Morning.
I'm Ivan Reginald Lucero, and today my life changed at evening.
What? I'm not making any sense? I'm not crazy. Just let me explain!
I'm from the noble family Lucero, one of the oldest families from this Tartan Empire. Our family has survived for millennia and served several different dynasties thanks to our secret power. Many noble families have special powers, but our Lucero family's power is on a different level. We can go back on time.
It's a cheat power? I can't disagree with you. But Let me tell you it's not an all-powerful skill!
There are many limitations. Okay? We are not gods!
First of all, only one person can have this power at a time. And I received it the first today, but I'll explain that better later.
Also, no one can receive this power more than one time.
And we can't even control it! Ah, I just got dumped with this f*cking annoying power! From now on I have to live every single day twice! I'm going to find that sh*tty uncle and beat him up!
But first, I have to relive today… Or do I?
"Good morning Young Master, breakfast is ready."
"Yeah, just bring it in Tom. And prepare my clothes. I'm going out today."
"But Young Master, today is a school day. The uniform is already prepared for you."
Well, it was supposed to be Saturday for me. But I would not tell that to Tom yet. He's a very capable and loyal attendant. But I need o find uncle first. Why did he pass this crazy power to me? Did he become crazy?
"Just do it. It's just a normal school day anyway" it's not my first-time skipping school, so Tom just gives me an exasperated look and sighs.
"I shall prepare it Young Master. Should I prepare the carriage as well?"
"No need."
Tom looked at me once more, then he bowed and left.
I know what he wanted to say. But if I ride the carriage now it will draw too much attention. I have to look for uncle. And if he sees the carriage, he might run away from me. His only strength was this time-reversing power. Right now, he must be afraid I'll beat him half to death.
I can't say I won't beat him a couple of times when I meet him, though.
*cough cough*
Tom just returned with my clothes.
I was eating while thinking about this, imagining where should I hit my uncle first. I must have had a very nice evil sneer for Tom to cough like that. He must have thought I wouldn't notice him otherwise.
"You can go now."
Tom looked at the table. He left the clothes on my king size bed and picked up all the empty dishes before leaving the bedroom.
"Don't forget this plate, Tom."
"Oh, I saw so much fruit on it I thought you were still eating, Young Master. I never thought you would still be so picky about food" Tom smiled and left. He didn't even take the plate!
I thought he would not mention my pickiness this time if I struck first. He knows very well I hate persimmons. How is that a fruit? It's liquid sugar!
I looked at the clothes on top of my bed.
Good.
Tom completely understood what I needed. These clothes would not call unnecessary attention towards me. They did not look like the type of clothes nobles would wear. But it was not the obvious fake-commoner clothes so popular among nobility kids who want to play around. It was perfect to walk all over town.
I put on the clothes and looked at the full body mirror. Yes, good choice Tom. I look like an average merchant son. Not rich enough to be kidnapped or extorted. Not poor enough to be targeted by thugs.
I just needed to comb my hair and put on the matching hat and it was perfect.
Time to leave the mansion.
I left from the side gate so as to avoid being immediately recognized. Our employees are very smart and well trained. All of them could recognize me, but they knew how to react. Inside the mansion they still greeted me like normal. But as soon as I stepped out to the garden, they stopped all that "Young Master, Young master" crap. They knew from my attire that I wanted to go incognito.
The side gate guards were specially used to this scene.
"Oh, going out early today."
"Up to no good, are we?"
Jay had a neutral tone. But Ron, what do you think of me? If someone heard you, they would think that I'm some kind of troublemaker!
I looked back in time to see Ron laughing and Jay hitting him on the head.
I went downtown hunting… looking for my sh*tty uncle. I knew some of the places he would be at today. But I did not know where he was at this time. I was in the academy the first today like I was supposed to. If I get in trouble in school because of today, then I'm going to hit uncle a few more times.
I started my search at the closest pub and inn, 'Twin Tails'. I searched all the dinning hall, but without luck. The lady owner saw me and called me over.
"Look here dear, if you are looking for that uncle of yours, he's not here today. He hasn't been visiting since a week or two even", the middle-aged lady promptly told me. Just how many times did this happen, that she immediately knows that I'm looking for uncle?
"Thank you. I'm in a hurry today, so I will be going now."
"Good luck dear. If your uncle stops by, I won't let him leave for you."
I was already at the door when the lady owner said so. I quickly turned around, and shouted a thank you while smiling. If she said so, I knew she would do it. That woman was like a lioness. Usually, you only saw her relaxed state. But she could turn into a force of nature that no ordinary man could match. If I couldn't find uncle, I would return to the 'Twin Tails'.
I searched a couple more establishments my uncle would have visited today. Now, I had to go to the backstreet establishments. Where in hell was he?
Just as I turned a corner, I saw a familiar shape.
"UNCLE"
