Chereads / The Alpha Heirs / Chapter 37 - Chapter 35

Chapter 37 - Chapter 35

"You've returned before talking to me." Alex sat in his leather chair behind his large mahogany desk, which had a laptop to the side, a fancy bright lamp above it, and a basket to organize his papers. But while he sat there in his seat, I could feel his anger wafting off in waves, as he wasn't pleased about my arrival, and all I could do was to smirk.

He sat in his chair, with his arms crossed, a frown deeply etched on his face, and his green eyes on me, as he was irritated that I didn't follow his orders, even when he sent someone to try to convince me.

Rhonda took the secretary out of the room, as she was ready to take me out within seconds of us entering. She reached for my shoulder, a way that she had often led me out of the room, practically dragging me out of the room, but this time I caught her hand, frowning as she dared to put her hand on me, as Rhonda quickly lead her out the room.

Now I was sitting in a leather chair in front of his desk, with my hands resting on the arms of the chair, while glancing out the window, to get a sense of ease.

"Do I need to express why I've returned?" I asked replying to his statement, while crossing my arms and leaning back in my chair, glaring at the old man who took a deep breath, like he was fighting himself from shouting in frustration. And seeing him in this state, somewhat made me pleased.

"You even brought Rhonda back after she left a week ago. Did she even get a chance to rest?" He asked, and I lightly scoffed under my breath, setting down a packet of papers, deciding to change the subject.

In the packet, there was about future deals for the mafia world, and potential ideas for the business like a potential new investor that I took the time to look up and gather information about. However, knowing my father's pride, he probably will ignore that page.

"Rhonda was fine leaving the house, just as I was. Besides, I have a business that needs me here, and I'm tired of being told that 'I'll be safer if I stay hidden'. We all know It won't make a difference where I am, since it seems that the messenger is from somebody that one was close to the family." I indicated to the packet of papers on the desk and he took a deep breath.

"There are only a few people that would be a threat to me, as soon as I entered into the business world, so I think this is from the Mafia world, and it's someone that once stumbled across the family secret." I continued and he looked down at the packet of papers in front of him, with a dark expression, as he heard 'mafia.'

Like always, when the mafia was mentioned from my mouth, I'm sure half of what I'm saying isn't even sticking in his head. So while I prepared a detailed report, I only put things that would interest him, while leaving out the major parts that I would be playing, as I getting him more status and money, that will soon be flipped to my side.

"You think someone would be brave enough to send a threat to you, and enter into the top business of the country. Either business or mafia world, nobody would go that far, because we're at the top." He picked up the packet, trying to express his opinion and I scoffed again, seeing how he was so bent on believing that he was the best.

'Despite the recent event, proved that there are apparently people that dared to step into the business and mafia world to try to take his position. It's is known by plenty that he's getting weak, whether he wants to admit it or not.'

"Your image is crumbling in both worlds. King is slowly gaining on us, and you want to spend time trying to look into this while looking like a fool. We slowly turned weak, and that incident only proved it. Now that someone has penetrated our company to send a message, we don't know what's coming for us. Let's drop this, or go private about it, by releasing a statement that although this was an interesting incident, and one person was harmed, we are doing fine." I offered and he flipped through the pages before grunting.

"You're telling me to say that although this questionable event happened, especially to the hidden daughter of the Young Inc., that everything is fine?" He asked in a tone of disbelief, and I nodded. "Nobody is going to believe it." He said and I let out a sigh.

"Then let me speak at the conference. If it's coming from the victim, both I and the lady who was harmed, then we can let this pass, and focus on other things. You need to figure out who is going to take your place, and work to get an official heir because someone will also come after you." I tried to instill fear into this man, and he once again scoffed under his breath.

"You think someone would be stupid enough to go against me?" He asked and after a couple of seconds, he saw me raise a brow. "You wouldn't because I bringing you into this world." He tried to convince himself, and I smiled gently.

'I'm barely even letting you sit on this throne. For the time being, I working to not only adjust to my wolf but figure out more about the prophecy. And in the midst of that, I can only trust that my bother can work to be a temporary heir, for the business, while I work on the Mafia'

"For now, you can try to once again convince my brothers for the position and if they don't take it, then I guess I'll be an option as well since it's well known that my brothers show no interest. Even Eli, who is working within the company, is only here to help out with the situation. For now, I'll focus on the Mafia, and widdle out who are our foes and friends." I smiled for a second seeing my father's green eyes widen in shock as he saw that I was serious about my point.

"You're going to take it from under me?!" He asked in disbelief and I smirked. Meeting his green eyes with my serious blueish-green ones, I held the gaze for a couple of minutes waiting for Rhonda's footsteps to enter the room, and when she did, she let out a sigh.

"Alex, don't be shocked that there are some people that are after your position, it's the life that you decided to want." She took a seat beside me, crossing her legs, meeting my gaze for a second before focusing on the old man. "However, Kenzie has other things on her mind, for now, she'll settle things in the dark world, while you try to keep the business standing." She continued and the old man just scoffed under his breath. But I could immediately tell how he considered the words coming out of her mouth.

"Either way, you won't get it, it's a long process to become the person of the top company. And once again I'll repeat myself, I'll make sure it goes to a male." He shook off his disbelief, repeating the sentence that I've heard thousands of times, as he made sure it wouldn't enter my hands.

"Back to business, I'll be getting more involved with the Mafia while you're busy with the company, and I would suggest that you get some more investors into your company." I smiled indicating back to the packet. "I'm going to meet with a close mafia leader in a week, and plan to stay in Paris for a couple of days. Whatever I can help with before I leave, needs to happen in the next couple of days." I rose from my chair, tipping my head as I was dismissing myself from his presence despite starting a fight.

"Other than attending your classes, I don't expect much from you." He shouted as I exited the office, with Rhonda following after me.

"Eli." I stepped into his room, and when I did, he walked out of his room shirtless, while drying his hair. Ignoring his six-pack, he looked shocked to see me enter his room, and as the realization hit, he quickly pulled on a shirt. "We need to talk about business." I smiled.

"Business? Are you meaning figuratively or realistically?" He asked, and I chuckled lightly, before taking a seat in the center of his room, where it dipped down as this was his gaming station, which was already turned on, ready to be used.

"How confident are you to be able to take a position by our father?" I asked, sitting forward, with my hands resting on my knees, watching him look down at his hands.

"Why are you asking this?" He let out a sigh, before answering my question with a question.

"Matt is unable to take the position because of how in-depth he is in the entertainment field. Josh has shown no interest in the business, while you have some experience. I'm only asking you to hold the position temporarily, and I don't mind pitching in some work." I looked at him, forcing him to meet my eyes.

"And if I take this position, do you know how much work it is?" He asked, leaning forward in his seat and I nodded.

"Someone that can listen to others needs to sit on that seat, if you can get father's trust, and help improve the business with some of our guidance, then I will feel reassured that it won't fall while I'm away." I let out a sigh, placing down a second copy of the packet I gave Alex and Eli scrunched his brows.

"You're picking up the dark world?" He asked, seeing how everything that I was planning to do was indeed in the mafia world. "This is time-consuming as it is, not to mention dangerous. Yet you're still looking out for the business?" He asked in disbelief, and I nodded my head.

"I'm not going to force you, since you distaste our father, but I need someone I can trust and has some fundamentals about how the business world goes." I smiled, watching him think.
