It had been exactly one week since Silla took in Cain and everything had been going great so far; he had become a consistency in her life. He waited for her with a grin in the mornings and with a smile in the afternoon. His innocence and sweetness began to tear her down, and slowly they warmed up to each other.
Sometimes she would make lunch and they would sit out on the roof of the complex and laugh about nonsense while eating. Other times when she was swamped with work, he would make little crafts to give her at the end of the day.
The only problem was that without her Cain becomes a complete wreck. He cries when she leaves for work in the morning and when she comes back he clings to her. At first she had no idea children were so expensive until She had to go out and buy more food, clothes, and other necessities.
Of course she had plenty of help from Zelan, Clovis, and Katya. Even some of her coworkers from the bar came to babysit. It seemed they too had fallen in love with him. However, it came as no surprise since he was such a sweet boy. "Silla! Hurry up!" The boy suddenly yelled impatiently. She loved the kid to death but as of right now she needed a little break. She sat in her bubble bath tapping away on her device while Cain sat outside the door whining. He wanted to join her, but she had told him no because she needed a little alone time before she went insane.
Alarmingly her device suddenly rang in her hand startlingly her and almost causing her to drop it into the soapy water. Upon picking it up, she heard a familiar feminine voice. "Hey Clovis," she sighed tiredly into the phone.
"Whoa you sound awful," She spoke dramatically into the phone.
"Oh really? I didn't notice," Silla told her blatantly.
"Hun, you need a break. Let me take you out tonight," Clovis coaxed her friend.
"Yeah but who will watch Cain?" Silla inquired.
"Katya already offered. Besides you and Zelan live together. I'll pick you up at six," She spoke before hanging up giving her no room for argument.
After an hour of sitting in the bathtub of hot water and bubbles doing nothing, Silla walked out in her pajamas while drying the sides of her head. "That felt so good~ It feels like my skin is glowing!" She moaned, her ears twitching at the sound of little feet running across the floor. She was suddenly knocked over as Cain hurled himself towards her; flying in mid-air. For such a small thing, he sure was spry. As he clung to her body, she groaned and softly petted this head Cain instantly rubbed his head against her hand as if he was waiting to be patted.
Just as she set him down there was a loud knock on the door. Startled Cain immediately crawled back up her leg as she opened the door.
Quickly she was greeted by both Katya and Clovis. Upon seeing them, Cain made an annoyed face and 'tch'ed.
"That brat of yours used to be skinny but now he's quite chubby, darling." Clovis joked.
"H-Huh- N-No he's not he's just healthy now!" She defended the boy.
"Hehe relax I was just teasing! Let's go!" she joked. Realizing Silla was going to leave the small boy begun to pout but he suddenly let out a loud squeal as Katya threw him in the air twirling. On cue Clovis slammed the door shut, ran down the street dragging her along. It seemed like Zelan and Katya had devised a plan to get her out of the house before they even came.
Thankfully the drive was uneventful. Though passing by certain areas they could tell the tensions were high. The only reason they were even going out was that clubbing would be much easier and cheaper; the ideal night out. Her friends surely didn't want to miss this opportunity of a lifetime.
Of course it was all because of Black Sun's most recent attack. Everyone in the City was on edge.
The attacks made Silla nervous about going out to such a popular place, but it was highly unlikely that anything would happen and yet... She wasn't so sure about this idea. Nothing bad was going to happen. Right?
Once the hour it took to arrive was up they were at the entrance of the most popular bar in the lower ring and Silla felt extremely under dressed. After all she was just wearing sweatpants, a extra large T-shirt, and flip flops. Although she doubted anyone would notice with all the alcohol that was being consumed it still made her nervous.
Loud techno music reverberated against the walls like we're were at a rave. People consisted of odd clothing that barely covered them made of thin straps, plastic, fishnets, and bright neon colors glowed in the purple flashing lights.
Hair was dyed strange colors and was done up in strange shapes. Bodies stuck together like glue and people were decorated with festive glitter and strong makeup. In the crowd a man had golden horns coming out of his head, and a woman even had her hair extravagantly shaped into a bird the oddity seemed to work for them and it looked cool with the multicolor flashing lights. It was as if the gods had adjusted the colours of the world just for tonight.
Exotic dancers danced with glittery tape over their most private of places and did trapeze tricks, walked on tightropes, and danced along the stages. Just about all of the servers were robots and seemed to be humanoid.
Another friend sat next to Silla flirting with the waiter that had a strange mustache that stuck out the sides of his face and curled at the ends. He brought multiple alcoholic drinks as a little machine poured them for us at the table. One of the drinks had blue flames around the ring that when touched didn't burn but left a tingling feeling on your skin.
They were having the time of their lives and somehow something felt off to her. Something wasn't quite right, it was as if two eyes had been placed on her and were never coming off until the day she died.
