Chapter 13 - Chapter Twelve: Fire (1)

Cooking was a lot harder than it looked. Charlotte knew of that fact but still attempted to cook something for Elliot. It was his first day on set and she wanted to send him a lunch made with love but also be healthy at the same time. After careful selecting she realised Mediterranean food was the most beneficial and easy to make.

But even then it was a challenge.

Finally on Charlotte's third attempt, she was able to put together an edible lunch. It consisted of Horiatiki salad¹⁰, Spanakorizo¹¹ and some sides such as hummus¹², Dolmades¹³ and Saganaki Shrimp¹⁴. It was a lot of food but with the help of Charlotte's housekeeper she was able to pull this together.

Charlotte left the kitchen to go and change her clothes while doing so her housekeeper packed everything up for her. She chose to wear a dark green, shirt dress that went past her knees with a pair of nude sandals. Charlotte grabbed her black, mini backpack and filled with her necessities before grabbing a black, balenciaga cap. On her way she took the lunch box and got into her car to drive to set.

–—

As soon as Charlotte entered the filming area, she saw Elliot in the middle of a scene. Currently, she was unable to take the position of the director because of her injury but she would be taking back the position starting from tomorrow. A charming smile appeared on Charlotte's face as she watched Elliot act. It was a scene from the very beginning of the film showing the real family bond Zack and his family shared.

— Scene 5: Family Dinner —

Zacks expressions were solemn with a tinge of loneliness masking his eyes. There was an awkward silence in the air and only the clattering of cutlery against plates. Zack skillful used the knife and fork and ate cleanly. Nobody talked on the table, they were all mum until Zacks mother broke the silence.

"Zack, your father and I want to talk to you about your behaviour and potentially remove you from St Mary's since it will soon be unsuitable for you to remain there." Ruby spoke without any motherly affection. Her tone of voice was like how a boss would talk to an employee.

"Why? What did I do this time?"

Lawrence, put down the glass of wine in his hand and looked at his son. "Do I have to remind you of the plenty of shenanigans you've played?" He raised an eyebrow trying to challenge Zack to rebel against his authority.

Zack looked down and moved his hands down from the table to his lap, tightly clenching them together until the veins on his hands popped.

"No father." Zack released his hands and breathed out a reply. "But i'd still like to attend St Mary's. I have my friends there and plus it would not do me any good if I move so suddenly in the middle of the year. The new term is about to begin and I promise I will behave."

Silence seemed to grip the air once again. After a while Lawrence finally hummed in agreement. "Do whatever you seem fit but I'm warning you Zack you better stay out of trouble lest you taint our reputation further."

As soon Lawrence finished speaking the substitute director shouted, "Cut. Well done everyone, you can go and take a break."

Everyone dispersed and most people gathered things to head out for lunch. Elliots assistant Leah rushed to him and handed him a fresh towel along with a bottle of water. The two were about to go into the dressing room when from the corner of Elliot's eye he noticed Charlotte leaning against the wall smiling at him proudly.

"Leah, can you get me my bag from the car, I seem to have forgotten about it." Elliot made up an excuse. Leah nodded and didn't question him and just walked away in the direction she needed to go.

Seeing none else there, Charlotte moved forward and handed Elliot the bag in her hand. "I cooked some food for you. They don't taste amazing but they don't taste so bad either." Charlotte meekly smiled. " I also put in a bottle of water so make sure to drink plenty while eating."

Elliot stared at the bag in a daze and a foolish smile soon graced his lips. He pulled Charlotte in his dressing room and closed the door before he brought her into a hug, inhaling her sweet fragrance.

"Well done for working hard to make me this," he whispered in her ear. They no longer needed to say 'thank you' or 'sorry' since their relationship had progressed to the stage they both can understand each other without saying anything.

Charlotte broke out of the embrace first. "C'mon eat first, you don't have a long," she urged. Elliot nodded and then took a seat on the couch in the sitting area. He opened of the bags and brought every container out and as soon as he opened the lids the delicious smell spread across the room.

Charlotte watched as Elliot savoured her food and praised her endlessly. The food wasn't that great–average at best but hearing Elliot complimenting her felt nice. After a while, Elliot would lift his spoon and give Charlotte a bite then he would take one. For the rest of the time, they continued doing that until they finished off most of the food.

After Charlotte packed up all the dirty containers and was about to bid goodbye, an alarm suddenly rang, echoing everywhere.
