Jack's eyes almost popped out of his head and his jaw dropped to the floor as he heard Eva say his name. "Ahh.. umm.. STEIN! Pinch me, I'm dreaming right?!" Jack pleaded.
"Afraid not." Stein replied.
"How are you here? It's been hundreds of years there's no way?" Jack asked.
"My darling, I couldn't bear the thought of being without you, and when I heard what happened, I froze myself. I thawed out every one-hundred years hoping to hear news of your return." Eva said walking toward Jack and embracing him. Squirming away Jack started to run and dove headfirst off the ship. As he took his leap of faith, a strong gust from the blizzard lifted him and flung him back onto the flying city.
"Well, Eva, I'm uhh… so glad you could rejoin me, but I can't have you freezing my entire city." Jack said with a crooked smile.
"Ahh, Jack, your heart is far colder than any weather I could create" Eva said in an icy cool tone of subduction. "But it seems you brought another little bird to your nest, what is she to you?" Eva asked.
"She's my new secretary, she'll keep track of all the evil I need to do, not that it's your business." Jack said.
"Mhm, one moment, please." Eva said. The wind kicked back up and suddenly Eva was gone.
"Well Jinx, seems the crisis is adverted for now anyway." Jack said. He turned, glanced all around, and noticed Jinx was nowhere to be seen. Jack began scrambling to look in every crevice he could, and yet he couldn't find her. "EVA! Where did you go?" Jack yelled.
Like a snowy breezy let in through an open window, Eva flew in and materialized with Jinx inside Jack's quarters. "Let's have a little chat, lady to lady, shall we?" Eva said pouring two glasses of an unknown dark liquid. Jinx just gazed at the glass with a blank expression. "It's not poison if that's what you're thinking or would you like ice?" Eva asked.
"I'm just not.. erm.. much of a drinker." Jinx replied.
"Oh, loosen up, will you? But enough, let's get down to business. How do you feel about him?" Eva questioned.
"I mean, I don't know him that well, but he seems like he's someone who could be admired by many." Jinx said.
"Don't give me that! Tell me the truth." Eva pressured her.
Blushing, Jinx replied, "IT'S THE TRUTH!"
Eva bursted out laughing, "Okay, fine. If that's how you really feel, we'll see how it plays out, I'll be in touch.
The blizzard began to settle slightly and the flying city landed beside Jack's own, the city of Libast. Jack and the rest walked inside and settled in the now frozen, dark tower.
"This is quite the mural you painted in my room, Eva." Jack said gazing at Gar frozen in a picture. Just then, Stein walked into the room, when he noticed Gar, he pointed and laughed.
"Where I'm from, we have a saying, 'life imitates art', and right now it's so cold that this is the perfect art piece." Stein said.
"Gar, stop lounging around, we've got work to do. Let's warm this place up!" Jack said. As he spoke, he pointed his finger at the goblin maid. Entranced, the goblin began beating at the frozen Gar with a club, slowly freeing him from his icy prison. As Gar's face broke free, the goblin switched his attention from and began pounding his face until he woke up.
"I'm awake, you blistering, baboon! I'm awake!" As Gar broke free, he lunged for the club, "Gimme that!", he shouted. Gar began chasing the goblin maid all around, taking a swing every chance he could in hopes that one would land, but due to his age, he wasn't as nimble and was quickly worn out.
Gathering at the top of the frozen, dark tower, Jack was prepared to do what it took to thaw his city. "Okay Eva, enough play time. Undo this blizzard." Jack demanded.
"I create snow and ice, that doesn't mean I can take it away.." Eva replied.
"Then we have no choice but to get our forge up and running" Jack said.
"….A forge to warm an entire forest doesn't seem logically thought out." Stein said. "Well, unlike ordinary forges, ours doesn't use a flame. Instead, molten lava will be used to heat the metals up." Jack replied.
"I still don't think a pit of lava will stop a blizzard, Jack!" Stein said.
"Not just any pit of lava, Stein… my pit of lava!" Jack replied.
"I'm pretty sure I hate you." Stein replied.
"Begin the forge!" Jack shouted to the heavens. At that moment, every creature from goblin to ghoul, armed with a pickax, began to crush the rocks before them until a massive pool was formed. Soon, tunnels were running from every direction in the caverns.
"Your man power rivals even science at its peak, but you have a forge with no fire or lava what's the plan?" Stein asked.
"Just watch" Jack laughed.
"Role call!" Jack yelled. A group of ill mannered, wide-eyed goblins ran up from the lower caverns all the way up the dark frozen tower. The stumbled and assembled in the room; Jack stared them down one by one while they stood all jittery, shoving each other, and trying to be the one crowned for whatever reason Jack called. "You, come with me" Jack demanded, pointing at the goblin in the middle of the pack. The goblin perked up with such excitement. He ran on top of the shoulders and heads of his fellow goblins, taunting them along the way. As the goblin reached him, Jack grabbed him and jumped up to what seemed as high as the sun. The goblin gazed over the horizon he saw and found himself with a new appreciation for the world. In this moment, he saw far more than his little home in the rubble that he was use to. Suddenly, Jack started spinning, faster, and faster in the sk. The goblin was getting extremely dizzy.
"He isn't gonna do what I think he's gonna do, right?" Stein asked facing the group of on-looking goblins and Eva. The goblins vision was blurred from the increasing speed of the spin, when all the sudden, he felt Jack release his hand. He shot straight down toward the caverns breaking the sound Barrier on the way. Rocks exploded on impact and flew when he made impact with the ground. The goblin continued downward with such ferocious velocity that he continued breaking through layers of the ground, tunneling downward. He flew right past all the creatures in the cavern that had just finished the forge. Dive bombing down past them in the middle of the forge, the creatures realized what had just happened. They heard more rumbling lava crawling up the newly made path straight down. Before the lava reached the forge, a sound like boiling water from a teapot was piercing the cave system and the goblin shot right back up from where he came from. The lava then began filling the forge and pouring through every tunnel laid within its foundation. As the lava flowed further and further, snow began to melt within the caverns. The goblin shot back out into the air, Jack caught him and returned him to his group.
"How did he live through that unscathed?" Stein asked.
"I wouldn't say unscathed", Jack said. "He's a little more burnt now and a lot less conscious then when I sent him flying. I gave him a small barrier so he wouldn't go splat right away." Jack said cheerfully. Black smoke was now racing out of the hole made from the impact and more and more ice was melting by the second. "There we go, now we can make weapons and stop freezing. Next time Eva, don't freeze my stuff while I'm away." Jack said as Eva shrugged. Meanwhile, the goblin woke up with slight amnesia from the impact. He only remembered flying into the air one second, followed by the feeling of extreme heat. So, as he woke up and told other goblins using gibberish only they understand, he recounted the horror he saw and vowed to never go outside again.
