Chapter 2 - Collisions ~Demetri~

"Demetri, Demetri are you listening to me!"

I heard my father say sternly snatching me from my daydream. I sat at the kitchen island, blankly staring into the bowl of cereal in front of me.

"Yes father, I'm listening."

" mmm," he brushed me off knowing good and well i wasn't paying attention to a word he was saying. "Well then what are we talking about?"

"My naming day," i said without a second thought. I might have not been paying attention but i knew very well what the conversation was about. It's been the same conversation for the last 3 weeks. Ever since i turned 18 my father had been on my ass about me preparing before my wolf came to be, and he would pass on the title of alpha to me. "I don't see what the big deal is." I stated, but i knew it was the wrong thing to say.

" the big deal?" My father started, more of a statement than a question.

"Honey, don't push him." My mother said patting my fathers arm from across the counter. "If you push him, it just will make this harder on both of you."

Thank Selene, the moon goddess for my mother. My father had been on this tyrannical rant of me preparing for my naming day. Constantly reminding me that the first full moon after my 18th birthday i will be gifted a wolf from our beautiful moon goddess, which will also make me the Alpha of our tribe and will also show me who my mate will be.

"Jenn," my father started.

"Micheal, he just turned 18 he's still got another week until the full moon. Who says his mate will even come to him the same day." My mother stated bluntly not even looking up from her coffee. "And didn't you run away from home the week of you naming day?"

I tried and failed at stifling a laugh. That earned me a glare from the old dog sitting next to me.

" but he's not me, i want him to feel prepared." My father said sounding exasperated.

"Look dear, he's got another week until his naming day and for now he's still just a high school student. If you keep pushing him, he's going to start resenting the whole thing." My mother retorted giving my father a stern look herself. "Meteri, go on to school honey, before you're late." My mother said looking at me.

She didn't have to tell me twice. i jumped up from the bar stool i was sitting on grabbed my backpack from the kitchen counter and made a dash for the door.

"We'll talk about this later son" i heard my father yell as i ran out the door jumping from the porch totally bypassing the steps. I wasn't about to respond.

I just wanted one day of not talking about my naming day. Just one day without my father hounding me on being the future of this tribe, I just turned 18. But that's the last thing i wanted. I just wanted a little more time of being young wild and free before i got stuck handling all the crap with becoming the tribes leader.

When i finally made it to school i jumped out of my escort car and made a dash for the door. Thanks to the never ending conversations about my naming day i was going to be late for first period.

I was sprinting down the hall and made a quick spin into the stair well. Just then i collided with someone making books and papers fly everywhere.

"Damnit," i heard a soft voice spit out in frustration Bending down to pick up the remnants of the chaos.

" my bad," i started but then a strong smell over took my senses. It smelt sweet like my favorite sweet breads at the Latin restaurant my mother used to take me too as a child. I shook my head pushing the thought away and bent down to help the girl with her books.

" it's not your fault i was rushing." She said standing herself up right "thanks for helping."

"Not a problem at all." I said following suit. When i stood up i couldn't help but stare at the beauty standing in front of me. She couldn't have been more then 5'2, petite frame, long black coils hung long down her back. Her face was soft, with round cheeks lightly speckled with freckles. Her big eyes a silver grey, the same as the moon.

"Ummm, may i have my book back" she said her hand out holding on to the other end of the book smiling slightly.

"Oh yeah, my bad." I said quickly releasing my grip on the book.

She giggled again, making my heart pound harder. She readjusted the pile of books in her arms and looked back up at me. " thank you Demetri"

I raised an eye brow at her, " how do you know my name?"

She smirked, simply pointing to the wall behind me. I turned to see a poster of me in my football uniform smiling. My name printed across the bottom. "It's hard to miss the schools super star quarterback."

I turned back to her a shy smile tugging at my lips, " i guess not"

Before i could form the words to ask, she stuck her free hand out in front of her. "My names Luna." She said as if she could read my mind.

I gripped her hand shaking it, my heart nearly leaped out of my heat when she said it. How ironic for her name to be Luna. Before i could respond, a voice jumped in front of mine. "Hey Demetri."

Just then, Misty strolled up next to me pushing herself up against my arm. Prettiest girl in my tribe, the daughter of my fathers right hand man. Everyone was shocked i was still avoiding any type of relationship with her.

I tried, so many times to fall for her. But it never felt right. "Who's your new friend?" She asked sweetly, eyeing Luna standing in front of her.

She sounded sweet, but i knew better. Misty was jealous. She did this all the time, and it was becoming old. I pulled my arm free of her grip, side stepping slightly away from her and towards Luna.

"Hello Misty." I said flatly ignoring the hurt look on her face. "This is-"

"Luna." Luna said finishing my sentence sticking her hand out for Misty to shake.

"Hmm" Misty hummed ignoring her sweet gesture. Luna retracted her hand staring at the rude girl in front of her, the amusement never leaving her eyes.

"So Demetri, my parents are leaving town for the weekend. I got the house all to myself, you should come by." She said trying to move in closer to me.

I rolled my eyes, seeing Luna snicker out of the corner of my eye. "No Misty. My dads been on my ass lately, besides that i have the game tonight and everything going on next week" hey it's mostly true. "Look can we talk later." I said turning back to Luna, who had a smirk plastered on her face.

"Fine!" Misty huffed spinning on her heel.

Once Misty was out of sight, i blew air, raking my fingers threw my hair. A fit of giggles comes from the other side of me.

"Is she always like that?" Luna said clutching her books to her chest.

"Mostly," i said shaking off the irritated feeling.

"You know, if you didn't wanna hang out with her, just say that. Instead of the laundry list of your excuses on why you can't"

" oh so you read minds?" I said arching my eye brow smirking at her earning me a playful smack on the arm and another giggle. My heart kept pounding every single time the noise escaped her.

"I don't need to read your mind, to tell you just lied to her." She then spun around but before taking a step she looked back over her shoulder, "see you around, Wolf" she said just loud enough for only me to hear. With that and a wink she stepped off.

My eyes went wide, my jaw surly on the floor. How could she have known?

"Daaaamn..." my best friend, Marco whistled. "Better pick up ya jaw bro."

"Shut up" i laughed playfully punching him in the arm.

" who's the cutie with the curls?" He asked, as we watched Luna strut away.

"I'm working on that." I said as i spun him heading down the steps to the locker rooms.
