolong his hospitalization which he hates.

Days went by and he saw Carlyle's sincere dedication, his perception towards the man started to loosen. He admits that it wasn't Carlyle's fault or anyone for the matter but behind that rational truth, his despise from his unfair death and the previous Brooklyn's death would always spur bitterness in his heart.

Nevertheless, he decided to give Carlyle a chance and serve the best revenge he could——to live freely. He wants to treasure this miracle, to live freely till he dies of old age. That arrangement would be enough, to him, to everyone and most especially towards the previous Brooklyn.

After all, people change. And that's a fact he knew too well. He decided to hold unto it.

He will live freely till the end.

Right now, Carlyle was peeling him an orange. He couldn't help but stare at those eyes, it was captivating. If only he was in his own body he would have chased this man!

Carlyle's facial feature was mostly from his father's side: foreign and proud——very handsome. It was accompanied by his mother's pale blonde hair, but the style was straight like the father's. Helen would have run away with him if she saw him. Not that he would allow it! He loved beauty, he had always been an admirer of beauty and he would not lie nor deny that fact.

Carlyle Ire was handsome.

As much as how masculine and imposing Carlyle was, it was how feminine and docile Brooklyn looked. Brooklyn had his mother's curly locks, his lashes were thicker and longer than Carlyle's, his cheeks plump and round. His skin completely contrasted the caramel skin of Carlyle and instead was rosy white. His eyes were round and attentive, when it glossed over, it would look like a shining gem sought after by people. The lips weren't thin but plump and almost heart-shaped. Both brothers were blessed with very good genes.

And as far as how beautiful genes run in the family, both brothers were also exceptional in their fields. Brooklyn has sensitive hearing that added to his musical genius. But if choosing between the two brothers, he would still choose Carlyle more. Even if Carlyle resembled his ex-lover, he can't! It was his favorite! He loved masculine looks ever since but sadly even in his previous life, he wasn't masculine. Eating two times a day and without proper nutrition didn't give him the necessary nutrition to fully ripen. He was and never unlocked his full potential. Though he was thin and average he did have his charm, he was intelligent. Behind his average looks, he surely was not feminine as Brooklyn. If given a choice between the now and before, Hah! He would directly jump back in his own body on the spot. Though Brooklyn's had a heaven-defying beauty, he surely doesn't want a sickly body! He also wants to chase Carlyle, so having his previous body would be a big advantage.

But sadly he could only hope for it.

Carlyle was too handsome to deny. To protect that beauty he is willing to make sure that Carlyle's choice of partner was right. It didn't matter to him if it was Bea, as long as it was a good person. Though he couldn't deny the sense of crisis that he felt when it comes to Bea, after all that person cold bloodedly murdered the previous Brooklyn.

If Carlyle ends up with Bea, he could only make sure that Bea was good enough for this brother.

Within these two months never had he heard of Carlyle having a relationship, nor was there any indication, and neither did the man speak about it which made him curious.

Fumbling with his thumb he leaned in and called. "Brother.."

A soft fluffy voice poured into Carlyle's ears. He glanced up, his gaze soft and tender, and he smiled softly.

"What is it? I'm almost done." Referring to the oranges.

Brooklyn shook his head, "I want to ask you something."

Carlyle stopped himself and looked at his brother. Brooklyn's frail body had started to plum and the most affected part was his cheeks. The meat had thickened a bit and was noticeable especially if it hit the sun, the cheeks would become rosy puffing it more. He can't afford but pinch it.

"Aw.." Brooklyn massaged his cheeks. He knows, he was too cute to look at! But brother! Refrain yourself! Have mercy! It hurts!

Brooklyn glared at Carlyle who only grinned and ruffled his hair habitually.

"Brother can't help it, sorry. Anyways, what did you want to ask."

Carlyle watched as Brooklyn hesitated while massaging his cheeks. His brows furrowed worriedly and he grasped the rubbing hand. "Don't rub it anymore. Did I pinched too hard? Brother won't do it again."

"No. It's fine."

"You sure? Your cheeks are red. Don't rub it anymore." Brooklyn nodded. He grabbed his pillow instead and hugged it.

"Your question?" Carlyle reminded.

Brooklyn hesitated and didn't meet Carlyle's eyes.

"Whatever it is, just ask. It's fine."

Hearing the encouragement, Brooklyn fired away. "Do... Do you have someone you like, like right now, Brother?"

Carlyle's gaze furrowed. He had never talked about it even since before because he was never sure if the other party was the 'one' but right now. Remembering someone in particular a sweet smile blossomed in Carlyle's face.

Brooklyn gulped as he stared at Carlyle's expression. His brother was obviously in love. His eyes flicked at the door when he saw it ajar. His gaze landed at the familiar silhouette, he immediately averted his gaze and inquired further.

"Ah, yes. I do plan to introduce you after your recovery." Brooklyn's eyes widened. Carlyle was already planning to introduce them? His apprehension grew.

In the past two months, he had seen different versions of Carlyle and he had also long changed his views towards him. So he calmly smiled which made Carlyle taken aback.

"You're not angry?" Brooklyn shook his head.

"Of course, I already thought so. Brother is at that age already. I was just wondering."

"What kind of person are they, brother?"

A sweet smile crept onto Carlyle's lips. "That person... Is strong-willed, kind, loving, very understanding."

"Can I meet that person?"

"You want to meet her?" Was it Bea after all? Brooklyn darted his gaze at the door, the silhouette had gone.
