Chapter 23 - The call

"We are not sure! But those who touched by Lashuka went all dark except the girl that I mentioned!"

Patrise learned about everything through prying over her father's documents therefore I reckoned that why she was too prudent that those words be locked in that room.

I saw her eyes were glittering. Certainly, she thought I was the girl that had gotten the Lashuka's touch.

"What happened to other girls?" I felt pity.

"Neither of them returned!"

"Can you bring back my memory? Exactly when I was ten?" I asked bitterly despite being aware of that she left in amazement. She wasn't just a simple combat judge. She had gotten a blessing.

She marveled, I smiled.

"How do you know about my power? Even the immortality court kept it a secret! Not even the king knows about it. I am the only mind reader that ever existed."

"I heard your voice when you were taking out information from one of the wraiths in that building! You told it, 'let your mind speak to me!' so I guessed that you have the skill to read the minds."

I just confessed that I didn't entirely lose my consciousness by the wraith that dove that crystal blade into me! Even the thought could bring me soreness.

"You know that it isn't a gift!" She wasn't keen to have that skill.

"I feel you better than anyone, Patrise." The words left my heart not only my mouth. I was frightened to the bone and at the dead of this night, I asked her to take a risk on me and summon a hidden part within me that surely could be unpleasant.

"Ok, I will do it for you and the sake of Vita! But now you know many secrets!" She declared in a warning tune! I noticed that she was nice and at the same time could be cruel if she discovered a betrayal. She was like a queen or could be a queen.

My heart was hammering inside my chest, ruling and leading unfriendly chaos! I didn't care that what sort of punishment Ai would do to me if she realized that Lashuka touched me! She might toss me out of Aligners field swiftly and if I were the Lashuka bride everything would go in the wrong way.

"Is it painful?" I asked like a little girl who was afraid of injection.

She stood in front of me, glancing into my eyes; she was studying my face to see if I was sure about that matter.

"A bit of headache might kick you. But I rather have my brother beside me. I am not sure if I can resist Lashuka's dark power." She said and it meant she was sure about his power within me. She highly believed that I was the last girl.

I nodded. She called out for Enammer! As he entered and she explained the situation and my request, he disagreed. His face revealed deep dismay after knowing what his sister was about to do! But Patrise just ignored his frown.

Here or then, now or later Lashuka would take another step thus, what if he were about to seize again I could have become the first menace against Vita. I heard his voice in my head and it was saying that he was out there to trap me.

She asked me to have a seat on the floor and allowing my memories to flow ahead. I followed either of her demand, clutching my fist I waited for her to take action. Meanwhile, I peeked at Enammer who was standing near us, his hand on his shock gun and a sword. I was wishing that he wouldn't pull the trigger on me.

A fay crane had become dark because of me, the earthquake could be from a Numazu side that worked for Lashuka and if it wasn't for An's quick movement I was with that God of the dark world now, preparing myself for the forced marriage and becoming a dark queen of wraiths!

She took hold of my hands. A golden light began to grow, flashed out of them, I was speechless, and my eyes just followed what she was doing. My sights rolled up on her eyes that were glowing out a golden light.

She was like a star that lost her way on our earth to light up my dark world. Now, in my perspective she was more than a queen, she could be a muse that was wearing a human's body.

"Show me, Tania! Show me what happened when you were ten."

When she asked to show what we want a cold gusting wind blew around us; I closed my eyes and let her power possessing me totally. Her voice was like a sweet and warm mother's lullaby that made my eyelids heavy then with a sudden attack of memories, I sensed as if monkeys were rebelling and ruling into my head.

It was noisy chaos that brought me a headache, it was as if those buzzing monkeys took hold of my veins and were jumping, playing around, revealing their ideas, hitting my skull with a mass of coconuts.

Then everything fell in sheer silence. We were in a mere dark and Patrise was standing beside me, there was an old fraying door in front of us. She walked to the door and said, "Follow me, let's wish we are in a right place." She opened the door and we walked into a place.

I heard the monkey clock's tick tuck sound on the wall then my eyes rolled on the clown doll that was on the desk. It was a birthday gift from the chase. My feet passed a huge puzzle laid wide open on the ground. We were as if ghosts, strolling around to spy on others. Someone was under a white blanket and a flashlight was reflecting out, splashing a faint hazy yellow light. It was my room and that person was I.

"Can't I see us?" I asked.

"No, but you might sense! If Lashuka found us, don't interfere because it might ruin everything in the future. Memories of the past can harm so let them go and run when I warned."

"What am I doing at this time? It is midnight and already past my bedtime." I was frowning, I knew that I was a bad troublemaker and at this time, I was seeking a new one for sure.

From the flapping of papers and turning them, we noticed that was a huge book as it was half out of the blanket, dangling with it, sticking the younger me. However, I couldn't remember that I had any book as big as that.

"I think we might want to see what you were doing." Patrise suggested curiously.

I was glad that her memory's call went in the right place and agreed to her idea. Yet, I felt the butterflies in my stomach about Lashuka's presence.
