Camilla looked down at her watch it was almost time for her to leave.
"Will you guys be alright?" she asked her staff.
Ben and the others all nodded. They needed her but didn't want her to miss the get together of her old class.
"Boss don't worry about us, Ben and Rita are here," one of the waiters said.
Her restaurant had the three best chefs including her. Together they made the best dishes ever which made her restaurant famous and that meant a lot of customers.
Tonight was her get together with her high school friends. She didn't want to miss but also didn't want to leave the others busy at the restaurant.
"You just go have some fun for a change" Rita got her coat handing it to her.
"All you ever do is work, it's time you loosen up " Ben pushed her out of the restaurant.
Camilla wore her coat and waved them goodbye. She got into her car and drove off.
If her staff had decided to let her have fun then she had no choice but to go. It had been years since she last saw her high school friends.
After she graduated all she thought about was work, she avoided all her friends' contacts and never called any of them once.
But after her best friend had made her promise to go to the get together she couldn't turn back. Even her staff had betrayed her.
Camilla parked her car and took the elevator to her apartment. As always her cat welcomed her back home. He was a huge black cat with blue eyes named snowy. Her coworkers and parents had teased her about its name. They all wondered why she would name a black cat such a name.
But Camilla never gave them any answer as to why.
He looked up at her and let out a meow.
She carried him in her arms and patted him.
"I won't be home till late in the night so you will have to go to bed without me," she told him.
He meowed again.
She let him down and walked to her bedroom to take a shower.
Snowy was busy cleaning himself with his tongue when Camilla finally walked out of her room. She was dressed and ready to leave.
She poured some snacks for him and grabbed her overcoat.
"Wish me the best Snowy " she smiled before closing the door behind her.
Camilla arrived a few minutes late. Most of her classmates had arrived at the venue. It was one of the best restaurants in the area.
"Camilla " a male voice called. She turned to see Ray walking towards her.
"You look amazing " he hugged her.
Camilla smiled. The black short dress she was wearing had finely outlined her perfect curves, her long black hair and makeup had added more to her feminine charm.
Ray was her best friend and the only person in her high school class she had stayed in contact with.
"Sorry am late," she said looking around the restaurant that had been arranged for the get together.
"Don't bother, most of them just arrived too. Anyway, follow me " Ray grabbed her hand and lead the way.
Camilla followed him to a table filled with most of her classmates.
"Guys, can you recognize who this is?" Ray shouted
All of them stopped drinking and looked up at Camilla.
"Camilla" one of them shouted.
"WHAT, you mean that slim short girl who used to be so quiet is her?" the other shouted.
Camilla knew why they were surprised. She used to be so thin and weak. But after she joined college her body changed with time and since she kept her distance and avoided all her old classmates, none had seen her again.
"Hi, guys " she voiced.
They all laughed as they made space for her to sit.
She was soon deep in conversation with them that she forgot that she had been nervous a while ago.
Ray was beside her which made her even more sociable since she felt more comfortable beside him.
As they were still sharing memories, Ray and the other males around her fell silent.
Camilla looked at where they looking and sulked.
It was him the devil of their old class.
"Chris " she mumbled.
"I still can't believe that he was the son of that billionaire," one of them said.
"Yeah, I was surprised too when I found out he was the new CEO " Ray let out.
Confused Camilla asked what they meant.
"You remember how he used to be so diligent and smart," Ray said.
Camilla nodded.
"Well, it was all because he had to inherit his father's business," her other classmate said.
"And when we got to know who his father was, we were all shocked " Ray chuckled.
"Who is his father?" Camilla asked.
"His father is Thomas Huntsman "
Camilla choked on her drink.
Huntsman was the richest man in the country and owned most of the companies with branches in other countries. He was a billionaire.
They all laughed when they saw her reaction.
"That how we reacted too when we found out " Ray laughed.
Her eyes were still staring at Chris's back when his body turned. It was like he knew she was staring. Her eyes met his and without knowing Camilla was gaping at him.
She looked away instantly when his black cold eyes looked into hers.
Ray passed her a glass of beer. Taking it she finished the whole glass.
Camilla glanced at the place Chris was standing a while ago but he had disappeared.
It was only briefly but she had been able to see his face again. The face that was admired and hated in her high school days. Chris was smart and handsome which made him the center of attention.
Ray and she used to keep their distance from him but there were times she interacted with him.
She sighed, why was she thinking about someone who might not even remember her name.
Pushing those thoughts aside, Camilla went back to eating and drinking with her friends.
Laughing and drinking to her heart's content, Camilla finally decided to leave since it was getting late and most of them were leaving too.
"Ray I have work tomorrow morning, am heading home now," she told her friend.
Ray held her back and helped her walk out.
"Are you going to drive in your condition?" he asked seeing her stagger a few times.
"I can manage " she stammered.
"Let me go get my things and drop you home," Ray said letting her stand out of the restaurant. He was worried she would get in trouble if she drove in her condition. Running off back into the restaurant Ray left her there.
After a few minutes, he returned only to find an empty spot. Her car was still parked so where had she gone.
"Camilla " he called but no one answered.
