Chapter 29 - The Underground

⚠️(Viewer discretion advised, some things present in chapter may be triggering) ⚠️

When people hear the name 'the underground' in a sentence it usually meant you were up to no good. Which in 98% of occasions was pretty much that. Illegal drugs, meat, weapons, data, slave trafficking, gangsters. But the one thing it was the most famous for was the 'Night Cage', a ruthless battle of 2v2 or 1v1 nothing more unless it's a special occasion or just plain slaughter.

But this was also a good place to start for Sion to find someone to teach him how to defend himself. Yes he'd killed before in blind rage but doing that all the time wasn't ideal, he needed to be able to defend himself while he was still in control.

As he walked the very busy streets of the underground with a new black fur hood jumper, black mask and shades. His clothes casual yet meaning business as people went past him, he thought about what happened this morning when he woke up.

>> Congratulations Host for completing 20 daily tasks <<

'Huh?' Was he still asleep?

>> Congratulations on levelling up also Host <<

'What?' It was too early for him to think right now as the voice bombarded him with his status and congratulations of his achievements.

>> Host status

- Name: Sion Reed (fake name: Sho Night)

- lvl: 1 >> lvl 2

- Age: 17

- Species: Young Lycan (child)

- Title - "King of Dominance"

- Job/N/A/

- Skills - Death, (cause panic and confusion to enemies for 30secs >> 40 secs) Life, (Heal only the body 1 >> 2 times a day) Vanish, (Able to be undetected for 30secs >> 40 secs) nullification (pain decreased by 30% >> 35%) <<

He hadn't even done anything? But wait, how'd the status change? Last time he'd asked the voice 'how to level up' it had replied with 'error' as if it didn't understand him. But that was also then, the voice had seemed to develop alongside him as he came to conclude awhile back. Does that mean the voice would now understand considering it was congratulating him on a successful level up?

"Can you now understand how to level up?"

>> Host you can level up by doing daily tasks and by fighting <<

'Fighting?' What exactly did it mean by fighting? A person? A monster? A brief flicker of the huge beast from his dream infiltrated his mind as he shook it off. Was the voice implying he should pursue becoming a hunter like his old man? (You are still classified as a hunter no matter the position you take inside a fracture, so even though his father was a porter he's still seen as a hunter risking his life)

'But how would the voice even know of that?' That didn't make any sense?

>> Host, because you are now level 2, extra features have just been added to your status <<

>> Host status

Assuming the voice meant to the new features that had just shown up Sion left it. The voice was really growing with him, as he grew into himself so did the voice as if they were interlocked with each other? He grew, the voice did too and ultimately so did the status board and so on. 'Was there more to this all?'

***

He'd thought about it a lot since the this morning, things added up but also didn't. Because his theory clashed with those large piercing blue eyes of that beast and it's cold voice. If the normal voice was interlocked and growing with him, than was that other voice a threat to them both or something else entirely?

But even that didn't make sense with what the beast had said to him when present as if it had been waiting some time to meet with him?

"Good sir! I have the finest riffles and knives in the west end of the market! Take a look at my stock you won't regret!"

"Venison fresh and still bloody! Also a wide ranged of just killed stock!" 'Disgusting' yes this place had it benefits but that was the last thing Sion wanted to hear. That meat wasn't just from normal farmed animals- they were once people. Part of the sicker and twisted side of having 'Second genders', people would rather eat people who died as their counterpart rather than perfectly fine farmed meat of normal animals.

It was barbaric, inhuman but still happened within plain sight. Some people took it to such extremes and gave their 'Second gender' more authority rather than being one, they rather become corrupt for the flesh of a child. Not too much different from a rapist or serial killer.

Turning away from the sight not to gag and vomit Sion sped up his walking. This place didn't get it's title for nothing.

"Drugs get your drugs! I have xphine, Aloxin, Multor and much more!" Xphine was a drug that enhanced your psychical body as well as boost the instincts of a person's 'Second gender'. Aloxin was a drug that made you hallucinate and become unstable, commonly known as the party drug. Since people weren't as weak anymore since the light purge, it was technically made in place of other known drugs of the past like weed. Multor wasn't a drug you played around with, made for higher tolerance 'Second gender' natures to numb and calm. Yet people took advantage of it and used it to- let's just say they never woke up.

There had been so much drama about these drugs in tabloids and in online media talks. Police enforcement ended up banning most if not all from local stores and only having these used in hospitals if needed.

But Sion couldn't be persuaded out of this. He had power but he needed the ability, this was a perfect place to start regardless of reputation. He needed someone who had real fight experience and he wasn't going to find that in town nor would they accept someone with the record of a human to file. He could also kiss his job and life goodbye if anyone found out, especially since he was still a minor. It needed to be off the books; pulling his hood off his head he stopped at a sign that said 'Brawlers'.

'This is it' he thought as he walked forward to the door.
