But Brooklyn didn't die.
His cousin appeared to visit right on time and saved him.
Brooklyn once again begged his cousin to keep the event from his brother to which his cousin agreed helplessly in exchange for him taking psychotherapy.
In contrast, the help didn't do a thing. In the end, the therapy became a psychological burden to Brooklyn. Instead for the better, he turned for the worse. He stopped going to his sessions and stopped tending on his body.
By this time the rumors had reached Carlyle's ears, it was when a dignitary that loves gossip unexpectedly touched the topic of Brooklyn's school. At first, Carlyle didn't mind, he wasn't one for gossip, but when he heard a familiar name, his attention was piqued and an uneasy feeling sipped from his heart, he decided to call for an investigation.
You could only imagine his anger after he received the reports.
He called Brooklyn to clear the matters, but his anger rose when Brooklyn tried to reason to him. He couldn't allow it and let Brooklyn pick between him being dragged or him coming by himself. Brooklyn could only drag his half-dead body to the city mansion where his brother lived.
At first, Carlyle tried to be calm, patient, and rational but when he was greeted by Brooklyn's indifference, he couldn't control his temper. He berated Brooklyn with harsh words even to the point of ridiculing him with his sexuality. But Brooklyn wasn't gay nor the rumors true. Brooklyn started defending himself but the timing was off, Carlyle was already muddle-headed and deaf. In the end, Brooklyn's body collapsed and was induced into a coma.
When the close cousin found out, it ended in a scuffle and divided the Osman clan into two factions.
Carlyle's lucky star was his girlfriend as they fought off the seeming man versus the world situation from his relatives. Bea cared for him. Nevertheless, things were destined to turn for the worst.
Bea was understanding but not to the point where her boyfriend's attention became: brother this and that. Every topic you will always hear Brooklyn's name: how he is this and how he is that, and if he was here he would love this and that.
She was fully overshadowed by Brooklyn who became Carlyle's reverie. She became suffocated to the point that she changed. Her anger and jealousy clouded her mind and heart.
It was stupid. But she was stupidly in love.
It was obsessive but what could be done when she already derailed?
No insane person would call themselves crazy.
Carlyle didn't get Bea's discomfort and suffering. He thought that everything was fine and Bea was only stressed and needed some time. His girlfriend was full of sister love towards Brooklyn which he was happy and proud about. He was thankful to her. He even thought and wondered about the distant future with their children. How Bea would care and love them; provide unconditional attention and love——She will be the best mother. He yearned for that day.
He only sighed it out and distanced himself as he faced the launching of the company's new product. Carlyle became busy with the event, and that created the space he wished and wanted Bea needed the most. He didn't contact her at all.
The one who was hoping to be wooed and pampered being a crazed ghoul. Her expectations dwindled and her hope extinguished. Her jealousy became anger and hatred, along with the unfounded helplessness.
One day, out of a habit she visited Brooklyn's hospital ward and talked. When she ended her monologue an evil thought went to her and she killed Brooklyn.
She didn't even regret it and instead became relieved. She acted pitifully and cried as she called the nurse.
When Carlyle heard about what happened to Brooklyn, his world collapsed. But his girlfriend was there and supported him once again. Their cold war ended and their love became unbreakable.
The other faction of the Osman clan was suspicious. The specialist that handled Brooklyn already reported that the patient was under slow recovery, and now a lung relapse? Their suspicion grew but nothing could be done, they could only lump it down angrily and watch like a hawk on the sideline.
The scandal of Brooklyn's bullying, the school's negligence, and the bullies were handled by Carlyle ruthlessly. It took a rough and bumpy process since the school had multiple dignitaries that didn't have simple backgrounds. But because of Brooklyn's death, Carlyle took it by his palm and won the case: the school closed, and he bankrupted all those families involved, and even their jail life wasn't spared.
Everything ended as Carlyle and Bea lived happily ever after.
But the truth was never uncovered.
He couldn't believe it. And for a bit, he thought what he watched was from a novel or something.
Brooklyn's life was full of dramatic shit and his death was left unjustified. The same as him.
A sour feeling erupted from his heart. His repulse towards Carlyle grew especially towards Bea.
He remembered what happened after his death. His lover became a suspect, but no matter how suspicious the officials were, they were won off by his lover's calm and innocent facade like Bea did.
His lover's reason was: at that time he went to their condo, he broke up with him and left, he didn't expect that he would commit suicide.
And then he was acquitted.
How could they live happily?
Indescribable loathing emerged from his heart. The rage had erupted far from forgiving. Maybe he just wanted to vent about his death. The unfairness. The anger of being stabbed by the person you love the most.
He couldn't accept Brooklyn's death.
He was born in the slums without any family to rely on. He faced the world with an indescribable level of bravery, and stubbornness because he needed to——to survive.
But knowing that Brooklyn had someone by his side but that someone didn't even take notice of Brooklyn's changes.
What kind of person was that?
Remembering the cold face of his ex-lover added another fuel to his hatred. How he wished he could smack them to bits.
How he wished he could smack both Carlyle's face and his ex-lover's!
Both of them should rot in hell!
How dare they!
His emotion clamored. If he can't get justice for his death, then why not make justice towards the poor kid?
If he could, he would…
Make them pay twice fold.
