Chapter 33 - Time off

>> Host do you wish to play video again? <<

"Yeah"

Herald had messaged Sion after class to get to the underground if he wasn't worst for wear,

= Oi, if you are not too banged up from the other day, I recommend you come later to the bar around 11pm, I have something to show ya =

= No, I'm well rested - (correction: he cheated by using one of his daily heals), I'll be there =

= Good to hear =

Sitting down he grabbed his water bottle and finished it in practically 3 gulps. Was it just him or had he grown again? Maybe he needed to stop his growth spurt now? His thought made 02 snicker as Sion stared blankly at some people passing by with food. The smell made him restless as he got up from the bus stop seat. School had only just finished now and he was already hungry again, he hadn't eaten much this morning but still. If anyone saw him eat all that he did in his apartment, they'd think he'd gone feral.

Feral, not commonly used, meaning someone who has lost control of themselves and given in to their instincts. Sometimes heard in police reports of self defence but in more cases it's Cannibalism and drugs that lead to them breaking the 3 main rules:

First, to remain in your nation unless told otherwise by authorities.

Second, you must maintain human appearance as best as possible, slight psychical change such as horns, gills, feathers, teeth/fangs, tails or hard to change hand or feet appearance was excepted with medical claim.

Finally, Killing another civilian was a violation to everything. If you had blood on your hands, death was a clear path unless justified by the law. This being, self defence or animal instinct gone out of control with clear proof.

Everyone knew these rules, but some just didn't care for them. Like the Underground and Markets as well as the drugs that polluted the streets.

Walking into a nice diner restaurant in his new school uniform the receptionist looked at Sion with a funny look as he approached her. 'Why is a kid in a place like this?' She wondered, that is till he got closer and she really saw how big and tall Sion really was 'What high schoolers looked like this?' Her mouth clearly open to the floor as Sion had now gotten used to this look as a good sign thanks to Franes.

"Can I just get a single booth" Sion said as the receptionist lady finally picked her jaw off the ground and typed away at the computer system.

"Do you have ID?" She enquired as Sion tensed, 'shit, I don't have ID' looking at the woman almost morbidly letting out quite the aura the lady put her hands up in defence. "It's ok if you don't, you just can't order drinks" she hurriedly spoke. As if the world's problems vanished, the aura that had just been suffocating her seemed to disperse like so.

'This kid' warily she gave him a table number as he walked away, she couldn't place what it was she felt. But even more weirdly was that he went to the same school as her niece and had not seen him around when dropping her off sometimes. Even his badge that was supposed to give a little insight on a child's capacity was odd. Instead of saying, First name, last name, homeroom class, 'second gender' (if you had one) and attribute (again, if you had one). His only said his first and last name as well as homeroom class, that was it. 'But with an aura like that maybe the school had their reasons?'

Sitting down Sion's phone buzzed and there 'Boss' also know as Franes was calling him again.

>> Just answer it << 02 spoke in annoyance as Sion pressed accept and brought the phone to his ear only to wish he hadn't.

"Where are you!? It's been nearly 3 days and I've heard nothing except a message from you! Why didn't you tell me my Father's hired hunter bodyguard found you!?"

'So that's who that was, no wonder they were so persistent' Sion thought as he opened his mouth to the first words he'd been meaning to say for awhile.

"I'm sorry Franes"

Silence was heard for a moment as Franes's heavy breathing could be heard.

"You really think sorry is going to be enough Sion? I thought you were dead! I thought my Father's hired hunter had slaughtered you and disposed of the body!" He voice nearly coming out as a shriek over the phone this time. She knew Sion was strong but the difference between them with experience was too wide.

'I would have been if it wasn't for my skill timing to have just finished cool down' Sion thought morbidly.

"Listen Franes, I won't be able to come to work for awhile" He decided he'd tell her part of his plan.

"What why?!"

"I want to apply for the Contest Showdown" Sion stated as someone placed down his first meal out of the 10 he'd ask for. This one being the chicken pasta with garlic bread, some soup accompanied with chips, paired together with a large lemon lime bitters drink.

"Why would you do that event?" She was confused to hear this, Sion for as long as she'd known him was fierce in battle. She'd actually thought he was a hunter at first until he'd asked her for a job all of a sudden that exact day he saved her.

'Surely a guy like him would have been offered many contacts already?' So why was it he was jumping through hurdles to get closer to what she assumed was to become a hunter? After all, those who participated in the contest Showdown were those looking to show off their skills and receive chances to be chosen into one of the 6 guilds. If her was telling her this now, knowing how crafty he was regardless of his awkward moments as if he was unsure of himself a points. He needed something and that something was time off.

"So you want time off to prepare for the event?" She concluded, even though Franes was mad at him, the fact he was alive mad her somewhat calm down. She was good working under stress after all, she could deal with this much at least. "How long?"

"A month" sighing could be heard over the phone as Sion waited for her answer.

"Alright, but don't think you'll be able to chill too much afterwards. You're going to need to work hard once you get back" that much he knew already.

"Thank you Franes" he spoke.

"Yeah yeah, just don't die" was the final thing she said as she was the one to hang up. The Contest Showdown was a great event held nationally however people did get seriously hurt, some even killed. She hoped that whatever Sion had planned, he'd planned it well.

Sion looked down at his phone, 'She hung up'

>> She's still mad at you <<

Like he didn't know that as he dug into his meal.
