The stablemaster remembered Senani all too well. In fact, he had hoped to never see him again as he still had not managed to find his bull. Upon seeing the stablemaster, Senani spoke, "I still do not see Kaz my bull in the stables here. What have you done with him?"
The stable master responded honestly, "I have no idea what happened to him, from all of my investigations he seems to have vanished without a trace. How can I reimburse you for the loss of your bull?"
Senani thought for a moment then he responded, "I want a horse when I leave in a week and a meeting with the leader of this town. Who resides in the castle in Solamnia now?"
The stable master responded, "The mayor lives in the castle. I will take you straight to the mayor now and I will provide you with a horse before you leave."
Senani and the stablemaster then proceeded to the castle to meet the mayor. Once the stablemaster had introduced Senani he dismissed himself. Senani and the mayor were now alone in the castle. This was exactly what Senani desired. Senani spoke to the mayor, "I know why the bodies are coming out of the graves in your graveyard. We both know it is not graverobbers. The dead are coming alive. I can put a stop to it. But it will cost you."
The mayor responded, "How exactly do you intend to put a stop to it? The Great Lich King will end up putting a stop to you if you try."
Once the mayor uttered those words, Senani pulled out his hunting knife and stabbed him in the heart. He then touched his arm and received the notification, "Do you wish to activate a Death Bed Covenant with the man who is mayor of Solamnia?" Yes or No.
Senani chose Yes. Surprisingly, the mayor accepted. Senani had originally planned to take the castle as his reward to getting rid of the undead, however now that the Great Lich King was involved, he would need to move the mayor to his land grant and hide him. It would not be safe to remain in town. So Senani touched the castle and received the unexpected prompt to move the entire town and surrounding lands into the land grant. Senani accepted. He would explain to the people in the town after they had arrived in the land grant.
Senani then closed his eyes and teleported back to his land grant. He had just moved the entire town, so Fred and the Mayor would already be there. He telepathically informed Fred, Kaz, Maximus and the Mayor they would need to meet him in the Castle. Once everyone had arrived, Senani explained his plan. The mayor would explain the situation to the townspeople and explain that Senani would be taking up residence in the castle. Fred would have the undead farm the land that was not currently in use and move all Senani's things to the castle. The weapons Senani had acquired could be placed in the actual armory. All guards would register with Kaz in his mercenary group. All individuals that wished to join the guard would do the same. All undead that were previously trained with a weapon would join the mercenary group as well. Maximus and his guards were asked to utilize the training grounds in the castle to train the mercenary group as well as Senani and Kaz. Senani also requested that they personally guard the castle. The wolf pack was also placed near the castle in the grounds where the hounds previously were. The hounds that remained were integrated into the pack under the control of Bear.
The mayor called a meeting of all the members of the town to explain the situation. Most of the townspeople were indifferent. A new king meant little to them if nothing were said about taxes, after all only the king could claim taxes. The guards were unsure, they had never heard of Kaz after all, but they did as they were told. With Senani announced as the new king, to do otherwise would be considered treason.
Senani then began to discuss what was needed to instate a guild with Rikki-Tiki. As he did things via Covenants, his guild would be a bit different than most. Rikki-Tiki informed Senani that the town already had a guild hall. All he had to do was register his guild at the guild hall. Once that was done, his guild and his power base would be known throughout the land. The fact that no one would be able to find his powerbase was irrelevant at this point. Senani chose to name his guild, House Sloth. Once it was created, he received another secret skill. Guild Covenant: By accepting membership into the guild, all members will be bound to the guild master. They may not act against him upon penalty of death. However, those merely bound by the Guild Covenant will not be required to do everything the Guild Master commands. They will have far more freedom than those with the Death Bed Covenant.
Senani immediately had all his men and animals join the guild. He debated whether Maximus and his guards should join. In the end he decided to allow them to as after all, in his land grant the Lich King could not find them. Having that many tier 2 members would make his guild a force to be reckoned with and would give them far more ability to recruit. After this was done, Senani realized he still had not questioned the mayor or the ex-necromancer. So much had happened so quickly that he did not know how much they knew about the Lich King.
Senani called for Fred to force them to speak honestly and fully. After an hour of conversing with them, Senani realized they truly knew little of the Lich King. Senani then went to Maximus to gather more information. While he moved to where Maximus resided, Rikki-Tiki had a reminder for him. "You now have a great many beings bound to you through your Covenant System. You have yet to absorb and utilize any of their skills. Maximus has a great many secret skills that would benefit you. I would advise his library passive. It may not sound like much. But if you utilize it, you can have all the beings that have a covenant with you transmit the data for their skills to your mind and store them in the library. You can then spend the time to learn them one by one." Senani thought that would be a great idea and did so immediately. As a farmer his skillset was greatly lacking.
When Senani arrived at Maximus he asked him if he could provide more information on the Great Lich King. After all, how could you fight a being you knew next to nothing about. Maximus told Senani he would share the information with him in time. But now was not the time as Senani was far too weak.
Senani had now became the leader of the guild House Sloth as well as the King of Solamnia. Legend had it that Solamnia was at one point full of knights like Maximus. If Senani could find some of the crypts of these powerful Knights, Senani could greatly increase the power of his kingdom and his guild. Unfortunately, those locations existed only in legends.
Senani decided that for now it would be best for him and Kaz to train with Maximus. Neither had wielded a sword. They would do well to gain at least a basic skill set with one before they ventured further out.
Maximus set them to exercise daily. They practiced doing drills for hours each day with wooden swords. They ran up and down the castle stairs for hours. Maximus sought not only to strengthen their skills but also their bodies. After all, if they could not fight for an extended period, having the skills were not nearly as likely to save their lives. This continued for 6 months. After 6 months Maximus felt they had enough of a foundation in sword skill that they could spar and train with each other on the road. Senani would view his library in his mind and work with Kaz for at least 2 hours per day while they were travelling to increase their capabilities. Before he sent them away, Maximus touched each of their foreheads and a bright light shone from his finger. He had gifted them with a new type of library, this was specific for sword skills and allowed one to quickly integrate an unlimited amount of sword skills in combat. Rather than taking years, it would now take weeks to master a single sword skill. This would make Senani and Kaz far more formidable.
After the 6 months of training Senani was anxious to get on the road. He had Kaz chose the 10 best of his new Mercenaries to accompany Senani and Kaz to the next kingdom. These 10 men would be training on the road with Senani and Kaz. They hoped to have a formidable force before they arrived at any large settlements. Their first location for travel would be an orc settlement farther to the north. Solamnia had been on the border of the human lands to the north. Any area they arrived at would belong to other creatures. The orcs were among the few that would communicate with humans rather than merely attacking them on site. As the king of Solamnia, he hoped to be able to setup trade with the orcs, and recruit some to his mercenary troop. Senani would take anyone who was willing to fight.
