"I'm sorry, I have talked a lot about myself," Diana muttered and made James woke up from his daydreaming.
"That's fine …"
There's an awkward silence between words. Diana busy checked a message from her phone, she must've been so tired. James could tell by watching at her reaction when there's a notification sound from her phone.
Sweat dripped from her body, James tried to not focused on her beautiful body and face. He could understand when there're people who were attracted to her, but still, he couldn't forgive whoever did the cursed action to her.
'Maybe right now I can understand why you aren't in love with anybody, maybe you're scared because of the motherfucker! You're way too good for anyone, even I can't imagine have someone like you on my side.'
The clock's ticking and the moon crawled upstairs to replace the sun, and it got darker when Diana and James sat in the apartment didn't do anything. They busy with their own business, Diana asked James that she wanted to deal with her job first and James had no problem with it.
After he finished with his cigarette, James's stomach was growling when he finished it. He wanted to grab dinner but couldn't leave her alone, also he still felt awkward to asked her to dinner again.
James stood up and search for the ingredient in the fridge, luckily James had some when he shopped for Daniele a couple of weeks ago. 'How long these things in my fridge?' There's just meat, egg, and plenty of seasoning.
"You still in your work?" James asked Diana while his hand searched the fridge.
Diana glued at her phone and answered a lot of messages, "Yeah, I'm sorry…"
"There's fine, I'll make a dinner…you can move to the couch where there's more comfort."
Diana paused her activity and stared at James wondered, "Huh? I'm sorry…did you said you want to make dinner?"
"Hey, I can cook!" He raised his tone, but Diana couldn't hold her laugh.
"Hahaha, okay do whatever you want. I just can't imagine the taste,"
Diana stood up from the benchtop and moved to the couch, she laid her back and exhaled with her eye still on the phone. No break for her and that so sucks, 'Oh please just stop!' She nearly cried because of people who always texted her nonstop.
Diana was confused about her behavior, as long as she worked this was the first time she left sick of it. Just a little break that she needs, but people kept asking for a favor. 'Why don't you just stop Diana!' That thought appeared in her head, and she put off her phone for a second. Catch a breathe and rest her eye from the activity.
James searched for the other thing that he had, he didn't know how to cook meat. 'Why I brought these things that I can't cook by myself.' He pondered and reached for his phone to find out how to cook beef.
She stared at James that confused about how to cook dinner, 'Just the same as I thought, he can't cook.' Diana laughed at her heart, it's funny to watch James that confused with the ingredients and the step to cook.
'Oh, how cute he is.' Diana stood up and moved to him. "Need help?"
"No, I'm fine," He glued to his phone, learned how to cook.
"That's can take a while—" Diana snatched James phone, "—just let me help you with this one,"
"Hey! That's my phone," James snapped, 'Ah this woman is crazy!'
Diana moved to the fridge and was surprised that nothing in it, "You just had these?" Her hand pointed to the steak that James was confused about how to cook it.
"Yeah, there's some mistake," He smiled awkwardly.
Diana sighed, "What's in your head? Give me the apron, I can make something of it,"
"Apron?" James tried to remember when the last time he saw those things, "Ah…okay wait a minute,"
James ran to search for the apron, he didn't remember exactly where he put it. No one had used it for almost a year. James barely cooked by himself at dinner, and he hadn't an idea how to made it.
Diana stood and reckon the best way to cook it. While she pondered on the way to did it, she remembered about her job suddenly. 'Should I take my phone?' Diana hesitated to did it, she wanted to take a break, and now is the time. 'Fuck it! I'll do it tomorrow.'
"Aha! Here it is," He gave the apron to her and she wears it immediately.
Diana rolled her sleeve and cooked it right away, James couldn't do anything. All he could do was watched her slice and seasoning the meat, she did something that James never saw before.
"Would you give me a room?" Diana yelled at him, "Don't stand behind me, just put your ass on the benchtop."
"Wow, take it easy, mam…"
James couldn't argue with it. He sat and watched Diana did the rest. There's some precious moment in his life, he saw an incredible creature in front of him with an apron with her brown hair tied up.
Before long he realized something, the pain that he had before and all the crap that he had because of his ex was gone. Diana makes him forgot all of it, she's the center of the attention right now.
'Am I into this person, or she just someone that I used to get over my Ex?' James asked himself about his intention and feeling. He didn't want to make another mistake as he did to Alice, she just rebound to get over his sadness. 'No James! She way too good to you, treat her as nice as you can. Don't do anything to hurt her, she suffers enough!'
James kept saying those words and stick them in his head. He didn't want to think about it right now because there's something wonderful happened in his miserable apartment. The goddess drop by and showed her beauty and attraction to him.
"Thank you…" James whispered slowly.
"What? Did you say something?" Diana asked with her knife in her hand.
"Um…nothing," James smiled and that makes Diana more curious.
"What a freak!" Diana mocked him then continued slicing the meat.
They spent the time mocked and joked each other while Diana makes some delicious dinner. James did nothing except laughed and kept said to himself that she was way too good for him. She becomes his painkiller, she erased the pain that exists in his heart. No one is good enough for her, or there's no human is good enough for her.
