We made our way reluctantly to Dotonbori, the street of blinding lights and towering neon displays. Water, which reflected such colors as if the light itself was poured into the canal. Torabe was accustomed to it, and I would be as well if it hadn't been so long since seeing the city. The smells, the blisteringly loud music, the way the air flows consistently in the city streets. Osaka was a place unlike any other.
I had such an eagerness to get into some izakaya or other restaurant that I'm sure Torabe found me even more annoying than before. He gave his same old disappointing sigh whenever I made some sort of useless statement on some road sign or other display.
Perhaps I should lay off on him for a little.
"You're never gonna make a choice at this rate, Karusu."
"Well…what do you suggest, Torabe?"
I don't quite know if it was the way I looked at him, or perhaps something I had said which I had not realized, but his expression and quick pace aside to distance from me was curious.
I kinda wanted to question him on it but chose to let it go.
