Chapter 30 - The Castle of Destiny

"It was forty years ago when Aace died. I outlived most of the Knight's, save for Sir Henry."

"That's life for ya. Eh, Sir Christopher, you wanna stop at those Islands over there?"

"That's were we've been heading this whole time."

Sir Christopher and the Captain sailed into port. The Isles where green and fresh, the sunshine gleaming around them. On the docks was a man in full armor.

"We have been expecting you, Sir Christopher. Come with me."

The Captain tried to unsheathe his blade and threaten the man but he was cut down. Sir Christopher tried to fight the man but he was too old to best the soldier.

"If all this rudeness is out of the way, I need you to follow me. In fact, we can tour the market first."

Sir Christopher grudgingly agreed, getting up and following the strange man into the market. He saw elixirs, potions, and magic books. He saw jewelry made from dragon bones and with dragon fire. He asked the soldier if there were still dragons in the dragon Isles.

"There are, yes. But they live on the other islands. The Dragon Knights guard the Isles under the protection of the dragons."

"How long to dragons live?"

"They are immortal. If a dragon has a knight bound to it, the knight will also be immortal."

"How does one become bound with a dragon?"

"A mage transports your consciousness into the dragon's mind where the knight must defeat the dragon and impose his will in the dragon."

"Did a man named Hannibal come here? He had a dragon. Big thing. I threw one my swords into its eye and killed it."

"Hannibal did come here. But he was not welcome. That terrible mage of his forced the dragon to his will. The mage said, "I'll see you in the March."

"What does that mean? And I'm pretty sure that mage is dead. His name was Mortimer. We destroyed Dragonrock when we fought Hannibal. That mage should have died there."

"The mage is alive, I can still feel his presence. As for what that means, you'll have to see the Castle of Destiny. It was told that you would come here in the Castle."

"I came in search of the secret to longevity."

"The Castle has all the answers you seek. Follow me."

Sir Christopher followed the soldier to a large fortress. There he stood in awe of the Castle of Destiny.

As Sir Christopher stood in awe of the great castle, he was lead inside by the soldier. Inside he saw paintings on the castle walls. He saw the battle and the beginning, peace against chaos, Michael against Cromwell. He saw the Michael's great sacrifice, as he saw the three souls of Hope, Unity, and Justice. He saw the great war between Cromwell and Titus in the Age of Kings. He saw the two thousand year dark time, where no one saw any glimpse of hope. Then he saw Aace. He saw the man that lead him and the Knight's Company through countless battles. He saw Aace Unifing the four swords, ushering in the Age of Unity. The last painting showed his own arrival at the Dragon Isles.

"How does this place have all those events?"

"That is unknown to us. The paintings show up and they are always true. I've seen them appear first hand. Truly magnificent."

"How? Your like twenty?"

"And your like ninety. The inhabitants of the Dragon Isles stayed immortal when the dragons left after Michael's sacrifice."

"So how to I become immortal?"

"You must become a Dragon Knight. Our mage will be able to help."

"Maybe my back will stop hurting."

Sir Christopher followed the soldier to the docks so he could be introduced to one of the dragons.

As they walked up the steps on the Dragon Island, they saw an enormous black dragon.

"It has to be at least four times the size of Daytona."

"Her name is Athenix. She is the harbinger."

"The harbinger of what?"

"Destiny."

Sir Christopher's conscience was then transferred into Athenix's mind.

"You will bend to my will."

Sir Christopher fought Athenix's beast mind until he subdued it. When he finally gained control, his consciousness was transported back into his body. They were as one now. He was immortal. His body rapidly de-aged until he was once again in his prime. He felt younger, and stronger, a result of him becoming a Dragon Knight.

"You are now Sir Christopher the Dragon. We are yours to command."

Sir Christopher then began to mobilize the Dragon Isles' soldiers in preparation for the final battle against the March of Chaos.
