It was strange how many times someone can take so much hurt and not do anything about it. Not only once or twice, not even thrice, but this was the fourth time I let it happen. I let it happen; with each man I dated, it's clear that I'm no good at keeping a man.
There's this deranged virus surfing through my veins, and I believe it's what prevents me from catching any man decent of heart. It attracts all the lowlifes and ugly hearts who would rather play with many than have one on one.
I'm used to this treatment by each boyfriend I've had, but each time hardens my shell and convinces me to leave all men behind.
Only hours ago, I had thought my fiancé loved and cherished me. Well, it turns out he only cherished the money I made and only loved what I could gift him. I found him ramming into my fellow co-worker, and former friend, inside of her car. I walked away as soon as I connected eyes with her.
Surprisingly, she smirked at me and moaned louder.
I didn't even flinch; I walked away as if nothing happened.
Of course he saw me, and of course, he tried to run after me, but I managed to escape from the grueling male and found myself at the edge of the pier.
Looking out into the ocean with longing was one thing I could testify that I was a professional at. I was done with men altogether and I finally vowed to stop searching for love because, clearly, it doesn't want me to find it.
I suppose it rather finds me.
Love was something I am terrible horrible at, and it wants me to wait for it. Just my luck.
Currently, I was leaning against the pole as I soaked my feet in the water. I did my best to dry the small tears away from my chubby cheeks.
A few fell into the water as the sky turned a darker blue as the sun descends slowly beyond the horizon.
I tuck my feet under my knees, not caring about whether they were dry or not, and sat cross-legged. There weren't many people out now, just a few left as day turns to night. Some of the sweethearts walk along the beach, hand in hand, laughing about a couple of situations. A few more tears fell fast down my face, my heart aching at another lost love.
Breathing in deeply, and with time, I found a slice of inner peace and held it tightly to keep myself from going insane. I softly wipe the dreadful tears away and calm myself before I did something irrational.
After moments of me comforting myself and finding the courage to go back home and deal with the breakup, I close my eyes and finally sigh a breath of much-needed relief.
I suppose I dozed off for a few minutes because the next thing I know, I was being shaken awake by someone moving my shoulder. Blinking the sleep away from my eyes, I found bright hair with bright irises looking straight into mine.
A bubbly smile lit across her lips. When she noticed I was awake, she turned her smile into a grin as her eyes twinkled from the lights on the pier. My eyes adjust to the darkness surrounding me, then I notice how I was still against the wooden pole. I stretched my back, feeling it crack, and yawned, covering my mouth.
It was then I remember the female standing before me as I sat at the edge of the wooden pier.
Slowly, my attention darts to the sky, then to the woman. My eyes widened and I pushed myself back in fright as I saw her raise her hand to touch me. She frowns as I reel back and leans on the edge of the pier.
I could see her much clearer in the dim light.
Light blue scales scattered her face, torso, and limbs, glittering in different hues of the tropical color. Her eyes were a beautiful deep blueberry that developed well with her scales and her plump breasts. She scared me beyond belief as I saw the tips of her blue ears and the silly grin on her pale blue lips.
Her eyes enticed me, and I was curious beyond my wildest dreams. Her nails reached out to touched my hand and I allowed her; my curiosity was too much. Her skin was cold and wet, but human.
There are blue strands in her hair as her scales glitter like the color of the sun when it's in the water. She giggles, bringing me back to reality.
"Who the hell are you?" I whisper breathlessly.
She giggles again. only this time at my profound use of language, and cops a smile on her pretty face. She plays with strands of her hair as she watches me intently.
Trying to calm my breathing, I heaved many sighs and I finally felt my heart rate come down. I swallowed the saliva in my throat and hesitated when her fingers coiled around my wrist.
I went to retract my hand, but she kept an iron grip on me.
At this point, I was scared she was going to hurt me or do something to the extent of pain.
The blonde and blue strands of hair liquidly fall around her face as she leans forward while her deep blue eyes search my face.
She looks further, towards my neck and all the way down to my chest. Her other hand rests above my heart, the organ that beats rapidly beneath her slim fingers.
Looking beyond her face, her torso is very slim and clear of blemishes. Her breasts are round and nothing covers them as they proudly displayed on her chest. It's completely tan until the scales start to show just past her navel, gleaming in the dim lighting.
My heart rate increases at the sight of her naked bosom she leans against mine. I swallow, staring up into her eyes to look away.
She smiles, gliding a slender finger against my jawline.
"What do you think I am, human?" Her overly sweet voice flows through my ears like silk, inviting me to follow her wherever she goes.
I open my mouth to answer, but instead, I watch as a tail of azure sparkles as the fins sling water feet away, dipping back down into the ocean. My eyes widen once more as my heart jumps into my throat.
I could not believe what I was seeing. I couldn't decide if I wanted to be excited and amazed or cautious and suspicious of the creature in front of me.
Her sparkling teeth gleam down at me as she readjusts her body to sit on the deck and leans over top of me. Her eyes glare and I can't help but feel helpless under her gaze. The mermaid's hand stays on my heart and the other push my hair away from my face. She hums a tune I'm unfamiliar with and the sound invades my ears like a majestic symphony.
Before I could stop her, I felt her lips against mine, followed shortly after her hand fisting my hair and gripping the part of me that covers my heart.
I gasp in surprise and her tongue sneaks in as she bites at my tongue. She drinks the blood coming from my mouth as I yelp from the pain.
The pain brings me to reality and I shove her away, but she pushes me down against the deck of the pier with her strength.
Her voice begins to soothe my fears and I find myself wanting to fall asleep.
"Bloom and grow." She caresses my face tenderly while softly starting to sing.
She sinks her nails into my chest unexpectedly.
"From the heart within," she soothes softly.
When I finally gasp from the pain, she kisses me once more and it renders me unconscious with a wave of pain.
"May you truly know.."
