As soon as his body was finished absorbing the inheritance and assimilating more of Nergal's blood with his own, the memory he was still standing inside of began to collapse like the others.
His vision began to get blurry again and Nergal's voice became fainter until eventually fading away.
"As your body continues to assimilate more with my blood our connection will grow stronger. Until then, I won't be able to speak with you as often and will only appear when your body is under the threat of dying. I wish you bloody victory my successor!" said the fading voice of Nergal as Kellen's vision continued to blur before returning to complete darkness.
This time when he opened his eyes, Kellen found himself back inside the slightly disarrayed mind space where he had been training with Osiris.
'Oh, I almost completely forgot about him.' thought Kellen as he remembered his slave-driving like training mentor.
"Old man what happened to you?" said Kellen as he waited for an answer.
However, his question was only greeted by silence as he continued to wait for an answer.
Then he felt an odd sensation begin to irritate his forehead as a familiar ethereal figure was pushed out of his head into the space in front of him.
The old man scratched the back of his head and looked around at the fractured mind space around him.
"Assholes... Like father like son I guess... Or something along those lines..." murmured Osiris in a bad mood as looked at the damaged mind space around him.
"How was your little vacation old man?" snickered Kellen as he laughed at the run down deity finally getting a taste of his own medicine.
"Vacation! Ha, I'd say more like solitary confinement! That jerk locked me in there for ages and messed around with my energies... Look! I was solid after using half my energy but he drained all of it out of me like the filthy little bloodsucker he is! Now I'm back to this stupid form!" grumbled Osiris as he shook his flimsy ethereal body about.
"And you sure took your bloody time to figure out his little games! Were you always this stupid? Wait don't answer that... I already know the answer!" continued Osiris as he tried to smack his head but the fast movement of his arm caused it to fade, and it instead went straight through his head.
Kellen couldn't help himself and burst out into laughter at the old man's predicament.
"Hey! This isn't funny! This is all your fault in the first place! I was just trying to help you out and got caught up in this mess..." yelled Osiris but it was no use as Kellen continued to laugh his heart out.
"Disrespectful brat..."
Osiris decided to just ignore the kid and focused his attention back to the mind space.
'Let's fix this place up so I can return to torturing this runt...'
With the snap of his fingers, the fractured mind space began to slowly revert to its original appearance as the space cracks and lingering crimson mist began to disappear.
As the mind space almost finished its recovery, Kellen began to recompose himself and try to control his laughter.
'Ha, that old tyrant finally gets what he deserves after all these years of his oppression in here!' thought Kellen as he watched the mind space finally return to normal.
Osiris turned around, nodding his head in satisfaction after seeing the mind space was now back to "normal", and inquisitively studied the kid's body after noticing the changes.
After looking over every inch of the kid's body Osiris didn't know whether he should be laughing or crying.
'That stingy geezer actually gave this runt his bloodline... It took me so long to rise up and assume his position in the cursed faction with only myself to rely on... This lucky bastard! If I was able to adopt the bloodline of the sun demon I wouldn't have had to go through most of the troubles I faced...' pouted Osiris as he was surprised by the new body of the little runt.
Kellen didn't have a massive build with bulging muscles after accepting the path of the sun demon, but had formed a lean muscular body that could belong to a competitive athlete back in his old world. This lack of muscle didn't mean he was incapable but gave him an advantage that a big build would lack, which was unrestricted movement.
"Well I guess after this transformation we can just move onto combat training, which saves us a lot of time..." mumbled Osiris as he thought to himself.
He snapped his fingers again and a strange pixelated shadow like figure appeared beside him.
Kellen was barely able to catch the old man's words and smiled to himself after realizing he had managed to escaped the cliff.
"What's that thing for?" he asked as he looked at the strange shadowy figure beside the old man.
Osiris began chuckling and a grin replaced his sorrowful face.
Kellen got a sinking feeling in his stomach seeing the old man's familiar sadistic smile again.
"This is your sparring partner! We can call him... uh... Gregory... Anyways, he'll be like a moving test dummy that can fight back as well. Your job is to defeat him!" said Osiris in a sickly sweet voice like he was about to binge his favorite show.
"Fight? With what weapon?" replied Kellen as he looked at his empty hands.
"A weapon? Your already too inexperienced to fight with just your hands. Don't jump the gun kid! We will start with the basics. Hand-to-hand combat!" chuckled Osiris as he patted Gregory on the back to motion him towards the runt.
"Come on Gregory! Make your papa proud!" shouted Osiris as he continued to grin at the thought of the kid being beat up to pay for his extended imprisonment.
Kellen was unprepared and had little to no fighting experience besides getting beat up by Seven at the secret laboratory.
'How the hell am I supposed to learn anything if you don't tell or show me what to do? You're such a stingy geezer!' complained Kellen in his head as the shadowy figure of Gregory slowly approached him.
When Gregory was about halfway to Kellen's position, he raised his hands into a fighting position that looked straight out of an MMA fight, and suddenly lunged towards Kellen at a lightning speed.
Kellen was just barely able to dodge the fist flying right towards his face as he jumped back out of reflex.
'What the-'
He didn't even have the time to think as Gregory continued to follow his steps and release an unending barrage of punches.
Kellen couldn't dodge the quick paced dummy forever and was eventually took a jab to the side of his face and fell on his back from the blow. The dummy seemed to stop his assault after Kellen hit the ground and assumed a fighting stance waiting to continue.
'How am I supposed to fight if I don't know anything?' thought Kellen in dismay as he slowly stood back up on his feet.
He glanced over towards his supposed "mentor" and was infuriated when he saw his laughing face full of tears after seeing Kellen getting his face smacked to the floor.
"Ha, serves you right kid! Get him Gregory!" shouted Osiris from between his tears of laughter.
'Stupid geezer! How is this supposed to teach me anything?'
Gregory resumed his barrages and Kellen continued to be tossed to the ground like a ragdoll every time. He had more strength now in his once frail body, but without any experience or technique he was just like a blundering giant.
'I'm sick of this bullshit! I'll just rush him when he reveals an opening!' thought Kellen after falling onto the ground for the twentieth time.
Standing back up on his feet, this time he carefully studied his opponents movements and tried to discover an opening. Sure enough, as Gregory's fist came flying towards his face, he ducked down and lunged forward to tackle the dummy's lower stomach area.
Just like a javelin, Kellen tackled the dummy which brought them both to the ground as Kellen straddled the dummy's chest and repeatedly sent jabs to his face.
The blurry pixelated shadow shattered after receiving a few of his attacks and then reappeared next to Osiris.
"Damn it... I mean good job! Now that you've started to get an eye for battle try it again." said Osiris with mixed emotions contained in his voice.
"Gregory..."
Osiris patted the dummy on the back and motioned him forward again.
This exchange between a demon fledgling in training and the all powerful Gregory repeated itself as battle after battle commenced.
Kellen would still lose frequently in the beginning but after continuous spars he began to better develop a battle sense. His losses and losing streak began to dwindle with every match until he was able to perfectly discover the flaws in his opponent's movements and even predict some of his next moves.
He was still far away from becoming an expert but Kellen believed he was slowly getting closer to being one with every match.
It was at this point where he would no longer lose that Osiris snapped his fingers and Gregory vanished, and reappeared at the deity's side.
"Looks like your improving... Let's turn it up a notch!" said Osiris as he snapped his fingers again and a long sword with a transparent blade appeared in Gregory's hands.
Kellen cursed to himself as nothing appeared in his empty hands.
'What did I even expect...'