From then on she didn't notice anything strange, she didn't notice the bloody hands on the window, or the pale blood covered face above pressed against the glass of the ceiling skylight staring down below the window fogging with the unearthly creatures breath.
Not much later the large double door opened letting everyone know that another customer had walked in. Swinging open a tall, slender figure emerged from the other side.
Silla looked up in surprise to see a man in a black suit. He was very sophisticated and was no a person you would expect to see in the lower ring. No one seemed to notice this man and the ones that did didn't think much of it.
Underneath his black suit was a simple white undershirt; the top part of the suit being a black button up vest.
Noticeably, over his large shoulders he had a long black overcoat that had the neck collar puffed out but not too exaggerated and a white mask that only concealed part of his face, eyes, and nose. On his hands he wore thick black leather gloves that stopped at his wrists and to put it all together it was neatly arranged with a black tie. Loosely wrapped round his neck was a light grey satin scarf. The mans skin however held many tattoos that went all the way up to his neck. Furthermore, when he adjusted his white cuffs, his golden cufflinks beneath them revealed even more ink up his arms. A silver glare strangely caught her eye. Around his slim waist was a black leather belt with a silver belt buckle. On the sides of the belt under his overcoat unnoticeable to most were two long silver pistols, one on each side of his waist hidden in their black holsters.
Women were easy targets so Silla had learned how to spot when someone was concealing a weapon and if they were a danger to her or those around her.
Never the less what stuck out the most in his elegant figure was the bright red blood that was not his smeared and splattered along the left side of his face; showing most brightly on his white mask.
Dauntingly the most alarming thing was the way the other intruders who also wore a similar white mask and black robes followed behind him through the door as if he was the leader. Looking from her hindsight, she could see him sit in one of the booths relaxing as if this was normal.
It was hard for her to look at him due to her blurred vision from the flashing lights, but she could make out a few more details. He seemed to be quite tall and had messy sandy blonde hair that hung in his face and went down to his shoulders. Albeit she didn't stare directly at him in fear that she would catch his attention she could tell he was very handsome.
Moreover getting back to Clovis she laid on her chest drinking and listened to the music for another hour and talked about random topics the conversation soon making its way to the strange man she saw. "I-I have a r-really bad feeling about him Clov." The young girl whispered as Clovis side eyed the girl in agreement.
"He's up to something, but what?" Silla added more to herself.
"Pft, you worry too much, but, if he does bother us I'll deal with him." Clovis' husband chuckled, jokingly. They both gave him a small laugh in return and wearily continued chatting about other things when almost immediately the lights dimmed casting a more sinister feeling into the gathering making it even harder to see as all three of them looked at each other in fearful acknowledgement.
The same gut wrenching feeling came back again with a vengeance except this time she knew something was going to happen.
Something bad...
She must've jinxed her self because the loud partying was soon abruptly stopped by a strange silence that erupted as the sound of bombs went off outside. Dust and debris and smoke clouding the area as they watched from inside in shock.
It wasn't much longer that screaming from a further area startled everyone around. Through the windows white masked men could be seen running around the streets causing chaos.
Black Sun...
We were being attacked. There had already been wars between the upper and lower ring. Silla guessed the wealthy aristocrats of the upper ring had gotten tired of the poor complaining, and they wanted control over both sectors of the city.
She knew that they had to get out now otherwise they were sitting ducks. If she waited any longer, they would probably kidnap them and from the rumors she's heard of what Black Sun does to its captives it would be better to be dead. So she was going to take her chances outside.
There was a single man by the back door. All she had to do was get past him and she was home free. Easy enough right?
Plan in mind she slowly got up and shot forward. As a result he wasn't expecting it and was too shocked to react. She lunged forward quickly sprinting toward him and as a last attempt tried to jab her but Silla's reflexes kicked in and she ducked trying to cleave his legs. Panting she moved dashed grabbing his head and pushing down. Her knee slammed into his face and she thrusted my arm with enough power to knock him out cold.
Just as she cleared the path for their escape someone grabbed both her forearms and Silla tried to get out of their grasp but they were too strong.
"Prinesti yeye vpered," Their leader commanded darkly in an unknown language as they brought me forward causing her to struggle even more ferociously.
Now Silla was so close to him that she could see him clearly even with a mask on. Her hair hung in her face as she made an attempt to conceal her identity and sweat dropped when he stood up from the booth. His hand came forward causing her to violently flinch expecting him to back hand her. Surprisingly, all he did was grab her chin to try and get a clear view of her face before she bit his fingers jerking away.
"Fuck! Ona kusayetsya!" He spoke venomously.
Silla growled back at him and spit the blood from his fingers out of her mouth in fury. "Vozmozhno ya dolzhen vyrvat' yey zuby?" He questioned one of his lackeys jokingly with a dark expression cast on his face.
