It's been three hours and still, there was no news. "What the fuck are they doing?" Tilda growled.
"Try to stay calm," Oliver said and shooed her away as he looked at the four kids that were sitting near them. "Can't you see? You are scaring the kids. We don't need that now, do we?"
"My mate is there," Tilda glared at Oliver. "And she is fighting with death and the damn healer won't let me in the room!" She growled the last part. "What do expect?"
"For you to keep your calm as an Alpha should and try to stay cool for your mate's family who can lose two people at the same time!" Oliver growled back. "And besides, we have amazing healers! They even said it wasn't that bad!"
It was the first time that the Beta growled at his Alpha and it wasn't a playful growl. His eyes nearly changed color to the bright yellow of his wolf, Blair.
"I guess you're right." Tilda huffed but she told herself to give Oliver a punishment later for growling at her. "But you will be questioned later."
"Alpha Grey." Tilda and Oliver turned to see Amanda standing near them. "Is that true?"
"Is what true?" Tilda asked even though she knew perfectly what Amanda was talking about.
"Is Annie your mate?" Amanda asked it with an unrecognizable emotion on her face.
"First of all," Tilda growled lowly. Grey didn't like the way she looked while asking this question. "You will not ever disrespect me like this and eavesdrop. You are under my roof and you will respect my rules! Do you understand?"
"Yes, Alpha." Amanda bowed her neck to show her submission. "But that's something I suppose I have to know. Annie is my daughter."
She has a point, Tilda. Oliver said lowly in the mind-link. Tilda seemed to be a little bit unpredictable. Her emotions weren't masked good and it was all over the place.
"She is," Tilda said without even trying to look like she cares about what Amanda might think of it.
"Will you reject her?" Amanda said.
"Why do you sound so hopeful, dear Amanda?" Tilda said. She made sure that every word sound as threatening as possible.
"I―I am not hoping my daughter will get rejected!" Amanda said as her eyes darted across the room and avoided Tilda and Oliver's gaze. "I am just asking for her safety… Alpha." She added the last word with a little hesitation.
Weird and probably a two-faced woman. Tilda said to Grey and Oliver/Blair.
Oliver looked at Tilda for her opinion on what he was about to do. When Tilda nodded, Oliver turned to leave the room.
"Where are you going?" Amanda said all of a sudden to Oliver.
Tilda turned to growl at her but Oliver was quicker. He raised his eyebrow. "Is that something that concerns a rough that we sheltered?"
"I was just curious." Amanda gave them a fake smile. They both knew it was fake and somehow Tilda could tell that Amanda wanted her smile to appear fake.
"Alpha Grey." Tilda turned one more time to look at Julian. "Will Annabelle be alright?" Tilda could tell that the kid was about to cry.
"She will be fine." Tilda gave the four distressed kids a half-smile.
"Alpha!" Judy, the pack's healer came out of the emergency room. "Great news Alpha!"
"Can I go in?" Amanda asked before the others could even process what Judy said.
"Shut up please," Tilda said calmly. "Judy please continue what you wanted to say."
"Annabelle Black, right?" She asked for conforming. Tilda nodded. "She was hurt pretty badly but we got Fred to heal her and the stitches are in good shape for now. I am afraid to say that for another hour or so she won't be able to accept visitors and my guess is she will wake up in at most one day. Everything is stable."
"Thank you for your hard work." Tilda nodded to the nurse. Judy's eyes shone with pride as her Alpha complimented her. "You can take a rest for as long as you want if you are not needed in the infirmary."
"Thank you, Alpha!" Judy grinned and bowed at the same time. "Is it okay if I take a two-week vacation and maybe a mate haunting?" She asked hopefully.
"I'll get Oliver to help you with it." Judy went red and nodded to the Alpha. "Do as you please with your vacation time."
"Thank you, Alpha," Judy said one more time and left the infirmary.
"Hey Judy, oh thank you!" Tilda heard Oliver's voice as he came into the infirmary. "Alpha! I heard the news. Congratulation on your mate's health!"
