They too busy mocked each other until they didn't realize that day's getting darker. Just simple happiness for James and break for Diana, they enjoy that precious moment. That's felt like a great situation from both sides, to forget their problem and just laugh like there's no tomorrow.
The clock's kept ticking and sooner or later they gonna understand that this moment wouldn't last forever. Diana and James knew and they kept saying in their heart, wishing that time could stop and this feeling lasts forever.
Something is growing inside their heart but they kept pushed that feeling away. 'There's no way, that is not going there…' They said it in their heart, either Diana and James were too afraid to think and hope for the next step.
James didn't do anything and just stared at Diana while she kept slicing and prepared the seasoning. He picks the astray and lights up the cigar because there's nothing that he could do.
"Hey don't smoke near the kitchen!" Diana yelled at him right away when James tried to light it up.
"What!? This is my house and I have all the control over here," James fumed.
Diana put her hand on her hips, "Listen! If you want to eat, don't smoke over here,"
She used a high tone and her face was so scary and make James couldn't say any words. James sighed and walked outside on the balcony, light up his cigar while kept thinking, 'Why do I listen to her? You're manipulated by that woman James, poor of you.'
Little did he know that Diana felt the same way. While her hand busy with the meat and knife, she wondered what she did in this apartment. 'Diana, why are you still here and make this dinner for him? You're too kind as always, poor of you.'
Just for a moment, James remembered about what happened this afternoon, he had no idea how Christy cheated on him. Although they were barely speaking to each other when James busy with his movie as a screenwriter. That was a big movie but he had to give up his girlfriend in this case.
James shook his head while his mouth busy with the cigarette, that was a hard choice for him. He stared at the dark skies with no stars or moon over there, just a night. He pondered and wondered if he could turn back the time, which one would he gave up, his movie or girlfriend?
James could find the answer, and if there was an answer he didn't want to know that. It's not important for him because what is done is done and there's no turn back. His pain of betrayal was still on his heart, it's a new one and it wouldn't be healed anytime soon.
"James! Your phone ringing!" Diana scream at James when she heard his phone rang, "Ed's called," She had a little peak on his phone.
"Ed?" James wondered why did he call. Something had changed between them and their boundaries. James rushed back inside to pick his phone and back to the balcony. Diana glanced at him when he walked outside.
She continued her activity while eyed the room, 'there's no laptops or notes. What's on his mind? What's his new project, there's no sign that he did something. But why his editor called at this time?' She didn't know the relation between Ed and James was more than an editor, and she didn't know about James become a teacher either.
"Yo! James, how's your day?" Ed spoke from the phone.
"Just straight to the point, Ed. What happened?"
Ed chuckled, "Yeah, I just wanted to say that some of the parents are giving you some good impression on you and Mr. Galloway called me if you want to become a permanent teacher."
"What?" James was shocked and his voice makes Diana glanced at him wondered. "Ed, this should be a temp job, right? So you know the answer,"
"Yeah, I had thought that you'll say this. Okay, that's fine…" There's silence between them until Ed said something that makes the flow of the conversation changed. "Are you okay James? You didn't sound okay,"
James was stunned, no words after heard it, was he okay or not he didn't know. It was confusing about what happened with his feeling. He was angry, sad, but right now there's someone that makes his smile appeared on his face.
"I don't know," He answered shortly.
"Hmm…that's the answer when there's something happened,"
James sighed, "…you were right, she cheated on me."
"What!? When?"
James wasn't in the mood right now, he was happy until Ed asked that question. He didn't want to spoil the happiness by explaining something that he hated the most, "The was a long story, I'll tell you sometime,"
"What? It was too big and I can't wait until tomorrow," Ed desperate to know the rest of the story.
"James! It's done," Suddenly Diana screamed James's name because the dinner is ready. 'Perfect timing,' now James had the reason to hung up.
"Bye Ed, I'll call you soon,"
Ed heard that was some woman voice, "Wait, who's that—"
James hung up before Ed wanted to finished the sentence, he back inside and there was some delicious dinner meal waited. Diana made something great over there, and James knew it just from the smell of the flavor of the medium-rare cooked beef.
"Yep, here it is… my wonderful creation," She smiled pridefully and looked at James very cocky.
"Huh, I don't know you can cook," James muttered.
She frowned, "What? After you smell these wonderful meals?"
He couldn't argue with that, "Um… yeah, maybe it's good," He didn't want to praise her.
"Just sit down, but… do you have something that would be matched with this?"
James knew what she meant, "Wait, I'll find something."
James searched the storage room in his apartment. There was a place to keep all the things that he got or something that didn't use recently or daily. He brought out to create, and there were two bottles of red wine and champagne.
"I just have these things, some dry, and I don't even know how to pronounce this champagne,"
"Yeah that's fine, we didn't have a choice anyway,"
They sat down, and enjoy the delicious dinner cooked by some gorgeous woman. James laughed a lot because of her, and so do Diana. They joked all night and showed some great appreciation by mocking each other.
A simple moment in a simple action, they both realized that they just need some break and rest. That night they had it, not because of the meal or the apartment and anything else, it just because of the person. There was a deep feeling within their smile and laugh but they kept pushed it down. 'There's no way, that is going there', they kept said and remembered that line because they didn't want to ruin these feelings. Feelings that so hard to find.
