He placed the nebulizer beside him in the back seat of the car and looked in surprise when he saw Butler Wang in the driver's seat.
"Butler Wang, you're gonna drive?" Wanting to tease.
Butler Wang replied, "Don't worry, Young Master. I'm still very much capable of driving you safely."
Brooklyn puffed his cheeks. "You know that's not what I meant, Butler Wang!" Butler Wang can't help and curl a smile.
The Osman estate was centered in a mountain. It was deeply hidden as it was the main residence of the main family of the Osman clan. One of the titled Archdukes in the royal hierarchy.
Brooklyn's car drove towards the gate, alongside the path was a series of blinding wisteria, they then reached the gigantic gate which opened via AI control. When they went past, all he could see were endless maple trees and bushes. It took ten minutes before they reached another private road and saw some houses which were owned by servants or long distant relatives of the Osman clan. The house was high-end, some were so-so, the whole place was a large compound.
The private road would lead them to the main highway but before they would need to stop for a security check. Butler Wang gave his identification card, scanned his eyes and fingerprint, and signed his reason for getting out. The guards that were in charge gave their respective bows when they knew of Brooklyn's presence.
Brooklyn could only roll down the car window, give a blinding smile that stabbed everyone's heart and blinded their eyes, and bid a: "Have a great day!"
The guards once again gave their thanks. If Butler Wang didn't press on the gas, it would have been nonstop. Brooklyn enthusiastically waved goodbye after all he was going out for the first time that it wasn't for the hospital.
The scenic landscape turned from green to blue, and various greys as they went deeper into the city. Skyscrapers shielded every street from the setting sun like gigantic bamboo poles and the people resembling ants walking beneath it.
They arrived at a gigantic building that was made out of glass. Some of its parts were blinding as the sun hit its reflective surface. Butler Wang immediately drove to the private underground parking. The AI security system registered the plate number and when it matched with the one in its database, the locked door opened and they descended underground: two floors beneath the building.
Brooklyn ogled at the various branded cars parked underneath. Most of it was regular black bulletproof cars. When the car was properly parked, he got out of the car and stretched his sore muscles.
"Should we bring your nebulizer, Young Master?" Brooklyn turned and shook his head.
He glanced at his watch and added. "No need."
Butler Wang nodded and proceeded to carry the bag where the snack was packed.
"Did you call my brother?" Butler Wang shook his head. "Like what you ordered, Young Master."
"Good. Good." He replied with a smile. One of the reasons why he didn't want Carlyle to know was he wanted to meet Bea and see how Carlyle would react when placed between them: the cute brother or the recently acquired girlfriend.
He wanted to take this chance to study Bea and probably create a rift between the couple.
If Bea dared to be rude or slight him, Carlyle would surely become hesitant. If that happens it would create more advantage for David. But if Bea was otherwise he would let it be and advice and help David in moving on.
It's all a win-win situation for him.
As he had seen from the memories, during this time Bea would also go and bring some eateries to Carlyle's office while poor David just sits outside his desk, filing papers, answering calls, and typing on his computer. David was so poor. He felt his heart hurt with pity.
All in all, he wished that Bea would vote herself out. He doesn't want to play a villain and damsel with her. Just vote yourself out and fuck off, please.
"Young Master? Are you fine? We have arrived."
Brooklyn blink then he saw Butler Wang standing outside the elevator.
"Oh. Sorry. Haha. Let's go, Butler Wang!" He led the way but after a moment of walking, he stopped and turned around causing Butler Wang to abruptly stop too.
"Butler Wang~ I don't know where to go..." Brooklyn's face heated up as he blushed in embarrassment. He or the previous Brooklyn neither had any memories with the company; it was presumptuous of him to walk first.
Butler Wang pursed his lips, his eyes glinting with mirth. "It's fine, Young Master. Please, follow this servant." Brooklyn strutted behind silently.
The first forty floors were connected with one elevator, if you needed to go up higher you would walk to the other side to reach another forty floors and use a private elevator to reach the CEO's office which was located on the top floor. But Carlyle also has his mini office on the seventeenth floor. It's for when he is in a rush or he has meetings with other board members.
