"What do you two boys think you're doing up here?!" A teacher yelled.
"Oh shit.." Kokichi mumbled.
"What do you think you're doing up here miss?" He smirked, with a finger to his lips.
"Hey, Shu, stand at the edge and prepare yourself." Kokichi whispered to the taller boy.
"W-wha..?" Shuichi stuttered in confusion.
Kokichi took a large purple Cape out of his bag, before looking at the teacher mischievously.
"Well.. miss? You got an answer..?"
"Kokichi Oma, you little-"
And in one swift movement, the boy grabbed his cape like a parachute, grabbed Shuichi, and jumped off the rooftop.
"KOKICHIIIII!!!!" Shuichi screamed, clinging onto him.
Soon they reached the ground, they were out of the school gates.
"Fun, right?" Kokichi giggled.
"Y-yeah.. fun.." Shuichi was pale with fear, Kokichi laughed at him.
"Sooo.. what now~?"
"What do you mean 'what now'? We have school-"
"Yeah.. I don't think it's safe to go back there now!"
"Wha-?!"
"Hmm.. I grabbed some cash off miss teach before we jumped, we could go to the convenience store..?" The small boy suggested, rubbing a few coins in his palm.
"O-okay.."
Kokichi was skiving school with Shuichi. This was his dream, he had his Shumai all to himself!
They began walking to the store. Kokichi was happily skipping ahead of Shuichi, humming songs. Shuichi couldn't help but giggle a little and smile at his childishness. He didn't know why, but seeing Kokichi so happy and carefree like that, made him feel happy and his heart flutter. He put a hand to his heart and smiled.
"We're hereee~!" Kokichi announced. They walked into the shop and the smaller boy headed straight for the slushie machine. Shuichi followed him, feeling it was his responsibility to make sure he didn't get up to any mischief. The smaller boy groaned.
"What's wrong Kokichi?" Shuichi tilted his head at the boy.
"I only have enough money for one slushie.."
"What's wrong with that..?"
"Well then you can't have one!"
Shuichi was surprised the boy was going to buy him a slushie. His eyes widened in surprise and delight, before his face settled into a warm smile.
"Don't worry about it! I'll be fine."
"No.." Kokichi held Shuichi's sleeve.
"Huh..?"
"I'd feel bad if you didn't have one~!"
"If you're really that bothered.. then why don't we share one?"
"Okay~! What flavour do ya wanna get?" The boy nodded and smiled in agreement, before turning to face the slushie machine.
"Hmm.."
Shuichi remembered that the leader loved grape panta, but Shuichi wasn't too fond of it's artificial taste. His personal favourite was mixed berry.
"What about half and half..?" He suggested.
"Okay~! I'm gonna get half Grape.. and you?"
"Mixed berry."
Shuichi grabbed them a straw each as Kokichi filled the cup. They quickly paid and went back outside. Kokichi held onto Shuichi's arm, but he didn't mind. In fact, he liked it.
They walked around with no particular goal, until they reached the woods. Kokichi immediately froze, a huge smile plastered on his face.
"What's wrong, Kokichi..?"
"First of all, you gotta get a nickname for me Shumai, everyone calls me Kokichi.. and you're not everyone, 'kay~? And second, my mom used to take me here all the time! I haven't been here since-" Then he went quiet.
"So.. I take it the woods are a special place to you..?"
"Yup~!" He couldn't contain his excitement any longer, so he darted into the woods.
Shuichi smiled, and began to jog after him. By the time he caught up with the leader, he found him sitting with a squirrel on his lap. Shuichi sat by a tree and watched him. He couldn't help but smile. His heart fluttered seeing him so happy and at peace. He saw a new side of Kokichi, and he liked it.
Kokichi caught Shuichi looking, but he wasn't mad or embarrassed. He simply signaled for him to come over with his hand. Shuichi obeyed, and sat next to him. Kokichi carefully placed the squirrel on Shuichi's lap, and smiled.
"Isn't he cute~?" Kokichi said, in a warm and calm voice.
"Yeah.." Shuichi agreed, petting the little creature on his head.
The squirrel isn't the only cute thing here..
Shuichi thought to himself, almost blushing. Why was he getting thoughts like that?
"Well~!" Kokichi announced, picking up the squirrel and placing it in a tree. "We better get going, it's getting late. Can we go to your house Shumai~?" He asked, picking up a pile of leaves and throwing them over his head.
"Sure, why not..!" Shuichi agreed, picking a leaf out of the leaders purple hair.
