Chereads / To Slay A Goddess / Chapter 12 - Bloodline

Chapter 12 - Bloodline

"Pick it up..." murmured the once furiously shouting voice in his mind.

Kellen shivered at the change of tone in his mind, but still decided to follow its words to hopefully gain a clue to what was happening.

Reaching out his hand that was beginning to slowly revert back to its normal pale tone, Kellen carefully picked up the drawing and studied it closely.

The tear made by Seven had completely healed itself back to normal and the contract began to glow in a dim reddish light.

The child in the center of the painting had his red eyes become even more radiant after absorbing the blood the drawing had touched.

Kellen stared into this red eyes like he did before and was stunned as he could have sworn he saw one blink.

'What the hell!'

He studied the child again and noticed the seemingly solemn looking kid was now grinning in a devilish light accompanied by his disturbing red eyes. Kellen nervously questioned the voice in his head that seemed to have calmed down.

"What is this thing exactly?"

He waited for a few moments before the once strained old voice answered him in a youthful sounding tone.

"Your inheritance!"

Kellen was confused as stared at the creepy drawing who's illustrations were now moving about.

"Inheritance? From whom?" asked Kellen nervously.

"From me!" shouted the now annoyed youthful voice.

Kellen felt like he no longer understood anything in the universe any longer.

"Wh... What! Why me? And what do I even do with this thing!" complained Kellen as he continued to question the strange voice.

"Ugh... You are a real pain in the ass you know that! I thought that even though you were a little weak you would at least be somewhat smart. Have you not figured out anything from these memories of yours?" nagged the voice in his head.

"Memories? What memories! These are all altered!" said Kellen as he began to get annoyed with the pessimistic voice figuring that he had something to with these horrible memories.

"Just shut up for a second and let me finish! I've waited for you to awaken my bloodline for a long time but let me tell you that so far it's been a real disappointment... I should've just let you die like the other impotent brats." said the annoying voice in a regretful tone.

Kellen began to fume with anger as he heard the voice constantly degrading him but held it back.

'What a melodramatic jerk!' he thought.

"Hey I heard that! I'm in your head remember! Anyways, like this old geezer here that came to seal me, I'm one of the many deities of this universe whose blood just happened to be injected into you... I don't know how the scumbags on your planet came into contact with my blood but I suppose it was a blessing in disguise for both me and you." said the odd deity.

Another voice that was a lot fainter than the deity began speaking from deep within Kellen's mind at that moment.

"You asshole! I'm not old when compared to your graying ass! You've been gone for so long that I thought you were dead..." shouted Osiris faintly.

"Well I guess you could technically argue that I am dead... My main body was destroyed way back in the confrontation with the Blessed faction. However, a few strands of my blood managed to survive which is what brings us to this moment." said the deity gloomily.

"Wait! Was that what those crazy researchers were injecting me with after all those tests?" interrupted Kellen as he began to put the pieces together.

"Yeah, you were one of the many they experimented my blood on, but the others ended up dead due to a weak constitution or a natural incompatibility. The few that survived with a compatible constitution ended up dead since they couldn't handle the negative mental stress. You're really an anomaly kid! I didn't think there was anyone else in the universe that could absorb my negative energies like you did..." responded the deity thoughtfully.

"Awe... That's great and all... But can you let me go now you psychotic demon grandpa?" intercepted Osiris in a mocking plea.

Kellen and the demonic deity paused for a few moments before continuing.

"What about the others in the experiments?" asked Kellen while he gazed back at Seven's chubby body still on the floor.

"There were only two others before you that were tested using my blood. As for the others, like that disgusting pig, they were injected with blood from the blessed faction deities that were slain by me back in the confrontation I mentioned... I wouldn't worry about trash like them... You should be more focused on completing the inheritance and fully assimilate my blood with your body!" said the demonic deity excitedly.

Kellen still was unsure about what was happening and looked down at the now completely red glowing drawing.

"So what do I do with this?" said Kellen as he waved it about in his hands.

"Ah, yes! This is how you accept my inheritance... Just prick your finger or something and drop your blood on the paper. It requires the blood from a slain enemy and the blood derived from my bloodline in order to work." replied the demonic deity in a matter of fact way.

Kellen bit his thumb, drawing a few droplets of blood, but paused before dropping it on the drawing.

"Wait... What's your name and why are you giving me this?" asked Kellen as he realized he never asked the most important questions since he was distracted by the crazy distortion of memories.

"Ah... I was wondering if you were gonna actually ask me about that or not... I am Nergal the god of destruction! I was once seen as a god of death but little Osiris here took up that mantle after I perished in the war." said Nergal in a somewhat disappointed tone.

"Hey what's that supposed to mean!" shouted Osiris but he was looked over as Nergal continued.

"The reason I wish to bestow to you my inheritance along with my bloodline is just simple. You know what it's like to lose everything as well and be humiliated by those surrounding you. We both desire the same thing which is our life's source. Vengeance!" shouted Nergal as he answered Kellen like his own blood.

Kellen smiled in a devilish manner before nodding his head in acceptance.

"That's exactly what I wanted to hear."

The drops of blood dripping down his thumb collided with the drawing in his hand and the reddish glow became brighter until the paper began to vanish in his hands. The two red eyes of the kid in the drawing absorbed the red energy, that the paper had turned into, until two orbs were floating in front of Kellen.

"Receive your inheritance my successor!"

Kellen's eyes enlarged when he heard the last words of Nergal before the two glowing red energy orbs flew into each of his eyes respectively. He felt a slight strain like pain on his eyes but it slowly vanished and was replaced by a warm energy, like two friendly suns, as they danced around in his pupils.

His already reddish eyes began to glow with a brilliance never seen before like the rising sun.

His boiling blood that was once painful began to feel pleasant as the comforting fiery energy in his eyes seemed to merge the disconnected energies in his body.

"Welcome to my bloodline! The bloodline of the Sun Demon!" shouted Nergal in joy as he watched the changes from within Kellen's mind like a proud father.

"A Sun Demon..." murmured Kellen to no one in particular, as he stared at his body beginning to fully change into a mutual form between his normal self and the demonic transformation that he had undergone when fighting Seven.

His skin was no longer a pale nor dark tone but simply a medium tan like that of a sun-kissed model. His dark brownish hair became a completely jet black sheen that made his now reddish orange eyes stand out even more, and his scrawny body that had gained a slight amount of muscle from his grueling training with Osiris was now well defined like an athlete.

"This is the result of your bloodline!"

Kellen said in shock as he gazed at his unfamiliar body.
