*** Six months pass, currently mid-January.
During six months, Jacob and I have grown closer, to say the least at this point I might as well move into his house, Rhonda can say so also. She's grown slightly annoyed to have to drive from Birmingham to London to meet up with me, to talk about the progress of her new weapon that she's working on.
I got my driver's license within a couple of months, and my father gifted me a fancy sports car for Christmas -a shocker but I accepted it gladly. I've noticed that somehow every time I get behind the wheel, I find myself on the highway going to London, where I can cuddle in the arms of my boyfriend.
These past months have been exhausting, for everyone in general. Jacob's new product line came about, just in time for the new year, so his company has been flourishing -receiving lots of reviews on his products. Ahead of us in the game sadly. Not that I have a problem, I would rather my work be noticed as mine than my father's.
Because Alex's plans were still suspicious despite me agreeing that we could continue forward with this new product line, the councilmen wanted him to admit that he didn't fully come up with the plan, and he wanted him to reveal who was the main idea of this plan.
Gotta say it's nice to finally be accepted by the chairmen, even though it's causing a rift between Alex and me, once again, I didn't have a problem, as long as it didn't affect Eli in the long run.
Eli has been busy picking up other skills, working on understanding the business that he'll have the potential to inherit and I wanted to make sure when the time comes that he'll be okay. Even the chairmen are glad that there are plans for the company, and although they want to see more from me, I've been off to the side acting as a guide for Eli.
Besides being busy training Eli for the position, I've also been dealing with Mafia affairs behind my father's back. Lately, there has been a lot of clan wars, and twice we've been caught in the crossfire. Not because of a decision of mine, rather it was the opposing group that wanted to start things.
However, during those both of the crossfires, I've lost three people to fatal wounds and had to attend six funerals with George and Rocket. Some people would welcome my presence and then there were a few that would run up to me and scream at me.
It took a lot of effort to keep my wolf calm, even George was defensive. I avoided talking about the crossfires with Jacob, even though the probability of him knowing would be high, mostly because I find it hard to talk about what happened those nights.
It wasn't easy to think that someone would lose their lives protecting me or their other friends, and I would make sure their death wasn't in vain.
Lately, I've noticed that I've been living a calm peaceful life, without another being scoping me out. I haven't heard anything about that pureblood Vampire lately, and I was growing suspicious. Even Jacob noticed and commented about it, but all I could say was that it seemed the heavens heard my prayer, giving me time to adjust.
"Kenzie. Kenzie!" Eli waved his hand in front of my face, pulling me back to the present. Eli recently bleached his hair, going from a brunette to a blond, deciding to try something new, and while I supported him, it also made the headlines and multiple people had crying emojis on the news.
It seemed that everybody loved his fluffy brunette hair, it suited him, but everyone does need to have a change in their life. It's toned down slightly, since the beginning but it still takes me some time to adjust.
"Yes?" I asked, looked at the folder in my hand, it had the recent statistics of our business, and based on it, we truly needed to come out with another product line soon, or Jacob's company would take all of our loyal customers.
"Are you coming to the council meeting?" He asked, brushing his hair back. I thought about it for a second, before shaking my head. "You're not?" He asked in an upset tone and I let out a small chuckle, slightly amused.
"It's another meeting of convincing Alex to admit that he took someone else's plans. It's not worth it. Besides I have to prepare for a trip to the U.S." I rose from my seat, tossing the folder on the coffee table, glancing out the window to catch the last rays of sunset.
"You're going to the U.S.!!" He jumped up and I nodded, remembering the upcoming mission. "Wha... I want to go see the United States so bad, too bad I have to worry about college classes and convincing Father that he needs to fess up." He grumbled and I nodded.
"Sorry, usually I would say that you could come, but someone's got to stay here." I walked over to pat his shoulder, and he pouted for a second before pulling me into a hug.
"Whatever business you have over there, I hope that you stay safe." He whispered and I nodded, leaning into the hug, it wasn't often that I got one. Once we broke the hug, we went out separate ways, I went up to my bedroom with another folder in my hand.
Alex handed me this mission knowing that it will overlap the meeting with the council members, but when I noticed that I would have to go to the U.S. I remembered suddenly who takes care of that territory. No matter how much I wanted to avoid Julian, it seemed almost impossible.
And that's probably why Alex was sending me there, to settle some business but also to be annoyed with this one person in my life, despite he was a vampire.
"When will he learn," I muttered under my breath, before walking over to my closet pulling out my suitcase. Packing a couple of cute outfits when I decide to tour around, and then packed all of the dark outfits that I would wear during the nights when I would possibly meet up with Julian's group.
Once I was done packing, I decided to call it a night.

"You're going to the United States tomorrow?!" Rhonda burst through the bedroom door, and I panicked, quickly sitting up in my bed, rubbing my tired eyes.
When the young lady stood at the foot of my bed, with her glaring green eyes, I gulped quietly before managing a small innocent smile.
Letting out a small nervous chuckle, I nodded. "Yeah. I have some business to take care of, it was Alex's idea." I vaguely explained and she walked around the bed, before sitting on the edge holding my gaze.
"Kenzie, does Jacob know about this?" She asked and I let out a small sigh.
"Rhonda, have you noticed that I've been living a too peaceful life?" I asked and she narrowed her eyes, "I'm testing a theory of mine when I go to the U.S. which means that Jacob can't know." I tried to convenience her and she scoffed.
"You think that you can hide anything from the giant wolf?" She asked rhetorically and I almost giggled as she referred to him. "Kenzie, do you think that you should risk testing out a theory in a foreign country?" She asked, and I went silent, seeing where she is coming from.
"The past couple of missions have been close, I admit, but something is watching over me. I just think it's time for it to show its face." I smiled, and she took in a deep breath not convinced.
"You do realize that if you are harmed in any way, that giant wolf will go on a rampage." She pointed out and I nodded, knowing that she wasn't wrong.
"Sometimes we have to do some dangerous things." I shrugged and she shook her head before glancing at the folder on the other side of the bed. "Rhonda, how is your project going?" I asked, and she tilted her head to the side, letting out a disabling sigh.
"The basic build is finished, now all I got to do is add spells and connect it to its owner, but now I can't do that because it will be energy draining. And from what I've heard about the current leader of the U.S. mafia, you're going to need all of your strength." She got off the bed, reaching to pat the top of her head.
"I'll stop by your house when I return." I smiled and she scoffed once again under her breath, before nodding.
"I suppose we can do that. But until then I hope that you can protect yourself, the last thing I need to deal with is an emotional wolf." She complained and I nodded, feeling somewhat sympathetic to her cause.
And just like I suspected, a guardian was watching over me, but it wasn't until a certain point that he showed up.