"Thank you, Oli―" Tilda got cut off by Amanda. Something that even Oliver wouldn't do, not in front of others, at least.
"And my daughter," Amanda added. "Annie is my daughter."
"Okay…?" Oliver said before Tilda could do something that she maybe would've regret soon when her mate would've woken up. "Can you please turn around for a moment?"
"Wha―" She didn't have the chance to say anything because soon, Oliver's claws went deep inside her neck but not enough to kill her.
"What did you use?" Tilda asked as she grabbed Amanda in an angle to make sure the kids who were talking with each other about their sister wouldn't see and freak out.
"I wanted to use wolfsbane and say it was a mistake," Oliver said. "Her death, I mean. She is annoying indeed." He added when Tilda looked at him with a confused expression.
"I wouldn't have minded but good you didn't." Tilda cracked a smile. "But what did you do?"
"A little bit of cream powder from Judy." Oliver grinned and carefully helped Tilda to lay Amanda somewhere the kids won't notice. "It's not even powerful! This woman just scared herself to passing out!"
"What you want to do?" Tilda asked since there were three possible things that Oliver would do in this kind of situation.
"Nothing much." Oliver shrugged. "Just letting the blood of her neck gets dry in my clause so I can check the specific past later."
"No matter how many times I hear about it or see you do this," Tilda looked at Amanda who had Oliver's claws in her throat and shivered a little. "It never gets less disturbing and disgusting."
"This is my talent." Oliver rolled his eyes. "Stop making it such an awful thing!"
"It is not awful." Tilda defended. "Just disturbing to see. And even more disgusting when I know how it works. Eww…"
"There are less than a hundred wolves with this talent and your lucky ass managed to get one as a Beta." Oliver glared playfully at Tilda. "Your reaction is 'eww'?"
"Yes," Tilda said.
"Whatever," Oliver mumbled and focused his attention on the task. "Why does this woman have so much blood? It should've dried by now!"
"That kinda happens when someone is a werewolf." Tilda deadpanned. "You used to do it on hunters, are you sure it is okay to perform it on werewolves?"
"No."
"Than―What?" Tilda looked at Oliver as if he was crazy. "As much as I came to hate this woman, we can't have her dead!"
"I was kidding!" Oliver grinned. "Where is your sense of humor Alpha?"
"You have a dark sense of humor." Tilda shook her head but deep down she was like: Can we have her dead? I can make an excuse.
"No, we can't," Oliver said and finally took his claws off of Amanda's throat.
"Open mind-link again?" Tilda groaned.
"As always." Oliver grinned. "Now get a healer to heal this woman and I'll go do what I have to do."
"Don't order me," Tilda growled but it wasn't as threatening as it was with Amanda. This time it was more like a friendly warning but a warning nonetheless.
"Okay sorry," Oliver said but his grin never faded. "Can I leave?"
"Go on."
"Besides, I guess your mate is awake." Oliver grinned when Tilda's eyes shone subconsciously at the mention of her mate.
"Go see your mate while I do the disgusting things." Oliver laughed and got up.
A healer soon came and took Amanda away. "Where did you come from?" Tilda said to the healer whose name was Quinn.
"Beta Blair mind-linked me," Quinn said and bowed to his Alpha.
"Do as you are told to do," Tilda said sternly to the healer. "And make sure the kids won't see you with their mother's throat open like a cave."
Quinn shivered at the thought and bowed again. "Okay Alpha." And then he left from the second door.
Go see our mate! Go see our mate! Grey urged Tilda to move forward.
The kids were sleeping in the chairs so for now it will be only her and her mate if Tilda walked into the room Annie was resting in.
She took steps toward the infirmary's room. Before opening the door, she took a deep breath and waited for a little while to calm her heart.
As soon as she opened the door, she was hit with the most amazing scent that she ever heard. The honey scent was fresh in the air and with every breeze, the scent filled her even more.
"Hello?" Annabelle's greeting came more like a question and it showed that she was just as nervous as Tilda was.
"Hello, Annabelle." Tilda found herself smiling at someone other than her Beta and Delta for the first time.
