Chapter 43 - Chapter 41

*** Kenzie POV

'Ah yes, the bright sun... in my eyes... first thing in the morning... how... wonderful.' I thought bitterly, turning away from the bright light glaring through the curtains, into the massive room. Listening to my alarm go off, announcing that I had to be at the airport within the next two hours.

Knowing George he already had our luge packed, and was just waiting for the two of us to wake up. Even though the airport was within a ten-minute drive, we still had to go through the process of checking out, luckily we were taking our private jet.

When I turned around, I saw Rhonda sleeping peacefully in my bed, rolled up like a burrito in one of my fuzzy blankets. We surprisingly had a sleepover, except we didn't do much, spending most of the time talking about business.

Soon we transitioned from discussing what would happen while we were in Paris, to her next potential project, which seemed interesting. She wanted to make invisible magic bracelets that knives pop out of, a defense mechanism, except with magic. She also talked about adding a possible gun if she can make it happen, however, she knew I was able to protect myself with any weapon.

However, she was stuck on the power source. Since it involved magic, it would of course have to come from somewhere, and she was unsure what to connect it with, so she was going to her coven to ask.

The compartment in the hairpin was nothing compared to this potential project. The hairpin was connected to both of us, using some of our energy since we both could use that hidden compartment. However, if we did the defensive bracelets with the hidden knives, it would depend wholly on the wearer's energy. 'Which can be dangerous.' Rhonda said, with a stern expression.

For example, if I'm on the verge of dying or blacking out, those knives won't help, because they would take my stamina quicker.

While I kept in mind the magic part of the project, I was just interested in the blades. The design of them seemed to be based on the dagger that my mother gifted me, and I was super excited, even when Rhonda told me that this was a serious matter.

"Rhonda wake up, we got to get going." I shook her awake, avoiding her wave, catching her wrist as it came close to my face. "Come on, you know how the airport is, I rather get going before the press figures out." I continued to shake her, and she groaned, before sitting up, rubbing her eyes.

"What time is it?" She asked, pulling the blanket to her chin, bobbing her head, as she was trying to stay awake.

Glancing over at the alarm clock I let out a sigh, adding fifteen minutes to the actual time so she would get moving. "7:30 am, we're going to start running late if we don't get moving soon," I answered her question and she let out a groan before oozing out of the bed to the bathroom, to get ready for the day.

Letting out a small chuckle, I went to my closet deciding to were a pair of loose jeans, with busted knees, a black hoodie that had a relatable quote about life, and a ball cap with a common brand name on it. Grabbing a pair of sunglasses, I was ready for the day, pairing the outfit with a pair of tennis shoes.

Grabbing my emerald hairpin from the table, I stuck it in my backpack that I was bringing on the jet, with my laptop and other paperwork that I was going to do along the way, my passport and wallet were already in it since I packed everything early last night before Rhonda grabbed my attention with the potential defense weapon.

"Kenzie!" I heard Rhonda scream from the bathroom, and I knew she caught on about the time. "I could have slept ten more minutes and we would've been fine!" She called from the bathroom, and I nodded, before letting out a sigh.

"Nah, I'm just giving you more time to prepare yourself, as you take about thirty minutes to get ready," I replied and I heard her let out a frustrated growl before opening the door, rather harshly that I thought the door would have fallen.

"Today is a sweats day, a hoodie, joggers, tennis shoes, cap, and maybe mascara and lip gloss." She looked down at her stylish outfit, and I nodded. "I could have done this in under ten minutes." She whined and I nodded my head.

"You can catch up on sleep when we get on the plan." I reached to pat her shoulder and she just frowned before picking up her backpack and walking out of my room, leaving me slightly amused.

The plane ride was calm. Rhonda immediately went to the bedroom, catching up on the sleep that she missed, while George was in one of the leather chairs shifting between reading a book and working on the paperwork that I handed over to him.

He was going as an ambassador and would help me through negotiations that would happen, while Rhonda would be taking a break, going to her coven. I kept in touch with Jacob as he was nervous that this would be the one time that he wasn't able to drop everything and follow, so the only way to comfort him was to talk to him every two to three hours.

When the pilot announced that we would be arriving at our destination, I prepared myself for the descending motion. When we arrived at the airport, Rhonda was dressed in a different outfit, instead of joggers she wore skinny jeans, and she had a bit more makeup on, however, that was all the difference.

George, stepped out of the plan first, grabbing our bags, leading us through the airport, until our path was blocked.

Specifically, a bulky man in his mid-thirties stood in front of me, taking my suitcase handle from my hands. Stepping back to look at this man into his eyes, I noticed that he had a black rose emblem on his jacket, and quickly realized that it was the Romeo clan standing in front of me.

"Miss Mackenzie Young, follow us without making a scene if you know what's best you for." He ordered and I scoffed lightly under my breath before nodding my head. The way that he worded it, it didn't sound like I was being escorted rather it sounded like I was being kidnapped, in a polite way.

Glancing at the other four guards circling us, to prevent Rhonda from slipping away to go her way, I was slightly irritated but I couldn't necessarily do anything just yet, hopefully, I would get the chance to let Rhonda go to her coven to get her answers.

"Lead the way." I offered, with a small smile, letting the bulky man take my suitcase while guiding me out to the two black SUVs parked, where we were split between the cars, Rhonda and Geroge were put together in the second car, while I was in the first one with the bulky man, who seemed to be the captain of the swad, and three other boys that had their eye on me, expecting a fight from me.

I continued to surprise them, by just sitting in the middle, with my hand resting in my lap, watching the scenery pass by, not even bothered that my bodyguard was in a different car or the fact that my phone was in the backpack that the guard in the passenger seat was holding.

About an hour later, we arrived at an estate, passing through the beautiful gate, the other SUV out of sight, we pulled around the roundabout, which had three people standing outside, with their arms behind their back, standing up straight.

When the car came to a stop, suddenly, the guard on my right yanked me out of the car, holding my arms behind my back, with a strong grip. Glaring at him over my shoulder, he looked straight at the old man who stepped forward, looming over me.

"So you're Mackenzie Young?" He asked, grabbing my chin, forcing me to look straight into his green eyes that look displeased. "You said you had business, I don't mind doing business with you since you're the only one from your family that knows how to handle the underworld business, however, for us to have that business you need to understand that your friends are held under hostage." He said and I kept my cool.

"Can I make a request?" I asked shaking off the guard's grip, feeling my wolf come out, but I suppressed her enough that it wasn't noticeable, gently taking his hand from my chin, I looked at the other guards who had their hands resting on the guns, ready to open fire. The old man nodded his head. "At least allow the young lady go, if you're worried that she's going to tell somebody, she won't. As for George, he's an ambassador of Alex, also my bodyguard." I let him know and he let out a sigh.

"The young lady is free to do as she is pleased, however, the young man named George will be our hostage until the deal is finished." He announced and I nodded agreeing.
