The Atlantic Ocean.

5:17 am.
After finally settling down, the mermaid assisted me with swimming to the rock I was laying before my spastic attack. After a few attempts, I found a rhythm of moving forwards, and only moving forward. With my tail, I didn't have a clue how to move forward while steering straight. The blue scales sparkle with each slender movement. Glimmers from the moonlight enhance the monstrosity attached to me with each jerk. The beautiful mermaid swims elegantly as I watch her sit down beside me, holding my hand tenderly. She smiles, offering a slight nod in my direction. I swallow my skeptical due to her kind hospitality.
The mythical creature speaks first, "My name is Larose, and what is yours, love?"
Her beautiful smile blinds me as I stare at the blue-eyed woman, curious for the reason as to why she cares. Then again, this is a mermaid, not a human like I once was. There's always the possibility they have a different way of life. I smile softly, and slightly hopeful, to Larose while she sat beside me. She tilts her head a bit, enticing me to answer after a moment. Being put on the spot had me instantly nervous as she devotes her sole attention on me. My nerves were already jittery due to the predicament Larose had brought me to. Taking a deep breath, I prepared to answer her.
"It's Pandora," I reply, intently watching her facial expression as I speak clearly.
Larose smiled, looking at me with excitement as I spoke. Her eyes dance with happiness as she grabs ahold of my hands abruptly. She appeared happy at the fact I answered her question, but I did my best to ignore her innocent facial expressions as she offers me another gentle smile. Spotting the glimmer in her eyes, I knew she was plotting something in her pretty little mind. It was only a matter of what and when.
"Lovely name; Pandora, that is." Larose smiles openly, showing off her pearly whites. "I suppose you are wondering how you managed the tail and fins, hm?" Larose giggles shyly. Her eyes darken a shade, causing a warning to alarm for a barrier between me and this female. She motions toward the heavy thing that has replaced my two legs. I'm only trying to understand what the hell's happening here as she continuously laughs at me as if we were nine-year-olds in the school cafeteria.
Hesitantly, I look down, dreading the sight of a tail and fins. I wince at the black mass, squeaking out, "Yes, I'd like to what happened to my legs." My eyebrows knit, and I stretch my hand out to touch the slippery scales. My first initial reaction was shocked; I wasn't expecting my tail to be silky smooth.
"I gave you the chance to become one, actually—" I heard her speak something inaudible under her breath before continuing, "—as you should also know that you may shift back at any time you please, once you learn to do so that is," Larose explains kindly, disregarding my question. I only nod in return when she pauses, and I wait for her to continue her explanation. It's nice to know I won't have to stay like this forever. I can have my two chubby legs back, I'll just have to earn them. "And since you are my freshling now, I have complete responsibility for you until our customs and laws have accepted the mer you will be. There are many things I must teach you; including how to swim, and even what to eat, all leading up to the other species, along with their laws and customs."
It must have been my facial expression that made her giggle quietly because she soon settles a hand on my shoulder, reassuring me, "Don't worry Pandora," her beautiful smile reveals gleams in her acrylic azure eyes, "I will shape you into the mermaid you need to be, and I will have you perfected by the deadline." Larose grins largely, sending me an unwanted vibe from her tone of voice. She stared at me sweetly, a little too sweetly. Her smile was a bit too big for her face and her teeth twinkled under the moonlight. Her eyes seemed to give me an intense case of the heebeejeebees. The mermaid offers me a bright smile once more, gently pulling me into a hug. She laughs and I can't help but do so too. Larose's laughter was contagious. She leaves a smile on my face and I find myself actually enjoying life as a mermaid, for this moment.
Larose brings her attention back to me once she's sobered up. "I'd like to introduce you to a few other mermaids, and even a few mermen," she winks seductively. I scoff and roll my eyes at this female, already dreading time with her. "Before we start your lessons." Larose swims a few feet away and motions me to follow her lead, guiding me as I struggle to swim with my tail. The scaley thing was slimy as it moved and stretched longer than Larose's. I found her eyes lingering on my tail every so often as she aides me with swimming.
I was curious; was there something so special about my tail it seemed to be an abnormality? Most people don't take five double takes, then again, this is a mermaid. It made me wonder if it was normal to have a black tail, or maybe it was the golden specks? It could very well be both colors, or it could be the length of it, possibly? I hadn't really taken into account how much how much I had changed, but there was a definite reconstruction in my body. I was way slimmer and so much thicker than I was as a human. I use to wear 2xs and sometimes 3xs, but this figure I was unfamiliar with was curvy and sexy. I thought back to my later years as a teenager and dared to compare myself to Jesy Nelson or Marilyn Monroe.
As we swam, it took a lot of energy to travel besides her. Softly feeling my smooth skin as we pass many reefs, I was amazed at how the scales blended into my human skin so softly with no roughness to be found. There were no stretch marks nor scars marring my skin and I so badly wanted to cry out in ecstasy. Within time, we had made it close to our destination. I knew that much because Larose was slowing her speed. We came to an abandoned, wrecked ship that looked eerie, which spooked me out, but Larose had to grab my wrist and drag me onto the cruise ship. There was no life to be found on the drab outside, but as soon as we invaded the through a cannon hole, the ship was smoldering with life. Mermaids and mermen of all shapes, races, and colors resided within the ship, giving bright auras to the place. So many different shades of neon and pale colors blind me as Larose guides me down a path and into several hallways until she comes across a few mermaids that direct her to her mysterious inquiry. She thanked them and we move on, the mers gasping at my tail as I pass by.
I suddenly crash into the back of Larose without any warning to stop or slow down, but she becomes my concrete wall instead. Embarrassed as I was, I swallowed it and swam away from her to give her personal space. Her childish giggles pass through my ears while I cast my eyes down. "Tallese, Kamara, Odeum, Kanto... I'd like you to meet my new freshling, Pandora." She announces as if she's presenting me at a show and tell. Her voice is overly happy and it makes me want to cringe as I notice the four other creatures in the grand bedroom.
