The underworld… I never knew it had such beautiful skies.
Well… I am in the realm of illusions so it doesn't really matter.
The academy is located in the Erebus, in the realm of illusions, Somnium. If you were to compare the size of Erebus to a country on earth, it would be about the size of Russia, and Somnium's size is almost like New York City.
Ahh… earth. Not many good memories but it's better than the 2nd circle's living circumstances. Wonder how Cordelia managed to survive there.
Alright, I should get to the academy now. Can't be late for the test. I think the academy is… that way.
Upon arriving, I could see others entering the school. Some of them looked human and others looked… well they didn't even try to hide their true form. Guess they must be entering the school to take the test as well.
I also realized that everyone was avoiding me. They made sure they were at least 10 feet away from me.
Jeez, I get the idea, I'm a Hybrid, but that doesn't mean you gotta avoid me like that.
I'm just gonna have to prove myself to them if I ever don't wanna get avoided like that.
I'm thirsty… I need to drink.
I'd take out a water bottle I strapped on my waist and took a sip of it. Please don't ask what is even in this, it took me 2 years just to get used to it.
But while I was drinking, I felt something bump my back and I spat water everywhere in front of me.
Damn it, people just can't look where they are going, can't they?
When I turned around, I was ready to scold whoever just bumped into me until this short, long pink-haired girl with green eyes started apologizing to me.
"Ahh! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! P-please don't hurt me!"
She would then cower behind her bag which I think contains her weapons.
Hmm, I'm still a bit pissed that she bumped into me but I guess I can let it slide. She's even pleading and I'd look like an asshole if I yelled at her anyway.
"It's alright, but please keep your head up next time. Though I must say, I think I'd have to look down to spot someone with your stature. Cause I might accidentally-"
*Sniff*
…
Huh?
When I looked down back at her, she looked like she was about to cry. Was it something I said? Oh…
"Uhh… I didn't mean-"
But before I even finished my sentence, she ran away with tears running down her cheeks.
…
Crap… and just when I thought I could make a friend. Welp… there goes that.
I checked my watch and it was almost time for the admission test.
I'd run forward towards the gate.
Though I should've watched out for the people in front of me.
On the way, I accidentally bumped into some guy.
"Oh crap, sorry man."
But even though I apologized, the guy called me out.
"How dare you?"
And right when I heard that, I knew this wasn't going to end well.
I stopped and turned around to look at the guy I just bumped into.
He had dark skin, a tall, muscular build, black hair, yellow eyes, and scales around his face. If I were to guess, he'd be related to a lizard, or possibly a dragon. The look on his face gave me a bad and violent vibe.
"How dare you… a Hybrid, touch me?"
Oh great, he's a Hybridcist. That's just a term I made up for people that hates Hybrids. Well, actually that's mostly everyone that isn't a hybrid.
Everyone was staring at us. Oh great, now we got a crowd going on. I should just solve this peacefully.
"Hey c'mon man, I apologized, isn't that enough?" I said with a trembling tone. I just want to give the intention that I'm weak and fragile, but I think my body says otherwise.
The man looked at the guy he was talking to who was holding two cases. One was very large and the other was small. He shrugged and the man looked back at me.
"No."
No?
"How about you lick my boot? Then I'll let you go."
I looked around and everybody was chuckling. Does this guy really think I'm going to do that? Even if I really wanna do this peacefully, I'm gonna have to refuse that.
"Sorry, but I'm not a boot-licker, nor do I have a foot fetish."
That seemed to make everyone crack up and the guy's face just got angrier. Oh? Did I push a button?
"Give me that."
He said to the guy next to him and took the large case. Then he opened it and pulled out a humongous claymore.
So he's a heavy type guy. I understand now.
"Oh god, he's angered him now."
"I almost wanna feel bad for the Hybrid. He doesn't stand a chance against Chakzo."
Chakzo? Is he famous or something? Cause I've never heard of someone so stupid in my life.
Everyone around us seemed to back up, wanting to avoid the fight.
Well, if he's gonna swing that massive sword, I guess I should just dodge and weave. It should tire him. I mean, he can't possibly be fast with that thing.
"Here I go!"
He lifted the claymore up and it was blocking the sunlight. When it came down, I just stepped to the side and it struck the floor. I still had every part of my body attached.
"Really? Is that it?"
I asked and smirked. That made him furious and he lifted his claymore and tried again.
"Hya!"
Again, I stepped to the side and avoided him. Man, he's really slow. Why are people afraid of him again?
After he attempted the same thing over and over again, I eventually got bored.
So when he slammed his sword into the ground one more time, I stepped on it and applied pressure.
When Chakzo tried to lift it, he couldn't even manage to pick it up.
"Huh? What the-?"
"C'mon, is that all you've got? There has got to be a reason why everyone here is afraid of you."
Chakzo glared at me with eyes full of hatred and anger. That's when magic circles began to form. Then his entire left arm was engulfed in red flames.
I lifted an eyebrow, curious at what he just did.
"You bastard, now you've made me mad."
Looking around, everyone really backed up for this. Seems I've actually angered him.
"You're going to want to beg for your life after this. This is a sacred family technique only my family is able to learn. The power of the Bragon family."
Th-this guy…
"Hahaha! What's wrong? Too stunned for words? Don't worry, I'll still forgive you if you lick my boot."
This guy… he just reminded me that I can engulf any part of my body with energy. I almost forgot that existed. Welp, not like it's really that useful. I mean, I can probably do that too.
I think I should just end this now. His tone is kind of pissing me off.
I'd slowly open my case and was just about to draw Brina until I felt magic directed towards us and I dodged.
When I looked up to see what happened, Chakzo's left arm was replaced with ice.
"That is enough."
I looked over and there was a woman wearing white noble-like clothes. She was pretty with long black hair, the body shape of a model, and cold violet eyes.
I don't know if it's just me or everyone around me was absolutely frozen when they saw her. Not physically, but like stunned by her appearance. Wait… that's the- nevermind.
"O-Oyuki…"
"If you want to fight, settle it in the arena," She said coldly and Chakzo nodded. When he picked up his sword and placed it back in his case, he gave me a hateful look and walked away.
Looks like she did what I was planning to do for me. Welp, looks like I'll have to use you another time, Brina. There is already another ice princess here.
I closed my case and threw it over my back.
"Crap, they even got someone from the 7th circle involved. Chakzo is from the 6th circle but those from the 7th circle are on a whole 'nother level!"
"Don't forget the 8th and 9th circle. Remember, candidates for the demon king's throne!"
Chatter was heard around us.
Demon king throne? If I recall, that thing has been empty for 10 years now. With his or her presence gone, the demon lords have taken over their duties, but none of them have even claimed his throne, yet.
All this throne stuff has gotten my brain hurting. Never liked thinking too much so I'll just drop the topic.
Now...
To think someone from the 7th circle would stop a fight between a 2nd circle and a 6th circle.
I mean, I didn't really care if it was stopped or not, I could've easily won.
Chakzo and his companion walked inside the building and everyone also walked in as if the fight never happened.
Hmm, I should go ahead and thank her, out of kindness.
"Hey, thanks yo-"
Shink!
I immediately felt magic in the air and when I opened my eyes, an ice spike was headed straight for me. Quickly, I caught it between my index and middle finger.
Whew, that was close.
"Don't talk to me," She said coldly.
Alright... she's not a friendly one.
I shrugged and backed away. Then she took her cold gaze off me and headed into the building.
Man, when are people going to learn how to be nice?
I'd turn and looked at the academy. Then I entered.