When two unfamiliar figures suddenly walked in the middle of the busy office everyone couldn't help but be curious and shot glances at them while hushing in the corner. When their eyes landed on Brooklyn they couldn't help but stare. The kid was too cute! Too angelic! They gawk at him. Some couldn't contain it and snapped a picture and shared it in the company's forum.
Everyone should see this beauty!
David who was eyeing everything saw the pop-up notification and pressed it. His brows rose when he saw the side view picture of Brooklyn. The kid had never visited the company before, he was quite surprised. He was about to call Carlyle when he remembered that the person was still in a foreign conference meeting, though it would end soon.
He adjusted his posture. He didn't bother about it much, since he also knew that his best friend would be happy about it. And when he thought about it further: the kid didn't announce his presence so he deduced that Brooklyn wanted to surprise Carlyle.
He was happy for the siblings' development. Everything was returning to how it was before. His thin lips perked up as he closed the forum and went back with his typing, his mood elated.
The doorbell of the elevator dinged and he stood up ready to greet the younger sibling only to find a tall woman. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail. She had a strict momentum, high arching face, and strong direct eyes. She was wearing a pair of white long sleeves and grey trousers. Her heels clicked behind her. The red lipstick was like blood in a bullet, striking-hot.
David didn't have the mood anymore. His lips pursed and he looked away.
Bea raised her brows, her eyes glinted with a particular curiosity. "You never greet me, why are you standing there?"
David dully stared at the woman before him as if looking at something particular then he tore his gaze away dismissing her existence. He sat on his chair and dryly said, "He's having a meeting."
Bea placed the lunch box on David's table. David eyed the object and scrunched up his nose, sensing fish. He was allergic to it. He subconsciously strolled his chair away whilst typing. Bea saw this and she can't help but feel insulted and sneer in her heart. Since she met Carlyle this man had never liked her but she can't get why. She had racked her brains about it but she couldn't find the reason as to why this person would dislike her.
She stared at the man who was ignoring her. "I know you don't like me but I don't get it. I don't think that I have offended you in any way. What's your problem?"
David glanced up, his irritation building. He doesn't have the least bit of patience for this woman. She was Carlyle's girlfriend, fine, he could make a leeway but can't she see that he doesn't want to talk to her at all? Problem? Wouldn't that be her?
He sighed. "I don't know how you came up with that idea Ms. Dean but please. First, we are in the company. I have a job to complete."
David turned around and went back to his work. He aimlessly clicked and clicked with the mouse under his command, the force more hard than normal. He was already finished with today's files but now, he was just opening and checking some of them for an excuse.
Bea chewed her cheeks, trying to contain her anger. She grabbed the lunch box and sat in the corner, on the black leather sofa, and crossed her legs. Picking up her phone she sent a message to her lover then surfed the net. She saw the forum's notification and clicked it. Her brows raised when she saw the focal point of the sudden traffic.
It was a picture of a boy, around eighteen or seventeen, his hair was curly towards his neck, his eyes big and bright and his cheeks plum. He was cute, she thought. She heard the familiar opening of the door and a smile went to her face. Her eyes shined as she saw her lover walking towards her. His gaze with tenderness and a gentle smile on his lips. She stood up as he hugged her and kissed her cheek.
"Babe, how are you? It's Japanese today." She said as she hugged the man back.
Carlyle gave another kiss on her forehead. "That's good. Let's go inside? Sorry, I was having a meeting and I tried to shorten it but the other side was talking a lot." Bea chuckled and pinched Carlyle's nose lovingly. "It's fine. I didn't wait that long."
"Mr. Osman—" Their attention went to another voice.
"BROTHER!" Bea was taken aback when she felt Carlyle gently pushed her. She gave her boyfriend a deep look but his attention wasn't on her anymore. She blinked, this had never happened before.
She looked at David who was looking by the elevator then finally her gaze landed at the familiar face that she saw on her phone. She was more surprised when Carlyle walked towards the boy and offered a hug.
David who was watching her expression could only snicker in his mind and smirk. The sun has come, what could a lotus rival against its brilliance? Even though it's white, it doesn't shine.
