Chapter 2 - Caught by cupid's arrow

Ululations and joyful singing filled the atmosphere in the royal quarters as we impatiently awaited our new King. A few joy filled moments later and the big wooden doors flung open. There he was, drapped in expensive material from head to toe. With animal skin placed precisely on his right shoulder and his hand firmly on a wooden cane, there he was... Our king Mukhethwa Rambau. Besides him was Vho Humbulani Rambau who was his mother and our new Queen mother. She was dressed in a teal custom made two piece with a matching coat made of faux fur and a hat made of mink. She was accessorized in pearl earrings and even bigger pearls on her neck. Although the Venda sun was scorching she made no exception when it came to her appearance. She was a woman in her mid fifty's but she took great pride in her appearance. And last but most definitely not least was Mukhetwa's younger brother Thendo. He had the most beautiful set of brown eyes ever laid my eyes on. His eyes shone and glistened as the the sun shone on his beautifully sculptured face. Those eyes..... those big beautiful brown eyes even put the millions of stars that shine brightly on starry nights to shame. Thendo was a tall well built young man, he had very broad shoulders and stood tall always! He had this black coily hair and heart shaped lips. Apart from his very impressive physical features he was very smart. He was an honors student and also headed up the debate commitee. He was the jack of all trades, no wonder girls threw themselves at him. There they were... the mighty Rambau's. They reciprocated class and elegance effortlessly. But after all they were the first family and it was expected of them to take pride in their behavior. "Roni! Roni!" my father shouted as he interrupted my day dreaming. Me and other virgin girls were instructed to go bow before our King and receive blessings from him and his family, this was common tradition that all young women and girls go through when a new king is inaugurated. A few hours went by and i got tired of the hustle and bustle of the ceremony so i decided to go for a walk, destination unknown. I found an old oak tree near the river and sat down besides it. " You've had enough of the festivities too huh" a voice from behind called. I was very startled because i was unaware that i had company. As i turned to look who was there with me i was shocked to see what my eyes showed to me.....
