Chapter 4 - [4] The Second Young Master

The library was filled with hush tones and constant flipping of papers that lulled everyone to relaxation from their suppose serious concentration. Mikael propped down onto his chair, exhaustion clear in his knitted brows as greyish bags existed underneath his eyes. There was a mild throbbing at the back of his head that made him stare irritatedly on his book. The words seems to float beyond his eyes, beyond his grasped.

"Should we buy milk tea? I'm thirsty."

Mikael glanced at Tauro who was peeking from the book that he's holding, a big round glasses sat on top of his button size nose. He looked down at his squiggles and thought about the offer as he highlighted his notes. He needed a bit of sugar and something cold to cool his head.

"Earl grey with moose, large. Please~" He heard Lucas muttered to his left he glanced and saw the oldest twin of Lucian with droopy eyes hugging his arm.

"You're so lazy, Lu. Tauro, include me too... Mocha with extra cream.." Mikael snickered when he heard Lucian's words as he glanced up and saw Lucas glared at the youngest twin.

"What about you, Mike?" Mikael looked up from his notes, placing his highlighter and pen away. He was about to respond when he felt his phone buzz from his pocket and a loud ring disrupted the peaceful environment.

The students jolted from their seats. Lucas propped up fully awake. His eyes round and attentive. Lucian, his twin, snickered on the side silently. Lucas gave a glare and a 'hand' then turned his attention at Mikael.

Mikael's gaze landed at the ID caller, without worry and hesitation about the library's policy he answered the call after one ring, worry creeping into his sleeve.

"Bonie?"

"Heuk..ha..hah..."

"Bonie?! What's happening to you?!" He got up.

Everyone in the library jolted from the loud voice and twisted their necks in Mikael's direction, even Mikael's friends around the table were taken aback but Mikael didn't care, neither did he had the capacity to think about it.

Mikael bit his lips, his face slowly paling, an unknown bead of sweat slowly made out from his forehead, his hand turning cold and clammy.

Mikael ran without delay when he didn't hear Brooklyn's response and all he could here was the inaudible mumbling and coughing paired with groaning.

Tauro sighed and started picking up Mikael's belongings.

"To the classroom?" The twins nodded. They weren't in the mood to study anymore nor for milk tea, and started clearing their things too.

The librarian sighed. Seeing the emergency, they stop themself from calling a warning. The library went back to its original state while Mikael's friend could only worry themselves silently.

The second years were having their break and the two elevators were packed and the other one was still stuck on the seventh floor. with one quick look, Mikael took the staircase as he held the phone tightly on his ears. Brooklyn didn't answer him at all, but the coughing on the other side and groaning became worse which made him feel dread and panic that he had ones experience before. His mind went to that day in the bathroom filled with pale body and crimson blood. There was a lump of worry in his throat and he doubled his speed.

He gasped for breath, his leg trembled from each shock, fatigue slowly creeping into it. Two steps worth, three steps worth: He wondered when he would reach the first floor, everything seemed to turn slow all of a sudden.

"Bonie? I'm coming! "

"Don't turn off the call, Okay? Stay on the line. Stay with me Brooklyn Jade!"

He reached the first floor and saw many students that were like sands, he maneuvered his body like a wriggling worm and rounded the corner when an unfamiliar object collided with him.

"UH!"

Mikael instinctively closed his eyes and braced the bare impact on his butt. He cursed his misfortune and scampered for his phone and runaway not minding anything anymore, adrenaline fully controlling his senses.

"Bonie? Brooklyn? Bonie?!" Mikael looked at his phone and cursed.

A solid crack appeared in his phone, the screen dark with no function.

Why now?!

His face became grim, he climbed into his car, turned on the hazard, and sped off.

______

"I'm... fine... Ah.. ." Brooklyn muttered. He rolled to the other side and bit his lips as tears went out from his eyes.

Everywhere hurts.

Why does no one want him?

Why did he die?

How could he?

Brooklyn groan and vomit once again, but still, nothing came out. His saliva dripped from the corners of his mouth, a drop fell into the ground, it touched his hair making it wet. He coughed, his body shaking, bringing great tremors inside his body and it pulsated towards his head that worsened the pounding into a splitting crack like eggshells breaking into two.

He hated the coughing but the lungs wouldn't stop.

"Ah.." Mother... Mother.. Where are you? Why's everything dark?

Ah.. I can't breathe.

Am I dying? Will I die again?

The fear of falling from his balcony. The horrendous splatter of his human body against the hot pavement. The sickening smell of blood. He tossed and puke, nauseated.

Brooklyn gagged from the blocked airway his hand reached on his neck and started clawing it.

Pain. Endless pain.

When will everything end?

Ah... I'm dying. The world is turning. It's spinning so fast... Why? Who am I?

A figure in a bright area, his clothes swayed against the air, small purple-like things fluttered around, the long light brown hair swayed from behind. The figure's back turned to him and said something, he blinked not understanding anything. He watched as the figure gave off a smile and fixed a strand of his hair back into its ears and turned his back. He raised his hand trying to capture that person, but he couldn't. The figure continued to walk away till it vanished.

No...

Don't go... Come back..

What did I do wrong? Why?

Why? Come back...
