I looked down and could see the end of a sword sticking out of the middle of my stomach.
'How could this happen? I didn't even notice the person!'
'They're a Hunter!'
I look over at Eva, who looks terrified and I start coughing up blood. I was about to look behind me and see the Hunter who stabbed me, but the sword started shearing through the rest of my stomach, eventually coming out of my hip.
I collapsed to the ground and could see the pool of blood spreading around me, seeping into the cracks in the sidewalk. I looked up and could see Eva grabbing her towel out of her bag and putting it on my stomach, trying to stop the bleeding.
"Alex!" She screams at me, "Stay with me!"
"R-run…. E-Eva!" I try telling her, "N-now!"
"No! I won't!" She screams at me.
My vision starts to go blurry and I know I can't stay conscious much longer.
'I need to know that she's fine, I can't pass out!'
But that wouldn't happen.
My vision continued to get blurry, but the last thing I could see was the Hunter grabbing Eva. She held onto my hand, but because of all of the blood her hand slipped away from mine. The Hunter punched her in the stomach, knocking her out, and took her away.
Then it's all black.
When I could finally open my eyes all I could see was an endless void. My body felt like it was floating in a frozen lake. I tried yelling, but nothing came out. All I could do was look around into the emptiness of this void.
'I can't feel any pain from my wound, so there's an upside.'
I started to wonder if everything that just happened was a dream. I wasn't dying and Eva didn't get kidnapped.
"You are on the verge of death, Alexander Kleave." I hear a voice echoing in my mind
I don't know who this is, but it sounds like a child. His voice is off though. Although it was a child's voice it was very distorted.
If this voice was telling the truth, this wasn't a dream. I was going to die soon and Eva got kidnapped.
'If all of what just happened was real…. I can't die here and leave Eva where ever the fuck she's being taken to.'
"You might not have to die." The voice says.
'He's able to hear my thoughts!'
"Naturally." He says.
'Who are you!'
"You can call me Liebe." He says.
'You said I don't have to die, how!?'
"I can give you a power that will heal your body and give you the power to defeat the Hunters that took your sister." Liebe says, "However with any power, there is a price to pay."
'I will accept any consequences to save my sister!'
"Anything you say? You must be very desperate." He laughs, "You may not survive the acceptance of this power, along with other things."
'I am desperate and I'll die anyways if I don't accept it.'
"Very true." He says.
"Someone has called an ambulance and they are fast approaching, soon you'll be in the ambulance being taken to the hospital." Liebe tells me, "While that happens your sister will be taken further away from this location and you may not be able to find her."
"I will ask one more time Alexander. Do you want to accept this power?" He asks.
'Yes! Give me the power!'
"Alright then, you will never be the same after this and the pain will be extreme." Liebe tells me.
'I'm okay with that.'
"I truly hope you survive this." He says.
I slowly start to wake up and when I open my eyes I see that I'm in an ambulance.
'Liebe was right. I guess I can trust him for now.'
Suddenly I could feel the pain from the wound in my side, but it felt like the fibers were being attached back together and the pain was excruciating. The blood in my body was replenishing itself at an alarming rate too. I've always been a fast healer, but this was inhuman.
The pain in my side started to go away, but all the blood that leaked into my organs while I was healing were making their way up my throat and gushing out of my mouth.
I could see the paramedic who was in the back with me trying to incubate me to keep me from choking on my blood. When she went to put the trake in I grabbed her wrist and I quickly sat up and covered her mouth to make sure if she screamed it was muffled. The blood was finally starting to stop coming up my throat.
Then out of nowhere horrendous pain filled my whole body. My whole body stiffened and the pain grew every second that passed by. It felt like my body was being tossed off a 15 story building and the impact kept happening repeatedly. Over and over, the pain grew with each time I hit the ground.
Whatever Liebe did to me, it wasn't over.
