I hit the brake pedal when the car approached a red signal.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Alec asked for the third time in a row.
I sighed. "Yes."
My fingers danced on the leather of the steering wheel.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.
I had no other option. I had to do this. I had to talk to him.
"I think we should consider other options. How about we go back to your father and ask him instead?" He looked at me from the passenger seat.
"Alec.." I warned him.
But he continued anyway.
"How about you collect your shit and pack it up in an air-tight box this time and we go beg daddy dearest again?"
I closed my eyes tight and gripped the steering wheel even harder.
"Alec," I clenched my jaw. "We're not doing it again." I enunciated each word for him. "You know that's not an option. Or do you want me to give my company away to him?"
