It's been a month since my parents decided to send me off too study in Kishiwada, and today was the day when I get my final results for 10th grade.
With the sun shining high up I changed into my school uniform- a pair of jeans (cause I didn't like the skirts in our uniforms), a white shirt with a red ribbon tie and my favorite loose, baggy cut sleeve hoodie.
Stuffing my face with the delicious food the chef prepared and the toast with jelly I prepared, I called for my parents to come down so we could leave.
---At school---
12:00 p. m.
"Welcome Yuno's parents. Have a seat and I'll bring out Yuno's files.", Ms Satori said as she looked through the folder on her table.
"Ahh here it is," she claimed handing over the report card to my dad, "I'm not sure how she did it but her grades this time are better than ever before. Though she acts like she's uninterested in class and is always sleeping during the day, I think her suspension increased her grades don't you agree? "
My parents agreed and they began discussing the grades amongst each other.
"Her highest scores are in Business studies and Language. I must say I've never seen such high scores in English from any of my students and her"
"GOAL!!!!!!?!! ", I cheered for the football club who had their big final game if the year. I have always enjoyed watching them play and the class room where they planned for the parent teachers meeting (ptm) was just in the right place to enjoy the school.
Suddenly chills ran down my spine
"YUNO! could you focus on this discussion rather than the game or would you prefer to watch the game over this?"
"I'll go watch the game, thanks mom. I'll meet you by the car just give me a call", and just like that I escaped that boring ptm.
After my parents finished their talk they joined me to watch the match and we all cheered for the players. The match was won by our school and after well wishing we left to grab food.
With the faces as happy as dandelion my parents asked me what I wanted to eat.
"Pasta or hotpot.... No pasta but I wanna hotpot how bout hotpot pasta. Wait nooo let's go with pasta for lunch and hotpot for dinner. Yea. What do you guys think???? "
They said since I had been good we could get whatever I wanted. So we went to this small shop in the bustling street market and though the shop was small, the owner was a friend and take my word he made better pasta than one that worked in a 5-star hotel.
"Uncle Jack it's been so long", I ran from the car all the way into the kitchen beaming with excitement.
"There is my favorite pasta monster. How have you been kiddo, I was getting worried that you weren't coming back to meet me anymore"
Uncle Jack is like family to me. For as long as I can remember, he used to baby sit me for my parents due to their absurdly busy schedules. And I usually spend my time after school at his shop helping him prepare food, it's fascinating to see him cook. He's like a magician that never let's me know how he makes such good food.
"Jack it's been a while, how are you doing buddy," dad went on to catch up with Jack while mom and I grabbed seats and began to order.
" One Stuffed Rigatoni, one plate lasagna and white sauce Italian pasta." I told the server and glanced across the table, "Do you want to order some drinks mom???"
"Sure, let's see Tora do you have any Pinot Noir in your shelves or one bottle of your top shelf wine. I know Jack has good taste. And a bottle of sparkling water."
Tora took the order and off she went into the back of the kitchen where the guys were fighting over who cuts the onions better. Honestly I'm going to miss this place the most but I don't plan on giving up on having my pasta dish awknowleged by Jack.
The food arrived and the plan for the summer is being discussed.
After eating food that I always held a special place in my heart, I told Jack about the plan. On his face I saw the same heartbroken face as my parents as he said, "Yuno you'll do just fine. How about I make some cookies for you to take with you"
"Yes sir I will never say no to anything you make", droul flowed out of my mouth instead of words.
After that we went to the supermarket and got hotpot items and then onwards to home.
--Home--
"Yuno, go ahead and pack your stuff. We will leave tomorrow", mom confirmed to me that she was serious.
Mom and Dad decided to take an off from work and we are going on a road trip from Tokyo to Kishiwada
