A brief flash of red covered my vision, and I felt strangely compelled. A call to action, a strange desire to kill. I noticed my change in behavior immediately, even before I began speaking, as I felt the heavy feeling of bloodlust being emitted into the air. Normally, I'm not entirely capable of producing such a refined and deadly killing intent… I mentally sat back and wondered for a while, getting used to this feeling.
I walked forward towards the Dragon, mentally writing its name down as the beast fearfully writhed away from the purple and black flames that coated my spear. "Nyztafix, huh-? So interesting… such a vaguely familiar name."
"P-please, spare me-!"
"Nonsense, it makes no sense for me to harm you. So, tell me, what are you doing here-?" I laughed.
"I-I'm just passing through this world, I needed to escape from a dying world and I just barely escaped-"
I sat down across from the Dragon, listening intently as I stared into the deep and complex pattern of its scales. "Ah, a shame. Another dying world… What kind was it-? Oh, and do feel comfortable enough to sit and relax. Take your human form if you wish."
"I don't feel comfortable enough- you scare me more than that infestation that was in that world- uh, no offense… L-Lord Avery?"
"None taken I suppose." I sighed.
"R-right… I come from a world of Dragons, and… well, I am the Nebula Dragon Nyztafix." It mumbled, laying its head down defensively as it refused to blink with its cold eyes filled with stars.
"Are you, perhaps, a Greatwyrm? You look so… appetizing." I grinned softly. "You should know, being a Dragon, that we are naturally cannibalistic… right~?"
It quivered, almost flinching in response to being showing my teeth. "Y-you scare me, Lord Avery--"
"Enough. Now, since you do not intend to stay I won't hold you any longer. But you cannot remain within this place for more than a week, as this is the remains of one of my satellites." I stood up and raised my spear. "What do you suppose we do about that, after all, you've been around for a little more than that."
"I-I'll leave! B-But, before I go- u-uh… information-! I have lots of knowledge you may be interested in-!" Nyztafix stammered, raising a claw in a defensive position while almost sobbing.
Am I truly that terrifying? I'm just being honest… beings from the outside world typically bring nothing but trouble. Disease, War, Famine… it's not something I'm interested in dealing with. I sighed as I lowered my spear.
"Speak."
Killing intent rushed from my body like water flowing from a faucet, if I were not in such a weird mental state I would have been convinced the very air around me grew to have a red tint.
Nyztafix fell to the floor, his large head lifted to me like a begging dog. "I-I… I'm not just from another world, but from another Crystal Sphere-! A-And, I know you can't travel between them, Lord Avery, but- I figured a loophole that you can use to go back in time, to the primordial realms-!"
"...primordial realms…?" I scratched my chin in confusion and interested, giving a slight grin as well. Nyztafix's sorry expression turned to one of joy and hope as I seemed to be interested in what he had to offer.
"Y-yes! L-Let me elaborate, you see… while our 'Existence' cannot coincide with another 'Existence' that occurs at the same time because of Atlas's laws, there is no law in going back to a place before the creation of 'Existences'."
"Ah, I get it. You are delusional." I raised my spear with fury at the bastard who wasted my time. "You'd be better off as material than a subordinate, Nyztafix. Shame. I was at least considering you for some sort of position, despite being a dirty betrayer of Dragon-kind."
"No! I swear! What is it you don't understand, my lord?!"
"I can't understand why'd you bother begging for a life that's done nothing more than waste my time."My eyes softly emitted a dull, red light as I was filled with hatred. In an almost dream-like state, I lifted my spear and pressed it against his forehead. "I was excited, you know, to encounter a Dragon after I was informed about the death of all monster-kind. But to me, you are no monster… just a sniveling little coward who speaks as if he understands the nature of the divine realm, but can barely understand how things work in reality. Tell me, what exactly made you stumble across such foolish ideas? How can you even begin to imagine that Atlas, of all people, would make a mistake like preventing such a rare form of magic like Chronurgy to be capable of breaking his rules?"
"It's true! I swear it my lord!" He sobbed. "It requires usage of Void and Chronurgy, but there exists a time period his Rules cannot effect because he hadn't existed until that point-! I swear, I was just as confused and baffled when my simulacrum stumbled upon this revelation-- but there is more! Atlas does not permit of this action, but after speaking with him dire-"
"Silence-!" I yelled, pressing the spear and cutting away at his right eye, burning it away with Chaos Fire as he reared back in pain- clutching his eye with his large claw. "Nobody has spoken to him since that Noir-wielding bastard of a Yokai … Kage, that stupid fuck got us all in trouble with him-! How did you come into contact with him-!?"
Nyztafix cried and sobbed out, seemingly crushed by my gaze as he bowed his head. "L-Lord Atlas held a meeting amongst the Primordial deities-- I-I had connections to the Primordial Night, and she got me in contact with him about these rulings-!"
I sat and scratched my chin silently for a moment, and then refocused my gaze onto him. "Is Nyx still offering that deal she promised me…?"
"I know nothing of such a deal, b-but I can ask at a later time!" He plainly responded.
Annoying. Primordials are such sticks in the mud. Well, either way, I suppose it's time to do a bit more investigation.
