Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 | Reading More Books

Returning to her study, she continued from where she left off.

「Chapter 3: Skills」

[ Skills are actions that are imbued with mana for greater results. It can do basic stuff like increasing your strength or your weapon's sharpness to using elemental magic. Its similar to spells yet fundamentally different. Skills do not require much mana unlike Spells that drain a lot of mana if left unchecked. Unlike Spells, Skills can be engraved into small objects. That can be attached to armors or weapons to increase their utility, efficiency and value. Of course, how many skills you can add to a weapon is limited by the size of the weapon. Engraving Skill runes directly into the weapon's blade will allow you to use only one skill and it will reduce the durability of the weapon so I do not recommend to do so. Its much more efficient to just craft a weapon or armor with ports to insert Skill runes. A lot of Spells are actually Skills. Like Regeneration, Wind Blade and some other basic "Spells". There are more than just that. The main difference between Spell and Skill are casting and the foundation. Skills do not require a magic circle and have a small cool-down. Spells on the other hand require magic circles and do not have a cool-down. It depends on how fast you can create your magic circle and your Mana Capacity. I did draw the magic circle for the Spells or runes for the Skills because you can actually activate it through the diagram. I have yet to find an object similar to paper that is incapable of storing, absorbing and conducting Mana. Maybe enchanting the paper would make paper more suitable for this. Perhaps cursing it would do it. If this book does not have any more chapters then that means that I found no more groundbreaking information while on my journey to find The Tome of Enchanting and Cursing. ]

The rest 97 pages were blank. 'Why even add a book like this in the National Library.' she thought that to herself as she continued flipping through the pages. Since the section of the Library she visited was one related to Magic, she couldn't play around with Enchants and Curses. 'It would be fun creating legendary items and scattering them around the world.' she thought to herself as she giggled whilst not knowing the book she read began to slowly disperse into the air and soon vanished.

Hopping onto her bed and letting her fantasies run wild, she completely forgot about the book. After an eventless 10 hours of sleeping, she woke up and began another day of her mundane life. Getting ready for the day, having breakfast with her parents, 6 hours of tuition that included but not limited to magic, mathematics, politics and etiquette. Then would be her reckless magic training overseen by one of the Court Magician, Zeron without the knowledge of the young girl. Zeron wouldn't show himself unless she was in some sort of danger but that had never happened so far.

After dinner, she went to her room as usual and she was in quite a dilemma because she couldn't chose a book from the rest of the books that she hadn't read yet.

She ended up attempting to read the 「Magic Theories 12th Edition」 but it turned out to be a collection of ideas that were thought of by the students of Alburg Magic Academy. She lost all interest when she realized that and tossed the book aside and the other book didn't have anything helpful at all. It consisted of basic magic that she had already learnt how to cast without a chant, thanks to her evening trial and error training. And just like that, she had declared that she ran out of books to read and went to sleep.

The next morning, she had her breakfast with her parents and went to the Nayional Library to return the books and possibly find more suitable ones. The whole Cyrus ordeal was still in her head but everyone including her had forgotten about the existence of the book. After returning the books, she decided to head into the Historical section. The Historical Section had books that recorded events of the past, civilizations that may or may not exist at the current time period, important events that had taken place in various locations, etc. Her thought process was that if there was a civilization that was well developed in terms of magic, there would be deciphering of runic symbols.

It had not occurred to many that Runic Symbols could be used as alphabets or words.

She spent 30 minutes finding a book that had a suitable civilization but what a shame, not all the symbols were deciphered and she saw some that weren't even used. Thinking that they could've messed up the runes, she put the book back in the shelf.

If only she was born somewhere she could conduct such researches. The only thing she could do right now was master more high level magic in order to make life easier in the next life.

She spent another 25 minutes going through the book and it only gave her information on basic runic symbols that she could've guessed.

Magic circles had runic symbols that were used for stabilising and specifying the power of the spell so she tried to learn the runic symbols and could've guessed some. Whenever she used a fire spell, she could see the same symbol over and over the same could be applied for other elemental spells. So she came to the conclusion that the runic symbols in the middle meant the element of the spell and she was correct about that.

She had much more she wanted to do but because she was born as a daughter of the nobility, what she could do was limited since she hadn't even had her Coming of Age ceremony and had no interactions with people other than her parents and the servants of the mansion.

But that limitation would soon be gone.
